@Fi2788 I'm so sorry ❤

Salamander91 · 18/06/2023 18:31

@Vikki7 congrats on your baby boy! 💙

I have my dating scan tomorrow. I should be 11+5. I'm so nervous 🙈I had this really strange tingling sensation in my back last night that was really annoying and a sore gum too so I didn't sleep until 5am this morning. I'm so exhausted today!

Misspotterscat · 18/06/2023 19:10

@Fi2788 I’m so sorry

Misspotterscat · 18/06/2023 19:13

Thank you for all the well wishes for my scan. All looking ok, strong heartbeat and measuring exactly right. Unsure why I was spotting which is frustrating as I’m a control freak and like to have the answers, but so grateful that all is ok ❤️

Muriel84 · 18/06/2023 19:33

@Fi2788 I’m so sorry this happened, just the absolute worse. Take care of yourself. X x x

sashastuck · 18/06/2023 19:40

@Fi2788 so very sorry that this has happened. Please look after yourself xx

@MumToBeInSpain Welcome! Sounds awesome over there with the extra scans!

@Vikki7 @Misspotterscat amazing to hear your news!

Does anyone think they’ll do a gender scan around 16 weeks? DP and I have bought a bit for baby this week and the clothes we’ve gone for are definitely on the more boyish side, WHY are all the girls bits sooooo pink and frilly 😂 Have actually struggled to find nice unisex bits unless it’s plain white.

buckingmad · 18/06/2023 20:05

@sashastuck i did with my first. I think this time round we’ll just wait and go to the nhs 20 week one

suz2285 · 18/06/2023 20:14

@sashastuck yeah I think we might, but not sure! I think the nhs here won't tell you the sex at all so im not sure if that'll be the only way for us to find out!

LittleAlien24 · 18/06/2023 20:18

@Vikki7 congratulations
@Salamander91 all the best for your tomorrow's scan.
@Misspotterscat that's good to hear all is good
@sashastuck i don't think im gonna go just for gender scan. Im hoping to find it out during one of my many scans im getting anyway. If by 20w she can't tell me anything then I'll look into it.
I was looking into primark here last week and bearly no neutral baby clothes.

I've my screening bloods tomorrow morning and straight after that appointment for endocrinologist.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 18/06/2023 20:27

It's only in the past 5 years or so that our trust has started telling parents sex again, they stopped in the early/mid 00s. We were given the option with ds but chose not to, we're going to this time.

I had strong feelings from the start that ds was a boy, but no idea this time... dh and ds want a girl, I'm not too fussed, does anyone else have any thoughts on sex? Or just hoping they come out healthy and safe?

After seeing the midwife last week, we've decided there isn't a reason to pay for extra scans, especially as I've been offered 6 scans due to my risk factor. Would it be strange for me to take the grandparents to a scan each? This is definitely mine and dh last child, so likely to be ils last grandchild as sil has no interest in children, potentially the last for all least a few years as db and his fiancé are unlikely to have children for a few years yet (plus they're stateside, so unlikely for parents to be as around for him sadly)

Ttcdcno1 · 18/06/2023 20:31

We’ve decided to have a gender scan at 16 weeks 👍I need to know 😂

Muriel84 · 18/06/2023 20:47

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese im with you, the baby’s sex is the last thing on my mind. Just want a healthy baby! We didn’t find out the sex with DS despite a lot of scans and I thought I was having a girl for some reason!

@sashastuck that’s annoying you can’t find gender neutral stuff. I think some websites organise things boy/girl/unisex if you’re looking online. I had my DS in feb and didn’t know he was a boy so I have a lot of gender neutral clothes right for the time of year.

LittleAlien24 · 18/06/2023 20:51

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese no it's not strange to take them to scan. If i remember correctly then my fiancé went to his daughter's scan (it was his first grandchild).
I have my 16 year old daughter with me on every scan and doc is really nice about it.

Muriel84 · 18/06/2023 20:53

Are people taking their partners to their booking appointment? I had DS in feb 2021 so DP wasn’t allowed to come to appointments. I’ e no idea what the norm is!

Dannic2018 · 18/06/2023 20:55

I think because I’m having my 12 week scan at 11 weeks I won’t be able to do the nub theory so think I’d like to find out at 16 weeks if we have the spare money or wait till 20 weeks. That’s only because of our 2 year old and I kept the first 6 months of clothes etc from him and I like to be organised. I knew it was a boy with him from the off it was strange but this time I just don’t know, alot are routing for a girl then we have 2 of each but honestly as long as he/she is healthy I’m happy

ThomasinaLivesHere · 18/06/2023 20:59

@Fi2788 So sorry for your loss. It’s such a difficult situation to deal with. I wish you the best going forward.

@Misspotterscat great news about scan. I was the same and would have liked to know why there was some bleeding but I guess it’s just something that happens.

@Vikki7 That’s good it turned out well. I’m thinking of doing the test too.

@sashastuck We didn’t find out the sex until birth last time and so this time we’ve decided to find out early. We’ll likely do it through a private scan. It’ll be interesting to know so early to prepare name and clothes. I do like neutral baby clothes as I think babies look sweet in white but there is less to choose from.

Redpanda21 · 18/06/2023 21:02

@Fi2788 so sorry for your loss xx

ThomasinaLivesHere · 18/06/2023 21:04

Like a few others on this thread I also thought I was having a boy last time but this time I’m also not sure. I’m curious to see the 12 week scan pic and how they compare to my son’s. My husband thinks it’s a girl as this pregnancy has been different.

PartRadish · 18/06/2023 21:33

So sorry @Fi2788 x

LittleAlien24 · 18/06/2023 21:44

@Muriel84 if my partner would be here with me then yes I'd be taking him with me to every appointment.

My first scan was at 6w. I thought first it's tv but it wasn't so i asked my gp (he's gyne aswell) can my daughters 16 and 17 can come in and he was like yeah of course and nurse seemed to be happy i wanted my kids to come in.
He said we might not hear the heartbeat but he did all he could to find it and showed and explained everything to my kids. It was soo sweet.

Mummyme87 · 18/06/2023 21:52

Ah congratulations @Vikki7

Mushroo · 18/06/2023 22:44

@Muriel84 I wouldn’t bother for the booking appointment, it’s just a load of questions about your medical history, urine sample and blood test. Nothing exciting about the baby at all.

I think he’d get asked to leave for some of it as well because they talk to you about domestic violence risks.

Salamander91 · 18/06/2023 23:01

I'm planning on booking a gender scan for 16 weeks. I'm too impatient to find out😂I have 2 boys and a girl already so no strong feelings about what I want this time although my daughter has been asking for a baby sister for a while now lol

Mummyme87 · 19/06/2023 06:36

My OH only comes for big scans, so nuchal and anomaly. Really don’t see the point in him coming to appts unless he particularly wanted to. Maybe if I wasn’t a midwife he would..

cant believe I’m 10weeks on Wednesday already. The weeks are starting to speed up.

I’ve told a few more people now like my dad, and another best friend. Think I’ll tell grandparents this week.

Muriel84 · 19/06/2023 07:19

@Mummyme87 ah 10 weeks already! How are you feeling?

I think cos DP was so excluded from everything first time around it would be nice for him to feel more involved. The worse was 4 days on post nates and he wasn’t allowed to visit. I can’t really remember much about my booking appointment first time but I thought this time they might ask about my first pregnancy and delivery. I guess cos I’ve had quite a tough first trimester and a few risk factors for preterm/poor growth we might talk about that too which would be useful for DP. Maybe cos I’m medical and he’s not it’s also helpful cos he’ll have different questions to me.
