Thought I'd start a new one as the old one is full!

I'm 37w exactly and definitely starting to feel more Braxton Hicks (they woke me up last night) but they don't seem to be getting more intense/frequent. Also a bit of lower back ache and general bump tenderness, plus I think I've lost a small bit of my mucus plug. Think this is probably normal at this stage and just my body gearing up for labour but am quite nervous as have a c section at 38+3 and hoping to last till then! Second pregnancy but last baby arrived at 36w so feels like uncharted territory!

How is everyone else feeling?

@Kelvie103 It was so hot when I went in, the handheld fan I got from Amazon was a life saver, but I’d recommend taking two - one for your birthing partner too

HasHus86 · 20/06/2023 07:56

Gave birth to my gorgeous baby girl last night at 38+4 weeks.

Contractions started at 4am yesterday but they didn’t get any stronger or painful and eventually died down around noon. I spent the rest of the day thinking that it was false labour. Lost some of my mucus plug after those contractions too. Contractions started again around 6pm while taking a shower and boy did they come with full force this time. Initially I thought it was false labour again and was trying to do everything to keep them going (had a one hour walk on the living room 🙈). At around 10pm I couldn’t take it anymore and called maternity assessment and they told me come straight away to get checked. At this point I still thought I wasn’t going to be dilated enough and would get sent home. Little did I know that my water would break shortly after that call and my contractions got horrendous and baby girl was bearing down and was ready to be born. I almost gave birth on the way to the hospital. I just remember screaming “I need to push!” and begging the midwives to let me push as I was being wheeled to Labour suite.

She was born at 11.17pm after 12 mins of pushing. She’s 8lbs 3oz (exactly what they were predicting her to be at my last growth scan). I got a second degree tear which has been all stitched up and will hopefully go home this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

She still doesn’t have a name yet as hubby and I are still deciding on that.

I wish everybody whose still waiting for their babies to be born an easy delivery and a speedy recovery. This thread has helped me through my pregnancy a lot and I’m kind of sad that it’s coming to an end. ♥️

@HasHus86 congratulations, she's beautiful! I love her babygrow too, it's so pretty. Glad you managed to get to the hospital on time and hope you can come home soon.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/06/2023 12:41

@DrinkingAllTheGin I'm having same issue! DD outgrown her tiny baby stuff now. Need to go in loft and get out the 0-3 month size. She's spilling out of these sleepsuits. She's a right little chunk.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 20/06/2023 13:46

@BellaTheDarkOverlord
DD is long and skinny. DH is 6ft4, and I'm 5ft on a good day so she certainly takes after him.

Been discharged from the midwife team today. DD is 2 weeks old and back up to birth weight. It's hard to believe that I could carry that weight in my tummy!

Givealittlebit · 21/06/2023 02:58

Oh I managed to find the thread again! So many gorgeous squishy babies, congratulations to everyone!

I did update the fb group but not sure if it's being used much or mines just playing up.

Our little girl joined us in the early hours of Father's Day, in very fast and dramatic style so no pain relief!
7lb3oz, all lovely and healthy and we're getting used to being a bigger family

Well that was it ladies. Saturday 17th our little double rainbow entered the world at 11:34 and I can’t take my eyes off of him. Either though he chose to come early, I still got to have a lovely relaxed gentle c-section and it was so perfect. 37 minutes from start to finish and here he is.

@Givealittlebit @Baby3herewego Congratulations on your beautiful babies! ♥️♥️

C1umsyGiraffe · 21/06/2023 14:01

Another one for the list, she came on Monday morning after quite a quick labour! Had some internal bleeding so surgery afterwards but home now and doing better everyday! Completely in the newborn bubble could not be happier!

toomanysausages · 23/06/2023 10:07

@Givealittlebit @Baby3herewego @C1umsyGiraffe Congratulations all! I hope your babies are settling in well and you're getting some sleep! Dd does what we are calling "snacking" where she'll take lots of milk sometimes and then have a sleep or she'll take little snacks over an hour two so sleep is wherever we can grab it! Not expecting any routine yet though and very much enjoying this stage - it really is wonderful 🤍

To those of you bottle feeding do you have an idea of how long it'll take my milk to dry up? My milk came through on day three (absolutely horrendous and had cabbages on my boobs in my bra) and although my breasts are no longer engorged they're still leaking milk and soaking my nipple pads and still somewhat painful (although nothing compared to when it came in).

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/06/2023 10:16

Congrats on new babies! So lovely to hear so many doing well x

@toomanysausages sorry no advice on breast milk, mine never came in unfortunately. My dd slept 4 hours last night on a row, I'm so pleased. First time she's done it. We've now swapped from cow and gate first milk to SMA comfort. DD is struggling badly with tummy ache so we've switched and she seems better last night. We have paediatric app next week for her review so I'll discuss with them as she's had diarrhea a week now. Sometimes she'll take 5oz and sleep 4 hours or 2oz and wake up frequently.

Hannah310523 · 23/06/2023 19:56

@toomanysausages My son is seeming to have tummy ache after feeds and is currently on Aptamil advance, did you switch to comfort under dr advice or just made the switch? I really want to try him with the comfort as I hate seeing him in pain. We’ve tried bicycles, massage, reflexology, paced feeding, sitting up, burping more ect ect

C1umsyGiraffe · 24/06/2023 02:37

Thank you @toomanysausages!

She's doing really well and breast feeding is going well (but if anyone's counting they're both bleeding 😂). She'll either have a really good feed and not want it again for 4/5 hours or she'll feed and then be hungry again in 15 minutes so we're the same, sleeping when we can! Looking forward to getting into a routine but I know there's not point for at least 3 months!

toomanysausages · 24/06/2023 10:51

Dd on Aptamil and I thought we had no issues until last night and this morning. She's very windy and uncomfortable but I did swap her bottles two days ago so possibly it's delayed wind from that?

@BellaTheDarkOverlord hopefully the paediatric appointment will be helpful. Also Hannah's reply is for you but I was accidentally tagged.

@C1umsyGiraffe sounding good! Apart from the bleeding.. ouch! Blush I know what you mean regarding not expecting routine. But I can wish! Dd has had a couple of lovely nights but then last night reminded me that newborns don't keep routines. Very tired today 🥱

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 24/06/2023 11:33

@Hannah310523 She's not seen gp as cant get through on phone to see them. I just switched her to comfort as it contains less lactose. She seems a bit more settled but still having explosive poos every time. I'll see what doctor says at paediatric app on Wednesday and if we need to change milk again we will. Also this milk is so thick it's such a massive pain to mix. Perfect prep won't work for it. I'll let you know what advice they give me.

Hlc86 · 26/06/2023 16:23

How's everyone doing? The heat has been intense so little one has been struggling to settle at night at the moment, also she's been feeding every hour for the last 3 nights and has been taking 120ml at a time 😣 she's definitely making up for being a low birth weight

Hoppyhops · 26/06/2023 23:12

Anyone still waiting for their baby to arrive? It’s my due date today so the midwife booked me in for a sweep and it was pretty rough. She said my cervix is very hard as she could only get the tip of her finger in so couldn’t do a proper sweep. She’s booked me in again on Thursday but I think that’s the last chance before we start talking about induction- which I really don’t want. I feel a bit deflated. It also really hurt which makes me feel like a wimp and worry more about how I’ll cope with labour.

natkasz · 27/06/2023 06:24

I'm still pregnant (40+3 today) and I'm going to refuse a sweep as my DS has got a high fever and don't want him to pass anything on the baby.

I'd lie if I said that I was not disappointed as the DS arrived a week before my due date whereas this time round there have been no signs of the baby arriving and, similarly to you, I want to avoid getting induced. Fingers crossed it will happen this week for both of us xx

🙋 Also getting a sweep today but I'm on the fence about it.

Hoppyhops · 27/06/2023 07:27

@natkasz
Hope your DS is on the mend soon! It must be harder when you’ve already had one DC early, the expectation is higher. I was convinced I was going to be early all the way through so it’s getting hard to accept the fact that this baby is very comfy in there and wants to stay longer. Hopefully it’ll be this week! 🤞🏻

@ScrantonDunderMifflin Ohh I’m glad I’m not alone. I feel the same about the sweep on Thursday, given I found it quite painful, but I also don’t want to be induced. I will say though, that I think it only hurt because my cervix is nowhere near ready, so yours could be in a ‘more favourable’ position!

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 27/06/2023 07:34

@Hoppyhops are you also getting extremely emotional or is that just me? 😂 Super scared of going 'too overdue ', especially if the hospital is too busy and they can't induce at when the limit is.

Hoppyhops · 27/06/2023 07:45

@ScrantonDunderMifflin Not just you! My day is a rollercoaster of emotions at the minute, coupled with extreme boredom as everything is done and I’m just waiting. I’m really trying to just take each day as it comes and not think too far ahead at the ‘what ifs’ but it’s difficult as time goes on. How long will they let you go over in your trust? For ours it’s 40 + 12 which seems so long 😩

Either 40+10 or 40+12, will need to check today! However, there are lots of horrid stories about people going past that due to no beds 😟 the stories are from 2 years ago though so maybe things are a bit better now!

Hoppyhops · 27/06/2023 09:22

@ScrantonDunderMifflin Oh no, that’s not good - hopefully that’s no longer the case! Hope all goes well with your appointment today!

Rlt8990 · 27/06/2023 11:29

Yep still in the pregnant club, 41+2 today, booked for induction just need to wait a slot. Was a bit unsure but my last was born at 41+5 and I'd rather get going tbh! Have had 2 sweeps so far. My trust start booking at 41, probably so they can push you back if no beds
