I had my 12 week scan today and everything went well although now my due date has been changed to 29 December so officially not a January baby anymore. Good luck to everyone with scans coming up.

Lilothblos · 19/06/2023 15:48

@ThomasinaLivesHere lovely news! Congratulations! Think you might have been the first 12 week scan on here? Hoping there’s plenty more good scan results to come on this board!

Glad your scan went well @ThomasinaLivesHere 🙂

I can't believe we've finally started to have dating scans! Reaching that point just seemed so far away for so long, I feel like I've known about this pregnancy for at least a year and a half 🤣

Mushroo · 19/06/2023 16:14

@ThomasinaLivesHere that’s great! Are you
planning to share your news more widely?

I have mine tomorrow. Absolutely terrified tbh, I’ve convinced myself from my scan pictures on Saturday there’s fluid behind the babies head, I need to step away from google so it can’t come round quick enough!

Salamander91 · 19/06/2023 16:15

I went for my dating scan today and it was so stressful. First my bladder wasn't full enough so they couldn't get good measurements. Then they realised I shouldn't have even been seen at that hospital because I'm diabetic so they couldn't do my booking app or bloods so I have to go to the other hospital on both Thurs and Friday for that 🙃 very annoying but at least I got to see baby had a heartbeat today and was jumping around.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 19/06/2023 16:29

@Salamander91 It’s good you got to see baby but sorry things were stressful.

@Mushroo Good luck for yours tomorrow. I’d stay away from google. I think scan pics can look so strange and you can see all kinds of things that very likely aren’t there.
We’re planning on telling immediate family this weekend as it works out well that my son’s birthday is this week and family are coming over for that so we’ll tell then.

@PartRadish I know what you mean about the time. It did always seem so far in the future.

@Lilothblos Thanks! Yes hope to see more positive news.

Mushroo · 19/06/2023 16:35

@ThomasinaLivesHere thats a lovely occasion to tell people! How perfect, you must be so excited now :)

MsLaidBack · 19/06/2023 17:02

@suz2285 lets hope he finds it in him to be empathetic because I don't think I'm going to have good news tomorrow. The bleeding is getting heavier and the clots bigger 😔

Booklover88 · 19/06/2023 17:54

Hi all, not posted for a while-I struggle to keep up with all the messages!

Our scan is on Wednesday. We did get a NHS one at 6 weeks (we had fertility treatment) but that feels like a very long time ago!

Really looking forward to not having to keep it a secret anymore!

good luck to everyone who has scans coming up

suz2285 · 19/06/2023 18:00

@MsLaidBack so sorry, I hope you are ok

@ThomasinaLivesHere so exciting! Happy birthday for your son and what a fun day to tell people as well ❤️ did you get results re high/low risk from bloods etc back immediately at your scan?

Hummusanddipdip · 19/06/2023 18:53

A lot to catch up on today.

Although you're feeling negative @MsLaidBack I still hope tomorrow is positive, but look after yourself. I hope he finds some empathy!!
@ThomasinaLivesHere what a lovely time to tell family! We were going to use our sons birthday too, but are at a family wedding the same weekend, so just feels mean sharing that news at the same time?
I hope the scan goes well tomorrow @Mushroo
And I hope your bereavement midwife had been able to get thing sorted for you @Kalodin

I got a text from my gp this afternoon asking me to contact my midwife as my urine sample showed thrush, and now I'm on a google spiral 🤦‍♀️

Panapan · 19/06/2023 18:53

@Kalodin I'm so sorry you had that experience today. I’m not surprised it was triggering.

I must say I’m not filled with confidence about my hospital either. Both my nearest hospitals got “requires improvement” for maternity in the most recent CQC reports. 😩

sashastuck · 19/06/2023 19:09

Gosh this thread moves FAST!

@ThomasinaLivesHere great news about your scan! And exciting that you may have yourself a 2023 baby!!
@Salamander91 glad your scan looked good as well! Sorry it wasn’t the best experience but the fact you saw baby is amazing.

@Mushroo hope your scan goes well!

Can we start comparing skull and nub pics soon when we’ve all had our 12 weeker? I want to learn how to spot boy and girl 🤣

@MsLaidBack so sorry that you’re expecting bad news, I really really hope that you see healthy baby tomorrow. I think in this thread there’s been a couple of women with bleeding that has turned out to be okay. Will be thinking of you x

@Hummusanddipdip ahhh annoying about the thrush! I know a girl who had thrust throughout both her pregnancies. Babies fine. Good job they’ve caught it early 😊 out of curiosity, how soon after your appointment did they text you those results? I had my urine done well over a week ago and wondered if I had a UTI but not heard anything yet. Hopefully that’s good news

Mummyme87 · 19/06/2023 19:17

@Panapan about 50% of maternity units in the UK require improvement from cqc. My trust had cqc and we know it is at least requires improvement due to staffing, leadership and triage. This government have a lot to answer for!!

Mummyme87 · 19/06/2023 19:18

Got another appt through this evening, this one with maternal medicine in 3weeks. Got my consultant appt in 5weeks. The times are rubbish 😬 3pm and 3.30pm, ideal when I’ve got two school runs 😂😂

Hummusanddipdip · 19/06/2023 19:19

@sashastuck my appointment was last Wednesday and I got the text this afternoon, so 5 days. But I'm with a practice that has 4 or 5 sites if that impacts time frames?

I understand your lack of confidence @Panapan the hospital I gave birth at wasn't an awful experience for me, bar being put off going in initally and then having a super fast labour (notes are waters broke and baby born 4 minutea later) But I've had 2 family members and a really good friend give birth there since and one of my cousins and my friend almost died due to the care they recieved, my other family member had a horrible experience even with a planned section 😞 I haven't looked at the ratings, I've got 2 choices and I have chosen that one due to proximity, but was told in my appointment that I could potentially be sent to the other if they don't have space for me... the other has a brilliant reputation, but it's an hours drive down the A1.... not sure I could do that distance with how fast ds came?

Kalodin · 19/06/2023 19:23

That's like with mine too @Panapan , both under the same trust, both require overall improvement but their maternity and surgery performances are where its really lagging behind.

I've requested that I see no one now apart from my bereavement MW and my Consultant for the remainder of the pregnancy and that's been agreed. I trust my Consultant, she was the only one who listened to me in last 2 pregnancies and completely advocated for me.

Yes yes yes @sashastuck I LOVE a good nub picture and working out boy or girl on it. I always do it with my colleagues, friends and family member scan photos. I never tell them ofc! As no one else I know ever finds out the sex before birth!

@Hummusanddipdip Thrush is super super common, I beleive its something like 1 in 3 pregnant women get thrush when pregnant. It's always recommended to treat though, even if symptomless, as there's certain type of fungi that cause thrush that can lead to complications (which I've experienced) worth pointing out its super rare though. But research does support treating all thrush as a way to prevent complications. (I can link anyone to peer reviewed articles if they want to, I went a bit mega geek on it all with my Consultant).

Ah what a pain though @Salamander91 ! Great baby looked great on the scan though, really hope Thursday and Friday go smoothly for you.

Muriel84 · 19/06/2023 19:58

@sashastuck i spent so long staring at my scan photos and googling nub theory and got it wrong! All good fun tho

LittleAlien24 · 19/06/2023 22:06

I was so happy today that yesterday half a day i felt better and today had quite a human feeling lol well it was too early to celebrate. In last hour I've thrown up twice and feel so sick 😔 all these weeks just a nausea and now when feeling better im starting to throw up 😩

@Hummusanddipdip i had thrush with both my previous pregnancies. 1st was worse. Got the cream for it because it can be worse when left untreated.

Nellynoo182 · 19/06/2023 22:16

Hey ladies!

Hope you don’t mind me joining.

I’m due 21st Jan with my second little one. I am only 7 months postpartum with my first so it’s fair to say the pregnancy has been a bit of a shock! 🤣 My DS was born premature so I am really hoping I manage to make it to term this time 🤞🏻 Looking forward to hearing all about everyone’s pregnancies progressing and some scan pics!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 20/06/2023 06:06

@Nellynoo182 Welcome and congrats!

@MsLaidBack Sorry about the bleeding hopefully it is just one of those bleeds that stop and everything is fine.

@suz2285 I’ve still to receive blood results which they said could take up to 10 days so I hope if there is something they contact me this week but obviously could be next week. The NT measurement looked normal so that’s good as they use that with the blood results to give odds. I suppose it’d be more cautious to wait another week before telling family but since we’re having family over we’ve decided to go ahead and tell them.

@sashastuck I was looking at my scan pics yesterday and trying to work out the nub and skull theory. I think though that different pics match different sexes 😂. I also got my son’s scan pics out to compare but found it hard. If anyone wants to guess I can put some scan pics up. We will be finding out soon so will be able to confirm if you got it right.

suz2285 · 20/06/2023 06:29

@ThomasinaLivesHere my pal had a phone call within 3 days when her bloods were a bit out, so If you don't hear soon id say all ok! 🥳 glad the nt was good, that's the bit I'm worrying about now!

Def post the scan pics! There's also loads of fb groups to post nub pics for guesses! I've already done the ramzi theory but it's not as accurate haha! You have to have quite a clear scan with the nub to make a decent guess though!

sashastuck · 20/06/2023 07:32

@ThomasinaLivesHere yes post the scan pic! We can all have a vote 😂

Lilothblos · 20/06/2023 09:18

I hope you get some good news today @MsLaidBack

OP posts:
Mushroo · 20/06/2023 09:22

If everything goes well this week I’ll post a picture - the NIPT will tell me sex this week / next week so you can use my pic to test out nub theory!

I think it’s a boy based on nothing.
