Luckily I'm in a position that I can take Mat Leave as soon as I can so I am going on Mat Leave when I am only 29 weeks with two weeks of annual leave before that so I've only got two more weeks of working which cannot pass quickly enough and then I will be taking all the naps!

I hope that you start to feel better soon thought I've heard it only gets worse from here energy wise 😂

Mldn · 04/08/2023 12:04

@TMI2000 oh amazing! Enjoy your maternity leave. I actually left work early in my pregnancy due to other factors. So I’ve had a lovely time whilst off, albeit felt slightly useless some times as I had a high pressured corporate job! But now I’m so thankful I don’t have work to worry about as today all I’ve done is cry over being so tired 😅 and I imagine that’s only gonna continue as the weeks go by x

TAW2502 · 04/08/2023 12:14

I'm curious - those of you that know the gender of your baby, what has its heart rate been when checked at midwife appointments? 😊
We didn't find out what we were having but I've read that apparently boys heart rates are lower than girls so I'm curious as to what ours potentially could be if that is true (although probably just a myth) 😅

Mldn · 04/08/2023 12:32

@TAW2502 I am having a boy & at 20+6 his HR was 150 & 25+4 it was 139

Psqueak87 · 04/08/2023 15:18

@medicmumma my partner and I always had the agreement that if and when we had a baby (we’ve been trying for 8 years) I would take 6 months leave and then he would be a stay at home dad for a year or so till we could put baby in daycare. But now it’s actually happened he doesn’t want to take any time off as he wants to “provide” which I understand as it hurts his male pride to stay home. But the unfortunate fact is that my salary is 2-4 x higher than his so i would really like to go back asap and start saving for a house again. I say this now but when baby is here maybe I’ll feel different and want the whole 12 months off. Here in Canada my work will pay me my full pay for 4 months, and then I will go on the dole for the remainder, and that can be up to another 8 months. We can get by on that though, so I’m not worried, but there will be no saving done whilst I’m on dole, and we really need to buy a house! Right now the nursery I’m setting up is in our only spare bedroom, which is tiny. And with both our sets of parents now obviously wanting to fly over and visit more we can’t remove the big queen bed from that room as we need it for them. It’s fine for the first 6 months or so, but baby will eventually need its own room.

I just booked my maternity leave for October 30, due date November 5th.

@TAW2502 I’m having a girl. HR is almost always around 155 ish.

On another note I got my 4d ultrasound this week at 26+3. She scolded me and told me I should have come at 24 weeks for best photos but I was still happy with what I got! I paid the equivalent of around £70 for what was advertised as “15 mins scan with baby & 1 photo print” but what I actually got was about 75 mins scans with baby and a load of printed photos and video files to bring home.

I really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone!

Not true for me, my little boys heart rate is usually 145-150bpm!

DollyGx · 04/08/2023 18:24

@Psqueak87 awww they are fab! I’m so torn about getting a 4d scan. I’m getting another scan on the nhs at 30 weeks (albeit not 4d obv) so I’m not sure if it’s worth me going for a 4d one too but you’ve tempted me now actually! 😬 I thought you were best to go around 27/28 weeks! Thought 24 weeks might be too early!

Psqueak87 · 04/08/2023 19:05

@DollyGx Yeah everything I read online said 27+ weeks. But when I called to make my appointment she said for small build 24 weeks, medium 25-26 and larger build would be 27 weeks. She said if I had waited another week she wouldn’t have even done it. I would call your local place and see what they like, I think every ultrasound tech must be different. I haven’t had a scan in about 6 weeks, and won’t be for another 7 so I wanted to bridge the gap. But also it was nice not to feel rushed, she gave me loads of info I hadn’t received in medical scans. Like baby weight, what weight she predicts at birth, and her predicted due date.

These are amazing! I'm 27 wks today so not far off you. Do you know if you're having a little boy or girl?

Psqueak87 · 05/08/2023 15:46

@amispeakingintongues hi, yep having a girl! We found out very early with the NIPS blood test, about 11 weeks, I have zero patience so I wanted to know ASAP 😝

I just loved the ultrasound, no hurry, a full 60-75 mins watching! Would recommend to anyone, and will deffo do for any future pregnancy!

amispeakingintongues · 05/08/2023 15:48

@Psqueak87 aww congratulations i thought baby looked girlie 💞 i'm having a girl too. Best of luck with everything xx

Psqueak87 · 05/08/2023 19:44

@amispeakingintongues best of luck to you too! I’m officially third trimester today and shit is beginning to feel very real!

amispeakingintongues · 05/08/2023 19:54

Exciting! Are you due 4th/5th November?? X

amispeakingintongues · 05/08/2023 20:26

@Psqueak87 sorry forgot to @ you!

Spareincoming · 05/08/2023 21:25

Hey all, it’s been a while!
I’ve just got back from a weeks camping with my youth group. I won’t lie, the first few nights were a challenge but I overcame!
I am also now dealing with gestational diabetes and don’t feel very supported but I am managing so far.
That diagnosis might bring my c-section forward which would be chaos as I’ve got childcare for around the current date but that would be unavailable for the possible new date! My consultant is on holiday though so no decisions will be made for ages!

Just keep swimming!

GreenAventurine · 05/08/2023 22:24

Hi ladies. Those of you who know you’re having csections, have you discussed dates yet or is it far too soon?
Ive not seen my consultant yet - I have a feeling I might this week as my liver is playing up. Can I expect him to discuss this with me? Or is he likely to put it off for a few more weeks.

Thack · 05/08/2023 23:23

@GreenAventurine it might be too soon, I'd guess it varies by trust and how much circumstancea could change. I'd ask the question! They should be able to give you an idea of how many weeks they want to get to.

I met my consultant this week and I asked if I'd have to be on the hospital labour ward (I was considering home birth). They couldn't say for definite but it's likely to be in the hospital from what they said. I don't see the consultant next til 36 weeks, pending ok scans. I'm glad it's low risk enough to be so far away but my first DC was early so who knows if I'll make that appointment!

Psqueak87 · 06/08/2023 02:31

@amispeakingintongues yep! My pregnancy app says Nov 4, dr has Nov 5 and my ultrasound tech from the other day predicts Nov 1! How about you? It gave me a kick up the arse to buy a few essentials today!

Still gotta get the two main things: car seat and bassinet/cot, but I’m keeping my eye on those to see if they go on sale!

@Psqueak87

Oh same! I'm down for the 4th too. I really hope i'm not birthing on bonfire night though with all that noise and traffic to deal with, although the 4th is a Saturday night so not ideal either way! This is my second, and my first arrived on his due date so I'm not sure what to expect with this one...awww yes car seat. I have a lot of the essentials already I just need to wash them/ bring the down from the loft. We did buy a new SnuzPod yesterday though which was a relief to get sorted. First babies are so fun i loved buying all the fresh new things 🥰

Crazybrowncow · 06/08/2023 07:31

@GreenAventurine my consultant and MW have both said I would have an appt at 36wks, pre op at 37wks and that's when I would find out a date and that they try and do them as close to 39wks as possible.

I've been in hospital over night with bleeding on and off since yesterday lunchtime. I'm staying in tonight too. They are concerned about pre-term labour. Baby seems to be doing ok, it's all so worrying though.

PinkPlantCase · 06/08/2023 09:05

@Thack if you think you might want a home birth it’s much easier to get the arrangements in place with your trust and then change plans later to birth in hospital if you need to than do things the other way round. If you wanted to hire a pool for example you’d probably want that booked before 36 weeks.

Some trusts have dedicated home birth teams where home births are what they do all day. Where I live they take over antenatal care (apart from consultant appointments obviously!) so that you can get to know the team in advance of the birth.

GreenAventurine · 06/08/2023 09:09

I had my son at 35 weeks by elective c section so I’m keen to discuss before 36 weeks. I freak out if I don’t have a plan in general but I guess you can’t plan everything.
@Crazybrowncow I hope you and baby are doing ok and they are monitoring you well.

Sb86 · 06/08/2023 10:17

@Crazybrowncow you're in the best place, have they said what has caused the bleeding? Hope it all stops soon and you can get home x

38andtrying · 06/08/2023 20:03

Hey girls, hope everyone is doing well and happy, when is everyone looking at sorting a hospital bag? I am 26 weeks tomorrow and thinking by 30 weeks would be wise, just incase. What you all think?

And anything other than the obvious you would think to add in ?
