Thought I'd start a new one as the old one is full!

I'm 37w exactly and definitely starting to feel more Braxton Hicks (they woke me up last night) but they don't seem to be getting more intense/frequent. Also a bit of lower back ache and general bump tenderness, plus I think I've lost a small bit of my mucus plug. Think this is probably normal at this stage and just my body gearing up for labour but am quite nervous as have a c section at 38+3 and hoping to last till then! Second pregnancy but last baby arrived at 36w so feels like uncharted territory!

How is everyone else feeling?

It's our last weekend without bubs, c-section booked for Tuesday.
What would you do?

I am planning a final Big Clean of the flat, although I'm pretty much on top of it, hoovering under sofa etc is off the cards for me. Dh is home and will do the heavy stuff.
And a nice lunch in the sun with DH at a local pub.

What else would you plan to do?

@PurBal my first son was 12 days over! I remember getting really annoyed with ppl then too. This is only 2 days over and I didn't even tell ppl my due date, just kept saying end of May. Iv decided not to take calls now unless it's immediate family and select friends.

My first was 12 days as well and I was ready to throw my phone at the wall every time I got a text from a minor relative or friend saying "Hurry up baby!" Currebtly 37+5 and already stressed at the thought of it again! Been very twingy with this one though so hoping that's a sign I might not be waiting as long

Hlc86 · 03/06/2023 08:52

@DrinkingAllTheGin that all sounds lovely for a final weekend, think mine will just be cleaning (even tho like you I am on top of it) might get the grass cut too. My other half is at work so can't really plan much, I will take the dog for a long walk too. Was originally booked in for Monday but it's now booked for Wednesday I will be 37+4. Have you had your pre op yet? Had mine yesterday and my mind went blank and didn't ask any questions 😅

BobbySD345 · 03/06/2023 09:09

I've taken to just saying "any day now" when strangers ask when im due because if I say end June I get the "wow will you make it to then?" Or "gosh are you sure there's only one" and I'm just tired of it. I know they're just making conversation but I'm grumpy and big and hormonal now haha. And family do their best to say the right thing but comments like I've dropped or I don't think you've dropped. She doesn't look ready to me etc are so unhelpful. I'm already over thinking everything!

BobbySD345 · 03/06/2023 09:13

Does anyone know when they tend to do sweeps from and whether you can request one? My sciatica and PGP are bad and I'm not sleeping. Plus the braxton hicks are next level but they're not getting any more frequent so they're not turning into contractions. Just wondering if I can speed it along lol.
Also, should I order a ball? Is anyone else using one? I didn't get round to it with DS1 as he was early. Tempted to order one off Amazon.
We have my parents ruby wedding anniversary party this afternoon. The weather looks lovely and everyone is very excited and all I keep thinking is how uncomfortable and hot I'm going to be. Such a grouch !

AngelBlue12 · 03/06/2023 09:27

@BobbySD345 at my old trust (Huntingdon,Cambs,Peterborough) unless there was a problem they wouldn’t do a sweep until 40weeks. Not sure about here as I’m being booked in on Friday for an ECV and managed induction for sometime between the 12th and 16th. My due date is the 18th but they don’t want me going over because of meds, age and breech.

Belami · 03/06/2023 09:38

@BobbySD345 I'm in the same boat re SPD. It's been bad from really early in pregnancy so im absolutely exhausted now from lack of sleep. People keep telling me to go for long walks to help start labour but I can barely walk now so thats out of the picture 🙈

I've got a sweep booked in for next week but I'll be 40 weeks by then but I'm sure my midwife said I could have one from 39!

Also I've had a ball from about 28 weeks as it was recommended to me by a midwife for spd as I constantly have to change positions and the ball is a good one to take some of that weight off of your hips. Not great on the lower back for me but good thing to have to change up posture etc. Plus they're meant to a good thing to use at the end of pregnancy for labour!

Me and dh dtd last night to help get things started and I had some constant light cramping all night but has stopped now, not turned into anything 😣

Síomha · 03/06/2023 09:41

Hi everyone,

I haven’t posted since the very beginning as I was plagued with hyperemesis and it was quite an eventful pregnancy but thankfully all is well with me and little one. Currently 37 + 1.

I just came by to ask what people are planning on/ are dressing their little ones in at night. Our bedroom’s range at the minute is 22-24; I’m thinking a short sleeve vest and a 1 tog sleeping bag, but perhaps that’s even excessive for 24 degrees (morning temperature, sun beaming on the window).

I’ve had two September babies so a little summer newborn is uncharted territory!

@Hlc86 pre op is Monday afternoon.
We are starting the last weekend with a lay-in. The cat is put out as hecwants DH up to play with, but he will have to wait.

Hlc86 · 03/06/2023 10:21

@DrinkingAllTheGin ooo a lay in! Can't beat them 😍😴. Haha pets hey, I had to get up at 6 as the cat starts crazing me for food and he's very vocal 😂. Hope all goes well at your pre op, with my trust they said they hope to discharge me the day after, I was surprised it can be so quick

@firsttimelondonmummy hope all is going OK with your induction and little one will be here soon

PurBal · 03/06/2023 10:21

@DrinkingAllTheGin sounds lovely! We’ve taken DC1 to feed the ducks and visit the local market. MIL is here now after my false alarm last night so she’s taken some pressure off.
@BobbySD345 40 weeks for sweeps here (BANES) my next appointment is 40+3 but that’s not until 15th

I have had SPD this time too and struggling with walking. However with baby 1, I didnt have it and was regularly doing hour long dog walks, she still came at 41+5 so who knows! Been very hard not exercising or being active. Agree with the ball as well, had mine a while now. Plus the usual Raspberry leaf tea, Pineapple etc from 37 weeks! Trying to stay relaxed but its not easy. The nice thing is this time because of when due date is I know bbay will be here or on the way by end of the month so there is an end in sight...

Yeh iv said this month now but then they ask the date! Frustrating, my parents are quite fixated on due date despite me saying to be on alert from 37 weeks ! I keep getting comments saying my bump doesn't look big enough for full term and comments also saying "wow your so big!" It's soo annoying!

@BobbySD345

I had a sweep at my 38 week appointment. I was actually 38+4. Wasn't meant to be going in for one but I'm booked for induction next Sunday at 40+2 (due to GD) and I'm really not keen so trying to "beat the induction". So yeh they offered it at my routine midwife appointment. Sadly she couldn't do the sweep as not ready but she did say my cervix was very soft which is positive, and they are going to try another next week :)

I have a ball and use it a few times a day...I'm not sure if it's helping anything progress but it does help my back. I'm also drinking raspberry leaf tea.

ireneadler101 · 03/06/2023 19:07

I went for a private scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre this morning, more for reassurance than for any particular need as I'm booked in for a c section on Wednesday at 38+3 (baby is SGA and around 4th centile). I was expecting to be told all was well and to feel a bit embarrassed about going again, but as it turns out the blood flow to the baby is showing as slightly compromised. They've said that Weds should be ok for c section but if I have ANY concerns about baby's movements that will be enough to bring delivery forward. So I have a fun few days ahead monitoring baby's movements like a hawk! A similar thing happened with DS1 so it's not unknown territory (in fact we've got 2 weeks further down the line this time) but worrying all the same. Anyone else in a similar boat?

@Síomha hello, I'm expecting my third too and been lurking on this thread recently.

Mine are all summer babies, at this temperature I was usually just putting them in a nappy and love2swaddle zippy up thing.

DH and I also had this saved as a note on our phone for all our babies so whoever was doing bedtime could have a little check.

BobbySD345 · 03/06/2023 21:34

I've just ordered some raspberry leaf tea on Amazon actually! Also had some pineapple earlier on a fruit kebab whereas I have been avoiding it up to now!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 03/06/2023 22:36

Strangely I'm avoiding all baby out activities now.
I was going to start the raspberry leaf tea and ball bouncing etc this week in hopes of avoiding induction but now either c-section booked, I want to keep bubs in!

toomanysausages · 03/06/2023 22:51

@BellaTheDarkOverlord I always thought that preemies had their ages rolled back a bit for milestones - so she would be in line with due date rather than actual birthday if that makes sense?

Thanks for list @Mistymeow - must add flip flops! Good luck for Monday!!

@DrinkingAllTheGin - sounds like a lovely pre baby weekend! For my last weekend pre baby I'm having my hair done and will be lazing about the house! Although the reality is I still need to do outside chores over the next weekend or so (secure chickens and horses etc as don't fancy tending to them if they escape)!!

@Síomha - I’m thinking along the same lines as you but with sleep suit over the top as I’ll have my air conditioning unit running by then so temp will be quite a bit cooler (hopefully).

@ireneadler101 - glad that you have a date booked for a section - that must be a relief. I'm not quite in the same boat as you as I have an elective section booked for the 20th but baby had gone down the percentile chart and was measuring just above 10th centile (from at last growth scan at the end of April). Skip forwards to now and I had a midwife Appt on Thursday and my fundal measurement has gone from 56th to 20th so my growth scan has been brought forward by a week (to next week instead). I’ve had scans before but can’t help but feel like her growth has gotten slower and slower. And I have mentioned this three times but was told as long as she is over the 10th centile we aren't worried. But she has gone down and down as she used to measure at about 50th. Still lots of movements in the evenings though - my poor ribs - ouch!!! Shock

Hlc86 · 04/06/2023 09:13

@ireneadler101 my little one always measured just above the 10th and last week when I went for my presentation scan they suddenly realised she hasn't grown since 34 weeks and is now on the 5th so booked in for a c section on Wednesday, she's still footling breech too so there wasn't the option of a natural birth either and they said they don't like little babies going through labour as they get distressed, even tho each consultant has said something different

Hlc86 · 04/06/2023 09:15

@toomanysausages that was ment for you sorry 😂

Dewintergarden · 04/06/2023 19:43

I've just had my pre-op assessment and an mrsa swab was taken, I mentioned to the nurse about using an ointment and hibiscrub a few years back for major surgery and she said oh you had mrsa then. I'm now really stressed that my ELCS will be cancelled on Tuesday if I am positive for it. Has anyone else had this? I'm not sure why my pre-op assessment was left two days before the ELCS. Honestly, I feel like it is one thing after another that I'm stressing over at the moment.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 04/06/2023 20:18

@Dewintergarden my pre op is tomorrow for my op on Tuesday. Im trying not to worry.

Hlc86 · 04/06/2023 20:39

@Dewintergarden I wouldn't worry, my nurse said it my swab came back positive they just tell you to shower with their special soap( can't think of the name) before surgery but surgery wouldn't be cancelled? So try not to worry

Dewintergarden · 04/06/2023 20:50

Thanks @Hlc86 it's hibiscrub but takes 5days I think from memory to work.
@DrinkingAllTheGin My consultant has just replied to my message saying that the surgery will be delayed for the amount of time if I am positive. I'm just so upset and spiralling. I hope you have good news tomorrow.
