Thought I'd start a new one as the old one is full!

I'm 37w exactly and definitely starting to feel more Braxton Hicks (they woke me up last night) but they don't seem to be getting more intense/frequent. Also a bit of lower back ache and general bump tenderness, plus I think I've lost a small bit of my mucus plug. Think this is probably normal at this stage and just my body gearing up for labour but am quite nervous as have a c section at 38+3 and hoping to last till then! Second pregnancy but last baby arrived at 36w so feels like uncharted territory!

How is everyone else feeling?

Thank you ☺️

Coffeeforlife · 28/05/2023 10:27

Morning, I'm due July 1st but looking like an induction is now likely so I doubt I'll make it that far..... hope you don't mind me hopping on! Is there a Facebook group for the thread or is it MN only?x

BobbySD345 · 28/05/2023 11:28

@ireneadler101 similar to me. Went into labour naturally at 37 weeks with 1st and so it was just a bit of a surprise and we rolled with it. Now I sort of know what to expect it all feels very uncertain and I'm symptom watching a lot. I've also got the hicks, period cramps, back pain and losing mucus most loo trips. I'm 36 weeks.

Thank you for starting the new thread ✨️

C1umsyGiraffe · 28/05/2023 16:46

Thanks for starting a new thread! Hope everyone is doing okay 🥰

ELW2006 · 28/05/2023 20:33

Hi all!

I've not posted much on these threads but have been following closely and thought I would update.

Our due date was 25 June but our daughter was delivered early at 34+2 by emergency c section due to me having three large bleeds over three days which they are pretty sure was placenta prévia (sp?) (I had a low lying placenta throughout pregnancy but a scan at 33+5 showed that it had moved).

She spent 3 days in neonatal care getting some help with her breathing and we then spent 4 days on postnatal ward before being discharged home last Tuesday when she was a week old.

We are absolutely smitten with her! She's brought us so much joy already and we just can't believe how lucky we are to have her. We waited a very long time to be parents and she really has made all our dreams come true.

I'm still following the thread to follow your stories and wishing you all the very very best of luck!

Lots of love xx

C1umsyGiraffe · 28/05/2023 21:29

Congratulations @ELW2006 !! Glad you're both home safe and sound! 💛

rllrsk8 · 28/05/2023 22:26

Massive congratulations @ELW2006! So pleased you're both recovering well and home again. Enjoy every moment xxx

justbelieve · 28/05/2023 22:55

Is anyone harvesting colostrum? I tried it for the first time tonight and managed to collect 1ml! I’m so happy! 🙈

tigerlily0 · 28/05/2023 22:56

I'm still waiting at 39+4 weeks! Some times I feel period pain type cramping but apart from that, literally nothing! It's my third and I'm symptom watching but feel like I have forgotten it all

Ally1992 · 28/05/2023 22:57

Thanks for starting a new thread, can’t believe my little boy is 1 week old already today. Hopefully some more babies will make their appearance soon!

Dewintergarden · 28/05/2023 23:04

Congratulations @ELW2006

BobbySD345 · 29/05/2023 05:18

Congratulations @ELW2006 ! Must be the loveliest feeling to be home with your new addition ❤️

@justbelieve I have bought the syringes to start. How many weeks are you?

Almost phoned triage last night as I had painful hicks every 5 minutes but I managed to drop off to sleep and woke at midnight and they'd stopped...!

PurBal · 29/05/2023 06:04

@ELW2006 congratulations, I’m sure you’re glad to have her home.

@justbelieve @BobbySD345 I am! 38 weeks today and started at 36+6. I’m very impatient and lose drops when I get into the swing of things which then irritates me so I’m taking it slowly. Wanted to do twice a day but not practical with the toddler. So I’ve got 3 syringes in the last week (which represents the number of days he’s in nursery 😂)

@DrinkingAllTheGin Have you had an opportunity to rest this weekend at all?

@ireneadler101 thanks for doing this

I was thinking he may come early but in the last week not so much. I’m getting excited and want to meet him now!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 29/05/2023 06:51

@PurBal yes I've relaxed fairly well. Yesterday we had a roast in a local pub, they coped very well with 20 of us.
We head home this morning and there should be enough people here that I can just Direct.
I even had a proper Gin last night. Lots of tonic.

Yesterday we strapped a watermelon to DH to do the watermelon challenge. I think he now understands the difficulties we have just moving around!

justbelieve · 29/05/2023 08:49

@BobbySD345 I’m 36+4, I mentioned it to my midwife at my 34 week appointment and she gave me around 10 syringes and said I could start from 36-37 weeks, so thought I’d give it a go!

@PurBal that’s amazing that you’ve filled 3! I also want to take it slowly and not put pressure on myself, but if I can I want to try every night before bed

tigerlily0 · 29/05/2023 12:58

Feeling some period type pain again today. Probably won't happen today but wondering if it's a bad idea labouring/giving birth on a bank holiday. I feel like there will be no staff, am I being silly

DrinkingAllTheGin · 29/05/2023 13:03

I would imagine it makes no difference, maternity is a 24hr department in my trust, and although some staff may be off, they would reduce the elective procedures

Conundrum12345 · 29/05/2023 13:12

Can I join? Due on July 2!

rllrsk8 · 29/05/2023 22:21

Welcome @Conundrum12345! Not long for you to go - isn't it only about 5% of babies arrive on their due date, anyway?

Mummy2Girls22 · 29/05/2023 22:38

@ireneadler101 please can I be added due 28/6 😍
Congratulations to all the ladies that have had their gorgeous babies already 💙💗

toomanysausages · 30/05/2023 00:24

Thank you @ireneadler101 for new thread!

Huge Congratulations @MrsP4 and @ELW2006 on your new additions! 🤍🤍

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and c section is booked for three weeks time. I'm so excited, literally counting down the days. Spent the weekend painting and clearing things out. Thought I had reduced movements yesterday so went in and baby had a lovely time kicking and jumping about 🤣 Midwife said it's frequency they look for, not intensity of the movements and where I've been so busy she had just probably woken up because it was the evening so could be why I hadn't felt her much. Have Braxton hicks often. Anything sets them off - needing the loo, standing up, baby movements etc. The baby monitor at the hospital picked then up too and registered it as a contraction. Braxton hicks getting very uncomfortable now as are some of babies movements especially when she is near my bladder Blush Hope everybody else is doing well

Kelvie103 · 30/05/2023 09:16

Has anyone not had any braxton hicks at all? Everyone keeps saying to me I bet you're feeling alot not but nope, nothing. Worrying it will mean baby will be really late but my midwife said not everyone feels them but I havn't found anyone else who's not had any at this stage. I have had a bit of mild period pain and lower backache very occasionally so don't know if that's it but no tightenings in my bump. Also no sign of colostrum coming in or anything. I'm 36+3 and had a little go the other day and absolutely nothing. I know it's not strictly needed and midwife said it doesn't mean it won't come in once baby is born but it does make me feel a bit of a failure that it seems to be everywhere now and I can't do it.

Fredthespider · 30/05/2023 09:34

It's looking like I'm in for a long latent phase of labour, at least it better lead up to something happening! Contractions started 3am yesterday morning, and by 5am my app was saying it was established so I got up, woke my husband and called my dad to come and get the older two. Then everything calmed down. All day yesterday until around 6pm they were coming every 5-10 minutes and lasting anywhere from 30-90 seconds. Managed to sleep overnight with nothing, and then this morning they're still there but not as regular.

I'm super frustrated. My husband was talking about going and getting the kids back but my dad lives an hour away so the idea of having to worry about childcare again stressed me out, but I don't want to take the piss and expect them to look after the kids for what could be another week. I just don't know what to do and I'm annoyed that I was so excited yesterday morning thinking he'd be here that day.
