I have found a bite size chocolate cake that gets baby wriggling. If I must eat it to check baby's health then so be it!!! 😂

Reassuring to hear real life "movement" experiences. I can't remember how often I'd feel movement with DC1 as I wasn't anxious during that pregnancy.

However, I've had a miscarriage since so am far more cautious this time round.

I'm 25 weeks and some days feel hardly anything. I do have a posterior placenta. As PP says, I generally feel happy if I feel some nice movement at least a couple of times a day.

I find she moves most after I eat a huge meal (last nights loaded nachos and chocolate pretzels worked a treat!!)

WhiteJasmin · 31/07/2023 11:24

@Psqueak87 my friend who runs marathons uses the baby jogger (3 wheels). I hear 3 wheels are good to navigate through grass/terrain. I was also told at the shops it's probably better to get a pram with a bassinet rather than the seat capsule because the seat capsule you can't put the baby in for long since they need to lay flat as newborn.

Psqueak87 · 31/07/2023 15:15

@WhiteJasmin thank you! I had heard three wheels were best for trails but I’m finding it hard to find it as part of a travel system. I liked the one linked as you can actually lay the seat flat in it for a newborn, but there’s probably no point me buying it if I can’t walk it where I want. I may just go with my original plan to put off buying the pram till spring and use a carrier till then!

WhiteJasmin · 31/07/2023 17:02

@Psqueak87 yeah if you need to go through grass etc. Sounds like it's best to go for the 3 wheel option. I won't likely be running with the baby but will be using the carrier for things like hikes and dog parks. I might buy a second cheaper/compact pram for travelling that I can carry on the plane with.

Has anybody got a baby moon booked? I’m looking for ideas. I really wanted a week in the sunshine but the timing isn’t great with school hols & prices going up so much! Debating going the first week in September, but I’ll be 31 weeks then & unsure if it’s too risky & whether I’ll even enjoy it being so far gone! Staycations in the UK are also so expensive it’s hard to justify staying here rather than going for some sunshine!
I am 26+4 & the tiredness has defo came back over the last few days. Wondering if my second trimester peak of energy is subsiding! When does trimester 3 begin? I find the weeks are different amongst all of the apps!

Psqueak87 · 31/07/2023 17:24

@Mldn I also really want a week in the sun, I’d have no issues going, only my boyfriend can’t get any time off at all in the summer. I have 5 days off in august and considered going on my own, but I’d only be bored on a beach on my own. So I’m going to go and see my brother in the Rockies instead. It’s only a 4 hour drive for me and I’ll be amongst the mountains so it should be relaxing!

anybody else anaemic? I always have low iron, but dr just called and said I’m anaemic so we will try new iron tabs. I feel like just skipping them all together and paying for a transfusion privately…

Cegbee · 31/07/2023 17:27

@Mldn during my first pregnancy (also born in November) we went to Ibiza at the beginning of sept. Stayed in an adults only hotel, it was amazing. I was 32 weeks ish and it was perfect timing. I think as long as you're not too high risk (because you need a note from your doctor/midwife) and you're going somewhere with decent health care then it's a good time to go.

spanglesj · 31/07/2023 17:59

Hi all has anyone had lower abdominal cramps at all? I’m away and have come to the delivery suite to get checked out. (25 weeks) No urine infection found and now just waiting for a doc. But just curious as to whether others are having any? I’ve been so stressed this week. And my partner is away so I’ve been doing all of the heavy lifting with my toddler. It might just be that. Or growing pains. Hard to know. Any thoughts welcome! Think I’m in for the long haul waiting to be seen!

38andtrying · 31/07/2023 19:14

@spanglesj hope you're seen soon and its nothing, let us know how you get on. Better the long wait and to be seen for some contentment

spanglesj · 31/07/2023 19:31

Thanks @38andtrying home now. The doc checked cervix and wasn’t worried at all. She said it was likely ligament pain and to take it easier. It’s so hard being preggo with a toddler when your usual pair of helping hands is away!!

similar to you btw with the changes In movement day to day at 35 wks. Think they say by 38 for a regular pattern. Sometimes a long stint if kicks, more often tumbles and turns type feelings, and the odd knock!

Mldn · 31/07/2023 21:33

@Psqueak87 your break sounds fab! Hope you have a lovely time.

@Cegbee ah that’s good to hear! I defo want a week in the sunshine & the only week we can do is when I’m 31-32 weeks. Have a tiny niggle of doubt in the back of my mind that anything can happen from that point.. but we will only be going to Spain, so not too far & also good healthcare etc! Reassuring to hear others have gone away at this point. I’m low risk at the min. So hopefully stays that way at my next appointment & I’ll book the break 🤞🏼

JD90 · 01/08/2023 09:55

Going for a well deserved break is definitely worth it, I went away to France with my parents for a week when I was about 32 weeks with my first and as it turned out was the best thing I could have done for her and me as a week away helped her growth kick-start again after a period of restriction. I'm headed away next week with my partner and teenager and cannot wait for the break! No cooking, cleaning or the day to day life admin. I'm also meant to be going to a conference for 5 days at the end of September (as long as my consultant agrees) but its only on Scotland so should be fine.
Hope everyone is surviving the 'summer' so far :)

GreenAventurine · 02/08/2023 10:12

Just on my way back from having my bloods done again - my liver tests were raised last week.
Apart from that feeling really good! I do have a little nerve pinching in my hip/thigh/bum area. Has anyone else experienced this?

Psqueak87 · 02/08/2023 13:45

@GreenAventurine my partner has high liver enzymes, not sure what was high for you but he’s now drinking beetroot juice every morning (just a small amount) and I make it tastier by juicing it with lemon, orange, apple, ginger etc. no idea yet if it’s working but beetroot is very good for the liver!

GreenAventurine · 02/08/2023 16:16

I have obstetric cholestasis in pregnancy. Basically my liver stops working when I’m pregnant. Usually happens around 28 weeks but they’re already slightly raised (24+3) but I’m not too concerned as it’s being monitored. Will see how things go. I don’t think beetroot will have any effect with me however I do like it so I’ll give it a go anyway! 😂

PinkPlantCase · 03/08/2023 09:59

My work have said it’s too soon for them to commit to me being part time for a few months when I return to work 🙄🙄🙄 They said I can use my annual leave as I like but they won’t be able to make a decision about anything that changes my contracted hours until May next year. I’m planning to return in august.

Part of me thinks they just don’t want the admin headache of a temporary period of part time working.

I only had 6 months off with my first and went back full time as that was what our financial circumstances allowed for. I was really looking forward to doing some baby groups this time/having a bit more breathings space when baby sleep will probably still be all over the place.

I am now very grumpy 😂

medicmumma · 03/08/2023 20:56

How long are people planning to take off for maternity?

PinkPlantCase · 03/08/2023 21:44

medicmumma · 03/08/2023 20:56

How long are people planning to take off for maternity?

9 months. I only get SMP so will go back when it the money stops and I think I’ll be ready to start working by then too.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 03/08/2023 23:38

@medicmumma I intend on taking the full 52 weeks and using teacher’s shared parental leave to extend the amount of time I receive SMP by returning to work in the school holidays.
This is my last baby, I took 10 months off with my youngest daughter and it really flew by. I always said that I would take my full entitled time next time. Not 100% sure on how we’re set finance wise for me having the full year off, but we’ll make it work …

Mrsrobinsonx · 04/08/2023 09:03

I’m 25 weeks now and started having a few braxton hicks 🫣 I really can’t remand when I got these in my last pregnancy, has anyone else had them yet?

Mldn · 04/08/2023 09:15

@Mrsrobinsonx ive been getting braxton hicks for a good couple of weeks now. Probably since maybe 20 weeks but they’re more frequent now. I turned 27 weeks yesterday.

is anybody struggling with sleep? It’s so frustrating. I feel exhausted & I know it’s only gonna get worse, so I am feeling a little flat today! I realise there are bigger things to worry about & this is my main issue but I have hardly been getting any sleep at all over the last two weeks or so! I just have trouble staying asleep.

finally made it to third trimester & on the home stretch now, which is exciting!

TMI2000 · 04/08/2023 09:34

@Mldn I am struggling so much to sleep, waking up at 3am with aches all down my side even thought I am usually a side sleeper! Needing a toilet and then not being able to fall back asleep before I need to wake up before work, which is when I usually feel like I can fall asleep. Making work so much harder but I don't have long left which is good!

I've got a couple weeks but cannot wait to get in to my third trimester! It's so exciting!

Mldn · 04/08/2023 09:44

@TMI2000 ahh I feel very excited to be in the third trimester but I’ve defo felt low on energy the last few weeks, which is expected as you lose the second trimester energy burst! But wow, I’m feel so tired & low today. I don’t even wake up with any pain, so I’m lucky I guess. Just seriously struggling to stay asleep, mixed with multiple toilet trips in the night! Hoping I can get an afternoon nap in today to help with how rubbish I am feeling today. Hope you feel better & third trimester comes round before you know it!
