Sorry, I know this has been asked before but not sure how to find it. Which antihistamines are safe to take please?

Luhou · 23/06/2023 19:21

Anybody in maternity clothes yet? Resorted to a hair band as an extender on my work trouser buttons today. I am worried it's twins 😬

FirstT1meMum · 23/06/2023 19:24

Ah thank you all so much! I wasn't given a blood form or anything at booking in so presuming they'll either use the bloods from then or take more next week. Crazy how different all the different cities are.

@Onedayatatime24 that's exactly what I was thinking, I can't wait for work to know why I've been so forgetful and irritable somedays 🤣🤣🤣

@Mushroo amazing news!!! Congratulations 👧

Hummusanddipdip · 23/06/2023 20:00

Ahhh congrats @Mushroo! Lovely news! I wonder if we'll have a 50/50 mix or if it will be one way heavy?

I haven't resorted to maternity clothes yet, although one of the dresses I have bought recently for a party is a maternity dress, but I'm hoping it hides the pregnancy rather than shows it. I'm concerned people are going to guess at my cousins wedding in July, I have my 12 week scan on the 7th and the wedding is that weekend, I already look obviously pregnant at 10 weeks, but I don't want to potentially steal the excitement of the marriage from them, if that makes any sense? So was going to wait for a few days after the wedding before I announce.

Told my HT that I'm high risk today to give her the heads up that I've got 5 scans in autumn term, she asked why and I explained that my son was small, she laughed and said 5lb10 isn't small... it is top end of small at full term, he came bang on 37 weeks, so technically full term 🤷‍♀️ my phase team think this is going to be a big baby because I look 4/5 months gone already, I think I'm bloated to be honest. I doubt I'll hit a 7lber, dh was less than 7lbs at full term and I was 6lbs4 at 41 weeks according to my mum... plus babies gave no chance of being big, I'm 5ft and dhbis 5ft8...

Sorry just rambling, some comments have irritated me and its been a hard day.

sashastuck · 23/06/2023 20:08

@Mushroo aahhhhh so cuteeeee! I can’t wait to find out what we’re all having. We decided on a girl name today (had boy name forever) so now I’m just excited for either!!

@Hummusanddipdip sorry that your HT was a bit rude - that’d annoy me. Hope you have a stress free weekend x

lackingpatience · 23/06/2023 20:12

I asked my GP friend this about two weeks ago, and she said chlorphenamine maleate is fine. She said try and avoid things if you can, and it’s not that they’re unsafe, it’s generally just that not enough research has been carried out to define them as “a ok” which applies to basically all medicines during pregnancy.

Luhou · 23/06/2023 20:35

@Hummusanddipdip sorry you've had a crap day. Your HT sounds harsh. I work in a male dominated enviornment in a bit of a old boys club industry so ready for comments like this from some of my team. I am trying to keep my pregnancy hidden until after my scan but I'm coming 10 weeks and already massive. I was bloated last pregnancy but this time round my bump is firm.

Trust your gut with regard to baby size. I kept being told my DD was 10lber by midwives she was 6lb 7.5oz

Luhou · 23/06/2023 20:38

On another note my heartburn is next level this evening. Gaviscon not even touching it

Matildahoney · 23/06/2023 20:48

@Luhou I'm 12 + 1, some standard clothes I can cope with, resorting to stretch dresses and some maternity trousers/jeans, I'm definitely only having 1! A few things I've brought on holiday with me planning to wear have had to go back in the case to be put away until next year!

Luhou · 23/06/2023 20:50

@Matildahoney I'm the same, literally 3 loose fitting dresses which I am rotating on my days off and work clothes becoming a nightmare.

I remember thinking 1st time round, is it twins. They do run in my family though so think that's why I'm on high alert 😬

Vikki7 · 23/06/2023 20:57

@Luhou I've been in maternity clothes since 9weeks. I can't seem to bare anything pressing against my tummy. I tend to be a lot more sensory when I'm pregnant. Not that I have a bump, more bloated because I'm obsessed with carbs!

I am definitely bigger this time than my previous pregnancies. I didn't even have bloat or look bigger when I went on maternity leave with my first. My colleagues were asking why I was on leave and had no idea I was pregnant!

With my sons pregnancy, I had growth scans due to previous SGA baby. I had one at 40 weeks. Midwife asked me how many more growth scans I had as I looked nowheres near term. I'd always wanted an obvious baby bump and hopeful I'll get one this time!

LittleAlien24 · 23/06/2023 20:58

I didn't fit into my normal jeans at week 4 already 😒 that point i didn't know i was pregnant and could not understand why i was so bloated. Im now 10w6d and still have the bloated belly just bigger lol. On night time when i lie down i can see tha actual bump 😊 thankfully i have some normal dresses i can wear for a while.

Luhou · 23/06/2023 21:00

Pleased it's not just me that's not fitting into my clothes. @Vikki7 fingers crossed for a big bump this time round.

Mummyme87 · 23/06/2023 21:08

Loratadine is the safe antihistamine alongside chlorphenamine. Centreline is okay but not recommended as first line. Fenofedaxadine isn’t recommended due to lack of research

Onedayatatime24 · 23/06/2023 21:12

@FirstT1meMum ha glad it's not just me! I'm sure some of them have guessed already anyway as not had my usual coffee and haven't remembered a thing for weeks 😂

I'm not in maternity but have lots of loose dresses already anyway, can't stand my jeans or anything tight on my tummy. I just compared week 7 and week 10 pics and it's quite a difference which I didn't realise! Pretty sure it's all bloat and constipation... I bought a maternity jumpsuit a couple of days ago and looked like a picnic bench in it so will probably stick to my normal floaty dresses until proper bump makes an appearance.

buckingmad · 23/06/2023 21:13

@Luhou i had horrific heartburn with my first, at one point I was sleeping sitting up
and waking up with acid in my mouth. Gaviscon did nothing but omeprazole completely took it away.

Luhou · 23/06/2023 21:15

Ooh thanks for the tip @buckingmad I didn't particularly get heart burn first time round, odd how no two pregnancies are the same

buckingmad · 23/06/2023 21:26

@Luhou the old wives tale is heartburn means a full head of hair which mine did have!

Hummusanddipdip · 23/06/2023 21:55

Thanks guys, she's usually quite nice but she's been under a lot of pressure and stress over the past few weeks. We've had several year groups moderated since half term... bit mental.

I can definitely support the old wives tale about heart burn and a full head of hair, ds came out with the most beautiful head (and back and legs and arms) of thick dark hair 🤣🤣🤣

Matildahoney · 23/06/2023 22:05

@Mummyme87 thank you! I thought it was you that posted originally but I wasn't 100% sure!

sashastuck · 24/06/2023 12:39

My hormones are absolutely doing my head in today at 12+3. All I’ve done is cry, or try not to cry, all day

Kalodin · 24/06/2023 13:26

I've come up in an awfully painful rash, I'm wondering if maybe its hives? From the antihistime talk, can I take piriton as its the only thing in my cupboard

Salamander91 · 24/06/2023 14:04

@sashastuck same here except I'm just unreasonably angry 😅12+3 also lol

sashastuck · 24/06/2023 14:30

@Kalodin sorry you’ve got a rash :( I know nothing about allergies and medication so can’t help you there but hope it gets better fast. I’m listening to a podcast and the woman said she got a hives in first trimester as well.

@Salamander91 nooo, it’s awful! I feel SOOO hard done by which I’m not, but I just want to be looked after for the day without having to do anything!!!

Kalodin · 24/06/2023 14:41

Oh I love a good podcast, do you recommend it @sashastuck
