@Mummy1502 I had this in my first pregnancy- bleeding after sex. I was told that hormones in pregnancy can cause the cervix to be more sensitive. If you think that sex is basically your cervix getting hit repeatedly, it's understandable that it may bleed a bit.

Keep an eye on it and mention it to your midwife next time that you see her, but you've had a scan and all was well, so sex could well be the cause

Mummy1502 · 12/05/2023 08:51

@Pitstop1986 yea I rang epu this morning they said the same about the cervix and sex could absolutely be causing it, feel a bit better now x

GingerJanee · 12/05/2023 09:37

I have my appointment with EPU this afternoon, probably very naive but what can I expect from the appointment? DH is coming with me so I’ll have support but just wondering will it be bloods or a scan? Or just a chat?

Mummy1502 · 12/05/2023 09:55

@GingerJanee how are you? I think it’s normally just a scan if it’s been from bleeding x

DaisyMay25 · 12/05/2023 10:00

Just had my scan, won't upload a photo in case it's triggering!
Everything is perfect, measuring 7 weeks 2/3 days which is about right, saw the little heartbeat too so I've told my sisters.
Now back home to bed 😂

GingerJanee · 12/05/2023 10:06

@Mummy1502 I’m a complete mix of emotions to be honest, we had a lovely scan last week and I know anything can happen after it which isn’t very settling. I’m usually very calm and try my best to positive and I’ve told myself from the beginning I’ve no control over what happens so I can only hope everything’s going to be ok and do all I can to keep the baby healthy e.g. eating properly/exercising etc. So I feel completely unnerved that I can’t seem to tell myself that this week, the anxiety is completely draining me.

I’ve had little to no bleeding yesterday or today but the most awful back pain from Monday and weirdly if I roll over accidentally on my stomach or move slightly with putting pressure on it it’s painful. I wouldn’t say excruciating but it’s enough to feel like ow don’t do that too often.

I’m also conscious the bleeding has stopped and I’m attending an EPU appointment for bleeding and pain and the bleeding has stopped, I don’t want the midwives to think I’m a drama queen or worse I was lying about the blood. Sorry for the essay I think I’ve just word vomited a weeks worth of built up feelings! 🙈

Magicbean5 · 12/05/2023 10:15

@Justanothercyster thankyou! I'm trying to look through everyone's posts and catch up with how everyone is.
@DaisyMay25 that's brilliant, it feels so settling when you finally see your little baby, nothing beats it. Sending love ❤
@99SR I hope you have a better day today, there are alot of explanations as to why many women bleed but that doesn't stop the worry and feeling of anxiety. Just know you're not alone

Mummy1502 · 12/05/2023 11:15

@GingerJanee pregnancy is hard, especially the early weeks, I’m sure everything will be okay, we all need a rant I’m sure we’ve all been the same, let us know how you get on x

joyjoy23 · 12/05/2023 12:03

@Magicbean5 You are a really strong person! Congrats on baby number 5 and hope it all goes well from here.

@GingerJanee I've been there. It's so difficult to have so little control over things, some days I accept it and focus on the positive things I can do, other days are just completely draining. Stay strong x

@DaisyMay25 Congrats on seeing your little bean for the first time and glad everything is progressing ok. Had my first scan when I was 7+1/2 days too and it's funny how seeing something so tiny can already make you feel so emotional.

Rainbowdust557 · 12/05/2023 16:17

@GingerJanee I'm glad it's stopped but still a good idea to see EPU and get checked so don't feel bad about that. The pains could be from the relaxin making everything move and that can cause weird pains. The tummy one sounds a bit like round ligament pain. Sudden movements like turning over in bed, coughing and sneezing are all quite painful! The pain normally goes again quite quickly. Hope you're ok though and EPU can give you some reassurance. x

Rainbowdust557 · 12/05/2023 16:18

@DaisyMay25 great news! Glad it all went well. x

Charlielechat · 12/05/2023 16:26

@DaisyMay25 congratulations! That's great news! ☺️

Itonlytakesaminute · 12/05/2023 16:30

Hope everything has gone ok @GingerJanee x

Mummy1502 · 12/05/2023 16:46

@GingerJanee thinking of you x

99SR · 12/05/2023 17:18

@Magicbean5 no more blood or spotting thankfully but still got cramping/period like pains. Uuuuggghhh! The anxiety!

wannabemum38 · 12/05/2023 17:27

So I'm not happy at all with my epu. I spent all last night in hospital as had some cramps and spotting. Had some bloods taken and urine took and apparently I have a urine infection. They said I needed a scan at epu. However they can't fit me in until Tuesday so I am meant to spend all weekend fretting over whether my baby is OK. I booked a private scan at Window to the Womb for tonight and they have just called to cancel it as they have a policy of not having scans less than 1 week apart and they will have to refer me to epu anyway if there was a problem its a bloody joke I hate my epu anyway as had bad experience last time with my MC.of staff there I'm so upset I just want to know my baby is OK.

Mummy1502 · 12/05/2023 18:10

@wannabemum38 did they give you some antibiotics? X

wannabemum38 · 12/05/2023 18:12

@Mummy1502 Yeah they did 5 days of them. The staff in a&e were great. It's the epu lot I don't like.

Mummy1502 · 12/05/2023 18:31

@wannabemum38 try rest as much as you can, I know easier said than done and I know you will worry all weekend, how is your spotting in colour? I’m spotting again too, always a worry x

GingerJanee · 12/05/2023 19:11

EPU were so lovely and reassuring I seen a consultant and midwife and they done an internal scan. Baby measuring 7weeks 5days so very similar to the previous scan as in measuring earlier than I expected, thought I’d be 9 weeks so obviously very late implantation and a due date of 24th December 🎅 They gave me their number and told me to ring with any concerns and didn’t dismiss any of my concerns. They were really lovely and very reassuring that I was just right to get checked.

They did advise me to change my booking appointment and scan (which was booked for the 1st) but when I went out the reception the lady booking it said the next available date was when I’d be 14 weeks and trust policy is to scan at 11 weeks so she advised as I’ll be like 10+6 to come onto the scan and they’ll probably refer me back for a rescan 2 weeks later to confirm measurements.

wannabemum38 · 12/05/2023 19:24

@Mummy1502 yeah very hard. They just didn't seem to care at all. And with my recurrent mc history I just don't understand.
Cramps have died down now and it's mainly when i wipe it's a tiny bit of a pink tinge it comes and goes. In praying it's to do with the uti but I am not even convinced I have one I have zero symptoms when I had one last time I had pain when I peed and blood in my urine I just don't get it so stressful.

wannabemum38 · 12/05/2023 19:26

@GingerJanee glad you have a supportive network. Complete opposite to my EPU from sounds of it! Couldn't be more unhelpful and unsympathetic if they tried and not the first time.

smldnlove · 13/05/2023 08:24

Morning guys! Sorry been a bit quiet on here this week just trying to get through the nausea. Wedding also a few weeks away now, plus we’re trying to move house 🥲

I’ve got my booking in appointment this morning and the midwife called yesterday to say I’ve got thalassemia trait which is a trait that leads to severe anemia. OH having blood test today to see if he carries it too, hoping not as can be really problematic if baby is a carrier. I’m now a high risk pregnancy and a bit stressed about that to be honest! Will see how today goes.

how’s everyone else getting on?

@DaisyMay25 So pleased your scan went well! So reassuring to hear things are all going well and heard baby’s heartbeat! X

wannabemum38 · 13/05/2023 10:44

Think my EPU really screwed up yesterday I was meant to have the anti d injection as I'm rhesus negative and they didn't do it. Had them on phone this morning the consultant I dealt with in a&e has been on to them today so now I've got to go in for that tomorrow plus they are prescribing cyclogest aswell. All this should have been done yesterday. So annoyed.

Mushroo · 13/05/2023 11:14

@wannabemum38 thats awful! They sound absolutely terrible.

Is there another hospital you could change to?
