@SparkleFly ah that's great! Glad they're seeing you soon!! 🥳 haha yeah it might get you some extra care anyway, im 38 but so far nothing extra! All 'normal' I think 40 is the cut off though so you might!

KsMumma · 27/09/2023 21:56

Sorry if the below is triggering for anyone but could really do with some reassurance right now!

Im 13ish weeks and about 45 mins ago discovered bright red bleeding with small clots when I wiped. I’ve no pain and it seems to not be too much bleeding. I had my 12 week scan on Monday and although we saw the heartbeat, couldn’t get accurate measurements or full results due to baby’s position and no matter what we tried it wouldn’t turn - in fact it hardly moved the whole time we were trying.

i’ve phoned the hospital and will get a call back from EPU in morning but I’m completely panicking!
My logical brain knows this is probably the start of another MC (although never had one this far on) but to get me through the next 11 or so hours if any one has experienced similar and it’s worked out ok - I could really do with hearing it.

SparkleFly · 28/09/2023 07:08

@KsMumma oh gosh, how worrying for you. No advice I'm afraid but I hope you can get in to the EPU soon so they can take a look. I always hear people talking about having bleeding but still having successful pregnancies so try to keep positive. I'll be crossing everything for you. x

KsMumma · 28/09/2023 07:29

@SparkleFly thank you. The bleeding has stopped but really want to get in and get it checked out to see if it’s the start of something or anything else I need to worry about. It’s so scary

suz2285 · 28/09/2023 08:49

@KsMumma everything crossed for you that it's just a little bleed and nothing worrying, i'm sure they'll get you in asap!

not sure it's much help but we couldn't get any measurements from my baby at the 12 week scan either, he was moving but not into any helpful positions! Did they want you back in for a rescan or did they say everything looked ok?

KsMumma · 28/09/2023 09:33

@suz2285 just spoken to EPU and can’t see me till 9am tomorrow- not going to be a fun 24hrs!

I think the lack of movement hasn’t helped my anxiety but they have rebooked me for a scan at approximately 16weeks to do the dating and other tests.

suz2285 · 28/09/2023 09:42

@KsMumma i've heard a lot of people say their baby didn't move much at the 12 week scan. But not much you can do except wait, it's such a rubbish time having to wait, hope you can have a busy or quiet day whatever you need to make it to tomorrow morning and hopefully get some answers

it's a good sign if the bleeding has stopped i think!

tulipsunday · 28/09/2023 12:22

@KsMumma so sorry you are having this stress to deal with. Hopefully bleeding is something like a haematoma and nothing to worry about.

Hope scans today go well @TheBirdintheCave and @suz2285

Glad you got the appointment booking sorted @SparkleFly

Bit of a gross one - was worried might have piles or something earlier as everything felt a bit tender down there (!) too scared to have a look though 😂 feeling ok now thankfully! Anyone else experienced this?

suz2285 · 28/09/2023 12:29

@tulipsunday not during pregnancy yet but yes many times in the past 😂 give it a poke and see if you feel anything! In my experience doing something sooner than later is always the best course of action. They can be really unpleasant!

TheBirdintheCave · 28/09/2023 12:39

Scan went well :) Baby is in the right place and measuring correctly. I was very surprised!

tulipsunday · 28/09/2023 12:40

@suz2285 yikes. Noted 😂 pregnancy is so glamorous isn't it!

So pleased to hear this! How many weeks and did they see the heartbeat?

TheBirdintheCave · 28/09/2023 14:40

@FirstTim3Mummy I'm 7 weeks today and yes it was there beating away :D

Amazing! Congratulations 👏🎉🎉
My scan is Monday and I'm a nervous wreck!

Anyone considering the COVID and flu jab and when to take them? My last MMC I was COVID positive and very poorly so I'm anxious if I get COVID I may miscarry but the doctor said it is very unlikely because of that. That was a year ago now.

I hear the latest variant is a nasty one

TheBirdintheCave · 28/09/2023 14:52

@FirstTim3Mummy I was crying before I went into the room. It's such a scary time!

I'll be getting the flu jab yes, but I won't have the Covid one. We caught it at the start of this cycle so hopefully we're protected for a while.

suz2285 · 28/09/2023 14:55

@FirstTim3Mummy i've had my flu and covid just a couple of weeks back, if I wasn't pregnant I wouldn't have bothered probably - as I didn't last year, but yeah I hear the next variant is quite bad and when I did have Covid last year it was really not a fun time - even with 3 vaccines so yeah. I've also heard of it being worse for pregnancy in the 3rd trimester if you catch it later on in the pregnancy.

My mums a midwife and a lot of pregnant ladies had really bad issues with them and their babies early on with Covid, though it's better now I still want as much protection as possible for the baby. Esp since i'm due right in the middle of flu and cold season!

HopeAndStrength · 28/09/2023 15:40

@FirstTim3Mummy I'm 22 weeks along and had my flu jab last week (all fine) and my whopping cough vaccination yesterday (sore arm and headache).

WitcheryDivine · 28/09/2023 15:50

I can’t wait to get my flu and covid vaccines, as I already have a cold and it’s reminding me how ill I got with Covid last year. It triggered a series of infections and I also had a MMC during that so can’t help partially “blaming” how sick I was. I am really scared of being properly ill again.

tulipsunday · 28/09/2023 15:56

Have people been given an opportunity to book a covid vaccine yet? I have just been invited to have whooping cough and flu. I'm 25wks and in the South East if that makes any difference

OP posts:
WitcheryDivine · 28/09/2023 16:22

Yes my doctor surgery did it by text. Maybe call yours or check on the website?

LuneDArgent · 28/09/2023 16:40

@TheBirdintheCave I'm so happy for you! Such a good news 😊

I had my 25 weeks midwife appointment today, everything looked good! (blood pressure, urine, baby's heartbeat and fundal height). She told me that I can book my flu and covid vaccine now if I want them. I will have the flu for sure, but I'm hesitating a bit for the covid one. It's probably not related but my second miscarriage started the day after I got the last booster, so it brings back bad memories... that's why I'm not sure. I had covid last year and it was pretty bad, so I might decide to get the vaccine, I'm just not sure yet.

Brokenpancreas94 · 28/09/2023 16:54

Glad scan went well @TheBirdintheCave
I'm getting my COVID booster and flu jab Saturday, I'd be getting them even if I wasn't pregnant though as I'm type 1 diabetic.
I'm 23 weeks, no mention of whooping vaccine! I did ask a couple of weeks back and it was written down but that's about it!
Baby is very active today!
Had consultant yesterday and UTI has finally gone but I'm now on low dose of preventative antibiotics until I give birth! Delivery was mentioned yesterday and its just made me realise how much of a wuss I am, I feel a bit pathetic really 🤦‍♀️xx

SparkleFly · 28/09/2023 20:11

@KsMumma good luck tomorrow. Now I think about it I don't remember my son moving around much for the 12 week scan. 20 weeks was full-on gymnastics though. Hope it's all ok, let us know how it goes.
