@ChloeN honestly I'm terrified of telling anyone! We need to tell my husbands parents and family after the scan but yeah, terrified! Also have to tell work at some point, I'm hoping not to have to tell them until like 16 weeks or so 😂

@tulipsunday yeah I dunno if we already know if they'll confirm or point anything out but there's only 4 places here that won't tell you and my hospital is one of them! So annoying! They're so strict about it too! 😂
I'm hoping by 16 weeks it'll be clear enough to be fairly sure!

Brokenpancreas94 · 28/06/2023 15:25

@suz2285 oh wow I've never heard of a trust not telling you if it's a girl or boy!

@tulipsunday yeah it was really obvious with my daughter...kept flashing the "hamburger" as the sonographer called it on screen 😂

suz2285 · 28/06/2023 16:12

@Brokenpancreas94 it's quite rare! In Scotland out of every hospital there is 4 that won't! They said it's because if they get it wrong they've been subject to 'abuse' however they've had this policy since the 90s I believe so not a new thing and not likely to change anytime soon! Apparently they have signs on the wall saying not to ask! 🙈😂

Brokenpancreas94 · 28/06/2023 18:39

@suz2285 that's crazy, but understandable!

When I had my daughter there was a woman opposite me she had baby girl balloons next to her bed all girls clothes etc...she ended up giving birth to a boy! They wasn't mad though I don't think!

Ladyinpink1 · 28/06/2023 22:32

Hi @Hankthehonk I recognise your name too from a previous thread, glad you are doing well 🙂 x

@tulipsunday I am interested to see if your nub theory is correct, I paid for the nub techs to do my dc2 and they said 90 something % girl and he was a boy. Lol. They refunded me (i think it was only a few pounds) but I have heard others say it was really accurate for them x

I am only just 4 weeks, and every day feels so long... Did anyone else feel the start goes so slow? Or maybe the whole pregnancy goes slower this time lol.

tulipsunday · 29/06/2023 09:41

@Brokenpancreas94 hamburger lol love it.

@Ladyinpink1 no idea if the nub theory is right or not may be a load of rubbish 😁 is a bit of fun though. Is funny though as has swayed my thinking and I will be surprised now if a girl!

@suz2285 I do totally get that not wanting to tell anyone. I drift between wanting to tell people and then getting fearful about it. I do feel my stomach is getting noticeable now though so people will probably guess. Could get away with hiding for longer with first pregnancy.

Hi all, had two losses - August and March. First time ttc. Am to our amazement, currently pregnant with identical twins. 10 weeks. It's also looking like they are the rarest type. Very hard not to panic that we'll lose them.

suz2285 · 29/06/2023 10:05

@tulipsunday i think the nub theory is accurate at the right time, apparently some can look like girl until a certain gestation when the nub "rises" and baby becomes a boy! I follow a group on fb and they seem to be good at figuring it out but you need a really clear image as well and most scan pictures sometimes don't show the nub or its blurry! I got them to do ramzi theory on my early scan and it said boy, but that one is way less accurate because it's predicting the location of the placenta

@Ladyinpink1 i've looked at nub techs but there's also groups online who do it for free! I might ask about mine when i have a scan pic if we can see the nub! SO far my scan pics look like fuzzy blob and fuzzy frog! 😂Honest the first few weeks are the worst they go by so so slowly! The last few have been a bit better for me so far....

@Brokenpancreas94 haha yeah i've heard about that happening! I do think some people are told early on and just go with it! imagine the shock! It would be nice to have a surprise but i don't think i'm that patient tbh! I'm convinced i'm having a boy tbh but i'd really like a girl so.... who knows

i've also looked at those sneak peak blood tests but they seem to be a bit unreliable due to the high possibility of male DNA being in the sample if you're doing the test at home so it's probably not worth it!

ChloeN · 29/06/2023 10:10

@Ella31 ahh what amazing news 🥰 are you being scanned regularly? Xx

suz2285 · 29/06/2023 10:17

@Ella31 eeee that's exciting, but obviously also scary! the last group i was in before my MC had 2 girls with twins, both seem to be doing well! though i think both fraternal twins possibly! Everything crossed for you!

tulipsunday · 29/06/2023 14:14

Wow @Ella31 that's amazing must have been a real shock. Really hope all goes well for you xx

Just found out my partner's brother and SIL had their 12 week scan today (so they told everyone at about 10 weeks - the innocence of pregnancy when you've not experienced loss I guess). Now I feel even more anxious about my early scan later today 😢I don't know how I'll cope if ours isn't ok x

WitcheryDivine · 29/06/2023 14:24

Good luck for the scan @moosey89

Hoping for the best possible outcome. Just remember you've no reason to think things will go badly, but if they do - your friends and family will support you. You will cope. It will be crap but you will somehow get through it xxx

suz2285 · 29/06/2023 15:15

@moosey89 good luck, keeping everything crossed for you! Totally relate to the innocence of those who haven't experienced loss, it hurts, but you will be fine! let us know how it goes x

tulipsunday · 29/06/2023 15:19

@moosey89 sending lots of positive vibes your way xx

@suz2285 I did the bicarbonate urine test when I was pregnant with my daughter can't remember if it was right or not I think it was though 😂😂but it's an old wives tale I think 😂

Good luck @moosey89 xx

moosey89 · 29/06/2023 17:59

I'm going to go quiet for a bit - 4 days behind (not an issue on itself), but really slow heartbeat. They said it doesn't look good. I'm devastated. Hopefully see you all in 10 days or so if I make it that long and have a better scan x

suz2285 · 29/06/2023 18:08

@moosey89 look after yourself ❤️

tulipsunday · 29/06/2023 19:02

@moosey89 ❤️ we all know that feeling and will keep everything crossed for a positive outcome xx

Meeting · 29/06/2023 19:21

Hi all, just catching up on the thread. We plan to (hopefully) tell our families at 12 weeks, can totally relate to the innocence of telling people early when you haven't had a loss. With my first MC I told everyone a couple of days after I found out at between 6-7 weeks, learned that lesson the hard way!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 30/06/2023 08:49

@moosey89 I saw your update on the Feb thread. Fingers crossed for you for your rescan in ten days. It's going to be an awful wait. At my private scan place they won't even tell you the heart rate because they said it causes too many people to panic, and the risk of loss is elevated but not certain. I hope you're okay x

moosey89 · 30/06/2023 08:57

Thanks @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 - essentially the chance of survival for me is like 0.1% as the rate was so low, so really not getting any hopes up. Just want it over with now.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 30/06/2023 09:04

@moosey89 I'm so sorry. I totally get that feeling, the wait between scans is agonising. Love to you x

tulipsunday · 30/06/2023 17:47

@Meeting it is a tricky one deciding when to tell. I am still feeling unsure about what to do this wkend as having quite a sociable one. I am tempted to wait but as my husband is kindly reminding me it is becoming a bit obvious 😂

So craving sweets today regretting not getting some earlier 😃

@tulipsunday I was the same as you, it definitely influenced my thinking and then when I had a scan and they said boy, I was surprised 🙂 x

Congratulations @Ella31 that's lovely 💜 x

@suz2285 you are prob right about the nub being too early as mine was done on my first scan (12 week) maybe while head shape still changing.
Yes so slow! How far along are you? I'm trying to be patient, it's hard. x
