@mrspreece usuallt pre eclampsia can happen until placenta is fully established - after 16 weeks or so

Psmama22 · 04/08/2023 13:59

Are many of you having spotting? I have a mix or brown and pink spotting and freaking out! Have another scan next Thursday so fingers crossed

Lydia9228 · 04/08/2023 15:38

I had a bit of red spotting the night before last and panicked, rang EPU and they got me in for a scan next morning, luckily I didn’t have any more and my scan showed a healthy baby at 8+5, the nurse said it’s common and can be down to implantation, doesn’t help the worrying though! Xx

Scarletthoping · 04/08/2023 17:08

@Psmama22 - have had brown spotting / brown discharge for the last week and a half. Scan and blood test last week looked fine but we have to go back next Thursday to check. I was really hoping to be one of the ones who doesn’t get spotting as I knew it would make me anxious. It’s horrible isn’t it? But for a lot of women it’s just normal and they go onto have healthy babies so hopefully we are among that group. Hope you get good news at your scan! Xx

I've just bought a couple of £3 t-shirts from Primark. I bought a size up and they hide any bumps and don't look too baggy.

Busylizzie85 · 04/08/2023 18:07

We have a scan on Sunday morning so I guess I'll know then but I wanted to ask any one who is having there second or third are your symptoms less then previous pregnancy's?
I know every pregnancy is different and you get peaks and flows of hormones etc and I am probably overthinking things but I had strong symptoms at the start with horrid bloating, very very mild nausea and sore breasts etc but now at 8+2 my symptoms have all but gone over the last week and the last couple of days I feel normal if normal is a thing.
It's making me terribly terribly anxious 😞

Hello everyone, congratulations to all of you! I hope it's ok to join? I've been lurking on this thread for a couple of weeks and reading your different experiences has helped to reassure me.
I'm due around 15 March, just turned 8 weeks. This is my second pregnancy, my DS has just turned 4. We have a reassurance scan tomorrow and I'm excited but very nervous. More than I was with first pregnancy I think. I'm 41 now, so just keep thinking about possible risks. I've had terrible bloating and a bit of insomnia which is the same as last time, but also now started with some hardcore heartburn so on the Gaviscon and eating constantly which seems to help 😄

@Busylizzie85 I am similar the past 48 hours, went from feeling very sick, tired and dizzy to barely anything overnight. I am 8 weeks tomorrow and hoping it’s just the hormones settling down. It did happen in my first pregnancy around this stage but can’t remember how long for!

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow, symptoms eased a lot from 8 weeks. It's due to the newly forming placenta taking over progesterone rather than the ovaries I think 😊

Hope your scan goes well on Sunday x

Busylizzie85 · 04/08/2023 19:07

Thank you @Ceearr I think I just feel more stressed this time round like I have forgotten everything from my first pregnancy!

@FiddleLeaf Gosh, you're so right! I probably need to find my stash of midis although I probably need to size up this time 😑 thanks for the tip, I might go check out Arket! We don't have one here so I always forget about it. Love Hush too btw and those Monki smock dresses 👌🏻!

Lovall (was Love Leggings) are good. Although @glasspaw was it you who swears by Lululemon? Do they run TTC? X

yup, swear by lulus. I have 3 pairs of aligns (one in US6/UK10, my normal size, two in US8/UK12). The size up is perfect for comfort in pregnancy, BUT I also wear them when not pregnant for day to day stuff. I couldn’t run in the size up because they would slip down but for everyday wear they’re gorgeous.

for exercise in pregnancy my lululemon fast and frees in my normal size saw me through the whole of my last pregnancy. Stretching them over the bump didn’t affect them post bump either, they’re still good as new :)

ScottishStardust · 04/08/2023 21:38

Nothing seems to 'hitting the spot' for juice.. what's everyone drinking? I need some inspo?

I was always a diet (well zero) fizzy juice kinda person so I've cut back and living on diluting juice with the odd can of juice. But it's not cutting it! I've started having a small carton of fruit juice in the morning to take away that 'unwell' felling but can't live on fruit juice!

macki · 05/08/2023 06:36

Hi everyone, I’m 6+4, 32 and my first. Took us a while! Feel sick when I’m hungry but hungry all the time. Had two days of excess saliva which was even worse. Trying to eat little and often, and loving anything cold. Totally gone off hot drinks which is unlike me but it’s the thought of consuming something that makes me ill, once I am having it I’m fine. Have other symptoms like sore boobs. The dreams are wild! DH has been the best - going out to get me stuff specifically for my comfort which I told him not to bother and that I could wait. Hope everyone’s feeling well

I also have a scan on Sunday morning and I feel extremely anxious! I didn't know if it was due to the impending scan.

My sickness wasn't really bad but any nausea I did have is now mostly gone. The only thing I can't stop doing is farting which is soooo annoying and painful in my belly.

I feel so stressed that they won't see a heartbeat and then I'll be heartbroken

Thanks so much! Going to invest but fancy seeing them in store so I can pick a colour (not in my city but the adjacent one).

@sophieliz fingers crossed we will both have good news tomorrow! Sending you positive thoughts 💕

@ScottishStardust tbh I know it's not great but the few days I've been having irn bru xtra or Fanta/Fanta lemon! It's the only thing that's been clearing that horrible metal taste! That and vinegary stuff, strangely. I've heard lots of people having lucozade to ease with sickness too. I think fizzy stuff is actually supposed to be better for it. I normally drink sparkling water but the taste is a bit hit and miss atm!

Elphamouche · 05/08/2023 20:12

Baby number 1 hopefully! Rainbow baby as sadly we had a MMC in April this year. We think 7+2.

the exhaustion is unreal! Not doing too badly on the sickness front yet, but it was about this time it kicked in last time so I’m braved for impact.

pregancy seems to be going better this time, but I can’t get my hopes up until we get over the 12 week scan.

KatY9876 · 05/08/2023 20:15

@Elphamouche could you get a early scan, you can usually self refer to EPU if you have had 2 miscarriages, or could you get private for reassurance. I had a mmc last December, got early scan at EPU at 7 weeks then private at 9 weeks, I'm 10w 2. X

Elphamouche · 05/08/2023 20:37

@KatY9876 i could, but there’s no point for me. I had 3 early scans due to bleeding last time and they were all positive, we saw baby’s heartbeat.

sadly at the 12 week scan we found baby had died a week after the last scan. So for me there’s absolutely no reassurance. I had full pregnancy symptoms, sickness, exhaustion and positive tests up until my surgery.

m I love that they’re reassuring for others, but they just aren’t for me.

krissy12 · 05/08/2023 22:47

@Elphamouche so sorry to hear about your loss I had the same infeb a scan due to bleeding with a heartbeat and symptoms until surgery
but I just wanted to say if you do get any bleeding (touch wood you don't) then do contact epu because you will probably meet the criteria for progesterone
I had bleeding at 5 weeks got put on it and have had nothing since

Mailys · 05/08/2023 23:49

Really worried I'm having a miscarriage. Been wiping red blood this evening. Nothing is coming thru onto my pad but every time I wipe it's blood, and red. I had spotting with my daughter at five weeks but that was brown. So worried it's the start of a miscarriage. Has anyone else wiped red blood and it's turned out to be ok? Also I do have fibroids so have also been wondering if it's anything to do with that. Been feeling nauseous all day which I'm taking as a good sign ATM!

OhmygoshREALLY · 06/08/2023 00:05

@Mailys i had a biggish bleed last week and have been spotting on and off ever since, pink brown and red. Had a scan today and baby is fine and happy but she could see another sac with the start of something in it but nothing else - she said it was probably a twin that didn’t progress so I assume that’s the cause of the bleeding. I also had a big gush of blood at about 9 weeks with my middle DC, no cause ever found and he was totally fine so it’s not always bad news, although it is always scary. Hope all is ok for you too x

Elphamouche · 06/08/2023 09:28

@krissy12 Thank you, sorry to hear you had the same. If I get any symptoms that concern me or bleeding I’ll definitely go for a scan and speak to EPU. so far so good so keeping everything crossed.
hope all goes well for you too x
