I only have a business account on Facebook so can't join the group, hopefully this mumsnet group doesn't die off.

Retrogamer · 27/09/2023 22:50

Hello,
I'm 14 weeks tomorrow, had my scan last week. Everything is going well so far and for the first time this pregnancy I can let out a sigh of relief. I know they'll be more worries to come but for now I am enjoying this peace of mind.
I saw some beautiful newborn clothes in Morrisons with little foxes on them, however I can't bring myself to buy any clothes yet. I think I will indulge in an outfit if I get to my 20 week scan.

Hope you are all doing well. My sickness is reducing in the evenings which is nice, mornings are still pretty brutal though haha

I don't use Facebook but set up an account a few years back when I wanted a bike secondhand, marketplace seemed cheaper than eBay. I don't have any friends but my request was accepted. Could you not set up a new account? The chat on there is definitely more lively.

ClubSandwich · 28/09/2023 13:44

Hey, any chance someone could share an updated link to the group please? I can’t find it using MN 0324 but the link shared on the previous page doesn’t find it either!

Thanks so much! I came off FB a couple of years ago but have just created a new profile just for the group, I hope that’s okay!

Thwam · 28/09/2023 16:02

Hi everyone, I have just received my screening results and have been told the baby is high risk of Down’s Syndrome (1/82). I’m 14 + 1 (had my dating scan and bloods taken at 13weeks). I hadn’t been worried about this at all and had started telling friends and family since the scan was fine (including normal NT). Having NIPT via the NHS on Monday and results take a week to come back. Think I will feel anxious and sick until then and don’t want to speak to any family or friends about the pregnancy / baby as I’m now just anxious and not excited.

KatY9876 · 28/09/2023 16:09

@Thwam I understand your anxiety, we had a normal nt measurement at 12 week scan. I was reassured then my screening came back and My risk for Down's syndrome came back as high risk 1 in 64. I had the NIPT and low risk for all genetic conditions. My husband said our risk was about 1.6% in 100 and he wouldn't bet at those odds which made me laugh and calm down a bit. X

Ap24 · 28/09/2023 16:58

@Thwam I'm so sorry. A few of us have been through this. My NIPT results came back in 6 days so hopefully you won't be waiting too long. As @KatY9876 has said working out the odds as a percentage helped us. You have nearly a 99% chance that your baby doesn't have T21.

LeopardLover · 28/09/2023 17:31

@Thwam I can totally understand why you'd be anxious but like a previous poster said, there's a 98.78% chance your baby doesn't have T21. I know it's easy to say but if a friend was going through the same thing, you'd probably tell them those are fantastic odds. I hope you can stay distracted this weekend! X

NWnature · 28/09/2023 18:50

Hey everyone- I find the Facebook group a bit overwhelming - there are so many people on there (and here I guess!) is March notoriously busy? I feel like my October baby group was like 20-30 of us max.

@Thwam I hope you can stay distracted this weekend. @KatY9876 and @Ap24 both have good advice as looking at it percentage-wise.

KatY9876 · 28/09/2023 18:56

@NWnature yeah we are quite a big group, some of us are late February and some are early April with most due during March. Just worked out spread over after scans. We are very friendly and chat messages are really good. X

OhmygoshREALLY · 28/09/2023 19:52

I’ve also just requested to join the FB group, have set up a new profile specifically!
Also had scan today and found out we’re having a little girl 🥰 and finally told my mum and she was utterly thrilled, no idea why I was so worried 😅

LeopardLover · 28/09/2023 21:24

@OhmygoshREALLY So pleased for you! ❤️

macki · 29/09/2023 07:47

What can I expect at the 16 week appointment? :)

NWnature · 29/09/2023 08:50

@KatY9876 yes everyone seems friendly :) I don’t really understand the chat messages (I don’t use Facebook much!) eeek. Hopefully it will start to make sense as the weeks go by!

@macki I don’t remember anything mega exciting at the 16 week one, I think the usual urine and blood pressure tests and a general chat maybe? How have you been feeling?

Busylizzie85 · 29/09/2023 09:05

Had mine on Thursday @macki it's was literally check urine, blood pressure, CO2 levels and general chat! I also got to hear the baby's heart beat on a Doppler but I know not all areas do this at 16 weeks x

BBno4 · 01/10/2023 13:37

Did you have your sex scan?
I'm forcing myself to wait until I'm 20 weeks. I'm 16vnext week and found a £60 gender scan but I dont want to pay and then they can't see because its too early. Dh is telling me to wait.
My next scan is 2nd November.

Busylizzie85 · 01/10/2023 13:55

Yes @BBno4 we did! Went to the same place I went to when finding out with my first daughter I found them really good.
It did take 3 attempts and a few walks around to get the shots we needed.

OP posts:
krissy12 · 01/10/2023 21:17

@BBno4 my scan isn't until the 2nd November either feels so long away. we're not finding out the sex but feels ages to wait to see baby again

LavenderInTheField · 02/10/2023 12:25

How often do they check our iron levels/ferritin levels to make sure we have enough iron? I was wondering if they are going to do bloods at 16 weeks?
