I had my 16 week midwife appointment today and got to hear the heartbeat! My DS was with me and this was the first time I’ve told him there’s a baby in my tummy, he got very excited but now I think he’s forgotten about it haha.
3.5 weeks until my 20 week scan, it feels like too long but I’ll try not to have a private scan before that..
Hope everyone is doing ok 😊

I have hay fever, I've been taking cetirizine. It's not drowsy and safe in pregnancy, my eyes are so sore though!

Is any one else still ridiculously tired?! I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and I'm seriously barely functioning. I went to bed at 8:30 last night and I usually go at 11-12. I was expecting the tiredness to relent a bit after the first trimester but it hasn't, it's really getting me down.

I'm constantly tired , even though I go bed early I wake up tired . I've been keeping myself busy in the day to help me sleep at night , I go on long walks every day in the evening for an hour to see if helps . Hopefully it settles down soon for you and the tiredness eases soon xx

38andtrying · 27/05/2023 08:19

@Travellingislife you're lucky your midwife checked on the baby, at my 16 weeks appointment coming up they don't and im riddled with anxiety so I have to book a private scan, If they listened to heartbeat I'd be content and wouldn't need one. I hate how care is inconsistent between trusts and also very different in the north of Ireland than England. I'm 16 weeks on Monday, thinking of booking scan for then. Glad your appointment went well and son is excited x

Chellooo · 27/05/2023 09:30

@38andtrying I'm from the North as well and when I was booking my midwife Apts, she told me to bring my partner to my 16 week as they listen for the heartbeat for the 1st time with a doppler... weird it's such inconsistent info! I've my apt next week so will let ya know how it goes x

38andtrying · 27/05/2023 10:26

@Chellooo thats so annoying, I'm from armagh, using daisy hill hospital but they've sent me to banbridge a town i dont know and 40 mins from my house for my midwife appointment as apparently armagh community midwives will no longer accept daisy hill patients, on top of that they won't listen for heart rate and I'm super anxious having had a missed miscarriage last year, it's really annoyed me and I'm actually upset about it tbh, I don't think it's fair I have to pay for a private scan to get some reassurance.

Chellooo · 27/05/2023 11:25

@38andtrying that's so shitty! I'm in the Belfast Trust so maybe that's why it's different, but still it should be consistent across the board! I'd a mmc last year as well so completely get your anxiety... maybe worth having a chat with your midwife about it when you see them to see if they can offer reassurance?

PinkPlantCase · 27/05/2023 13:43

Hi All, I’m joining in for the first time 😊

My EDD is 20th November, though this is my second baby and first was 8 days late, so I’m just working on the assumption that baby will probably be born sometime before December 😂

DS will turn 2 in a few weeks, he talks about mummy’s baby which is quite sweet though I don’t think he really knows what’s coming. He still breastfeeds once a day in the morning, mostly for convenience because it gets me an extra 20 minutes in bed. We keep saying we should wean sometime before the baby arrives but I’m not fully convinced we’ll get round to it especially if it means I get less time in bed!

Somehow I already have what feels like a huge bump, I’m sure I was smaller than this at 20 weeks last time even though I’m not 15 yet 🙈

I told my employer at around 9 weeks, I had some dizziness and last time it put me in bed for a few weeks but this time it wasn’t that bad but I still needed a couple of days off and I didn’t know if it would re-occur so thought it best to tell them.

LilmissCa · 27/05/2023 20:09

@38andtrying did they not scan at the quadruple test?
I ended up cancelling mines (altnagelvin) I thought it was just the blood test & didn't want my age to affect the results & freak me out. But when cancelling there was a consultant appt at same time for a scan as part of it. And the midwife confirmed (once I cancelled) they would have scanned me too. Regret cancelling now!!

Very annoying it is all so inconsistent.. even just across the trusts in NI!
I would def chat to your midwife tell her your really worrying

38andtrying · 27/05/2023 22:19

@LilmissCa no scan just a blood test unfortunately, I was hoping there'd be a scan too

Chellooo · 27/05/2023 22:28

When did you have the quadruple test? I haven't been offered this? 😕

LilmissCa · 27/05/2023 22:46

@Chellooo in NI we don't get screening at 12wk scan (nuchal translucency) it's basically on dating & check if single or multiple pregnancy. So they offer another blood test at 15/16wks to check for risk of abnormalities.
@38andtrying has described it better on down this post

Chellooo · 27/05/2023 22:58

@LilmissCa this is crazy! There is no consistency here. I'm 17 weeks and have had nothing, since my 12 week scan 😖

Travellingislife · 28/05/2023 06:26

@38andtrying it’s very inconsistent, it’s such a worrying time and it’s not easy for mumma’s to be. I would do a private scan too if I were you, it’s not good being so anxious and it will ease it a bit.

Hi @Jenyrichy
sorry you experienced this. If you’re worried best thing you can do is contact your early pregnancy unit.

spanglesj · 28/05/2023 18:03

Hiya, defo recommend a 16 wk private scan, for anyone worrying, if you can afford it. (Obvs not fair on those who can’t) really helped me to have it yesterday. And now we know the sex too! Starting to feel more real. x

38andtrying · 28/05/2023 18:23

@spanglesj I've booked one for Tuesday, really praying all goes ok, I do think if it does I may actually start believing I'm having a baby

spanglesj · 28/05/2023 18:51

Will be thinking of you @38andtrying ! And yep - it totally helped with that. Esp as rn I feel like it’s hard to distinguish between bloat and bump ! X

FfoxRedN · 28/05/2023 22:03

@38andtrying hope all goes well 😊 x
@spanglesj I know what you mean. In the morning it's a very small bump, by evening time I feel the size of an elephant. I've also just sorted through my old clothes and throwing out those I am never going to fit into again, it's hard to get used to this new body! I hope the bloat goes soon 🙏🏼 xx

LeeanneD11 · 29/05/2023 00:19

When did everyone start showing? This is my 3rd baby & im 14 weeks today , finally in second trimester hoping the tiredness eases off soon .

I feel like I've still got the bloat feeling and I should have bump by now.? As it's my 3rd baby

Is anyone experiencing this? Is this normal lol 🤣

Everyone has noticed I'm pregnant but before they know I could be fat or bloated lol 😂
Hope your all enjoying the lovely weather ❤️❤️

Sabahh · 29/05/2023 01:16

@FfoxRedN I wouldn’t worry about binning clothes too much if you’ve got space to store it to wait and see. Everyone’s different but after about a year I was back into the clothes I wore pre pregnancy. With the exception of some jeans because I think my hips are just a bit wider now. And things that are too short to wear when chasing after a toddler 😂

@LeeanneD11 how old is your second? I had my first almost 2 years ago and have had a proper bump from around 13 weeks. It’s popped so early this time! I’m guessing thats because it hasn’t been too long since I was last pregnant

5 Years old . I thought I would of shown earlier as my body is used to being pregnant before lol 😂. But maybe I'm just still bloat and can get away it with longer lol 😂 xx

LilmissCa · 29/05/2023 13:29

Has anyone had a stomach bug during pregnancy?
It seems a million times worse cuz I'm pregnant, I've had HG In pregnancy but this is a other level. Finally had HG settled & gotten over covid to have about 4 great days of energy now to be hit again!
Just wondering will I bounce back quick or will this linger? If anyone has experience

Feeling very sorry for myself today!
