@LittleAlien24 yeah I wish I'd asked about taking a video tbh! Hopefully I'll get better pics from our 12 week scan the machines up at the actual hospital seem better! Or maybe they're just more experienced!

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 17/06/2023 10:42

How long after booking in did people get their scan letters? With ds I got my scan letter the day before my booking in, but I was almost 11 weeks at booking in (late in referral due to previous mc and cps so put off informing)
I had my booking in and bloods done Wednesday.

Good luck to those hiding pregnancy at events, I've got a family wedding when I'm 12 weeks, so going to use the excuse of I'm driving and dh is drinking as the hotel we're staying at is a drive away from the venue.

Although I've agreed to go out on the last day of term and only my phase team and ht know, I'm expecting quite a lot of people to try and get me to drink as we're a school of round buyers 🤦‍♀️ I've moved out of the city, so may need to use the driving excuse again 🤣

Lilothblos · 17/06/2023 11:55

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese I got my scan letter about a week after self referring, which was before my booking in appointment. Hopefully yours will come soon but if not I wonder if it’s worth phoning the midwives?

I’ve got a family wedding at 12 weeks too, but don’t want to tell the wider family just before or on the day because I don’t want it to look like we’re making the day about us! They’ll definitely suspect something but I’m just hoping nobody will be rude enough to ask!

I had a family wedding at 6weeks. My sister guessed straight away, as did my Aunty.

Ttcdcno1 · 17/06/2023 15:31

Scan was great today. Heard the heartbeat 💕and saw little peanut stretching and wriggling around 🥰😍measuring 10w3 rather than 10w1 like I thought so growing away nicely ❤️feel happier after going and waiting for the 12 week scan now if anyone is in 2 minds! Worth every penny if it’s an option

Ttcdcno1 · 17/06/2023 15:32

Private scan went really well - baby was so wriggly! Now have a due date of 30 December but hoping I can stay in this group as will probably be late as it’s my first.

just waiting for NIPT results and I can tell people!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 17/06/2023 16:36

It’s good to see some positive news about scans. Only two days until mine.

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese I got booked into booking appointment and scan at the same time and so letters arrived together lots of time in advance but there’s such a variety in how places do it.

Muriel84 · 17/06/2023 17:12

I’ve fallen way behind here again. After starting to feel like I was just getting over Covid I had a massive bleed with crippling pain yesterday morning. Was sure that was it, though still felt very symptomatic with nausea etc. went straight to epau and fortunately seen and scanned super quickly. Pregnancy fine but uterus full of blood. Have bled so much if I hadn’t had the scan I definitely would’ve thought I’d passed it so very grateful for amazing care and being seen so quickly. Consultant told me it doesn’t increase my risk of miscarriage but having spent this entire pregnancy spotting I’m still feeling very anxious.

Has anyone else had any experience of subchorionic haematoma? The last few weeks has just been one thing after another. I’m so much more symptomatic this pregnancy than with my son, plus so shakey and weak from Covid.

Luhou · 17/06/2023 19:30

Great to hear of positive scans. Sorry you're struggling @Muriel84 sorry you're going through this, no advice but hoping all okay.

Anybody have a drop off in symptoms at 9 weeks? Feel like I've felt nothing for last few days and got me a bit anxious.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 17/06/2023 19:35

@Luhou it’s normal for symptoms to ease off or stop as your placenta starts to take over. I haven’t had anything in weeks.

@Muriel84 Hope things get better for you. Sorry not had any experience so also have no advice.

Luhou · 17/06/2023 19:40

@ThomasinaLivesHere am I to early for placenta to take over though? Just coming 9 weeks.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 17/06/2023 19:56

@Luhou I'm 9w2 and to be honest bar sore boobs (literally localised to my nipples) and feeling a bit sick at 6 weeks I've been absolutely fine this pregnancy. If it wasn't the missing period I'd have no idea... it's made me worry a few times, but I can't justify an early scan, so just going to wait for my 12 week and hope for the best.

Totally different to ds, in contrast I was so ill until almost 20 weeks. I lost weight in the first trimester and then maintained until I stopped being sick, then just piled it on over the last 10 weeks.

suz2285 · 17/06/2023 20:03

@Luhou I had my nausea start to subside around 8 weeks, just past 9 weeks now and hardly any nausea now, still other symptoms but I def feel less exhausted and more like myself! Enjoying my food more and feeling more motivated, I was worried but scan on Friday shows all is fine, the evidence about when the placenta takes over isn't very helpful it mostly says 'before the end of first trimester' 😂 I asked my midwife she said it's normal for symptoms to fluctuate or to go away

My mum said she was sick till 12 weeks with me, 16 weeks with my sister and only felt sick one time with my brother 🤷‍♀️

It is worrying though but it's more likely everything is probably ok!

FirstT1meMum · 17/06/2023 20:07

Having a day full of worry! Not too sure if it's because I'm in an irritable mood, tired or something else haha but I just keep questioning all my decisions and if they're harming baby!

Which brings me to my question, has/does anyone use a weighted hula hoop like the picture? I've been using this now for months and after finishing tonight I'm questioning whether I should still be using this. I don't have it tight (it's looser than a pair of jeans) and I'm always careful I don't get too hot or my HR doesn't get too high.
Not sure if I'm panicking over nothing! DH says it's fine but not sure if he just darent poke the bear 🤣

Due January 2024 🎉 PART 3
Matildahoney · 17/06/2023 20:09

@FirstT1meMum I go to a hula hoop class, I mentioned it to the midwife, she said as it's something I usually do then it's fine to continue.

LittleAlien24 · 17/06/2023 20:36

@Ttcdcno1 @Mushroo that's good to hear yer scans went well. I can't wait to see my little one wiggling.
@Muriel84 84 sorry to hear you not feeling well and about the bleeding. Hope you feel better soon.
@Luhou ou im 10w and unfortunately no dropping in symptoms, well mostly nausea 😏 but i was the same with my 2 other pregnancies. With 1st i was nauseas for about 5 months 😣 boobs still not sore

Wish i could do any exercise. Some days even just going to toilet or kitchen is a struggle because the minute i move/walk i get more nauseas 😩

Mushroo · 17/06/2023 20:39

@LittleAlien24 thank you! The waiting is the worst for sure.

@Luhou i barely had any symptoms to start with anyway but felt completely normal from 9 weeks so don’t worry! Literally woke up and felt great and went to the gym.

FirstT1meMum · 17/06/2023 21:02

@Matildahoney thank you. That's what I thought!

Luhou · 17/06/2023 21:04

Thanks ladies you put me at ease a bit. My first pregnancy I was sick the whole way through and this time round I have been sick but not to the same extent. Just suddenly dropped off the last few days. Sure it will be back soon enough, and I will be wishing it gone again - can't win!

Morematchaplease · 17/06/2023 21:37

Hi all - I’m a late joiner to the group

I’ve been dipping in & out since I found out I was expecting baby #2 still in shock as baby#1 is 9 months old and I’m still trying to keep up with that MN group 🙃

I had an early scan & I’m 8 weeks. I’m from the UK originally but live abroad now so it’s nice to feel connected to home

Currently experiencing constant nausea but no sickness thankfully

lucya66 · 17/06/2023 21:52

Glad to hear it :) my nausea eased off for two days this week then came back with a vengeance today. Sick twice today and feel horrendous. Only thing I want to do is sleep it away.

12 weeks today and first scan on Tuesday. Can’t wait to see the little baba!

Bimbley · 17/06/2023 21:56

My symptoms have definitely dropped off this week too and only 8+5 but healthy scan on Friday so not worried.
So nice to have a bit of energy again, I've been for a buggy run with DS and instead of having a nap when he naps like I've had to for the last few weeks I managed to paint my new kitchen 😀 except now think I've overdone it and am shattered again 😆

Mummyme87 · 18/06/2023 06:53

@FirstT1meMum if it’s the exercise you’re questioning it’s fine to exercise as you were pre pregnancy. Just listen to your body. If it’s the actual specific form of exercise I would say it’s fine now as the uterus is still inside the pelvis but suspect as the weeks go on that won’t be comfortable.

@Luhou my symptoms come and go, or at least fluctuate. I’m incredibly tired all the time, but sickness was bad for two weeks then settled. Now I just find I get that occasional mild nausea especially if I’m hungry.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 18/06/2023 07:23

@Luhou Most information does say “by 12 weeks” and doesn’t go into more detail but “by 12” does imply that’s the latest and some could be earlier. So it might not be placenta taking over but then in this piece reviewed by a doctor on health site (https://www.healthline.com/health/pregnancy/when-does-the-placenta-form#when-it-takes-over) it says: Although each pregnancy is different, you can expect the placenta to take over around weeks 8 to 12 of pregnancy, with 10 weeks being the average time for most women.

Hopefully it is something like this or like others say symptoms can come and go.
