Omg. Just took me 15 mins to hang out my washing. Normally takes 5!! Anyone noticing already things are just taking longer? 😂😂

Yes and that I'm out of breath from doing stuff that wouldn't normally make me out of breath. Putting the big shop away the other day did me in!

I started with a small red mark on my face on Monday which was itching but thought it may have been heat rash, this morning my whole face is itching and the rash has spread across both of my cheeks, does anyone know if this is something I should be worried about?

Hmm I wonder whether it's worth nipping to the pharmacist to see what they think?

monsteramunch · 11/05/2023 09:22

I feel like almost all of us on the thread are having girls! Unless I'm just noticing those posts more because we are too?

katherine123x · 11/05/2023 09:24

@monsteramunch yes!! It's the breathlessness for me too!!
Didn't expect things to start getting difficult already 😂🙌🏼
But also happy it is 😂😂😂

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 11/05/2023 09:33

@monsteramunch I've ended up calling the gp as my face is now feeling really hot- it will probably end up being nothing but being pregnant I just want to be safe

cruciverbalista · 11/05/2023 09:53

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway Good idea, we had a parvo scare a few weeks back and I was glad I rang up. Better to be safe!

Summer022 · 11/05/2023 13:20

16 week midwife appointment tomorrow and then gender scan on Saturday! I’m so excited to find out if it’s a boy or girl 🥰 Does anyone know what happens at 16 week appointment? I’m guessing it’s just a well-being check up/urine sample etc?

katherine123x · 11/05/2023 13:30

@Summer022 hi !! I had a blood pressure check and urine sample. Midwife went through Normal list of things and spoke a lot about baby movements. I also need a anti d injection later on. She offered to do a blood test which can tell what blood type the baby is. She butchered my arms in 5 places and didn't get enough so I still have to have it 😂 ... I then got all of my appts up until baby is due!!

peonygirl · 11/05/2023 13:36

@Summer022 I find this Link useful for reminding me of what each appointment entails and when it is suppose to happen. Of course there will be variations between Trusts but this is an official guidance from NHS.

NSx · 11/05/2023 15:12

@peonygirl thanks for that link, really useful. I have my 16w midwife appt tomorrow so atleast I know what to expect now 🤍

Summer022 · 11/05/2023 16:34

@katherine123x @peonygirl ooh thanks ladies that’s really helpful!! Xx

Itsokaymama · 11/05/2023 17:53

Hey, does anyone know if this could be pregnancy related or worth getting checked out😬
a bruise appeared on friday, so nearly a week ago, and seems to have just grown since! I am taking aspirin daily. I really don’t remember knocking it but cant be sure?
anyone had anything similar?? Thank you all

peonygirl · 11/05/2023 18:11

@Itsokaymama l am also on aspirin. Low dosage aspirin side effects include bleeding and bruising easily. I'd suggest you speak to your GP or midwife, or call 111 for advice if worried. If it is getting bigger I'd speak to someone rather than wait. Do you have any other symptoms? A rash? fever? swelling? These are more serious side effect, possibly linked to aspirin allergies and need to be checked out asap.

Itsokaymama · 11/05/2023 18:56

@peonygirl
thank you for replying! I have no other symptoms luckily, at first i thought i must have knocked it without realising but i think id recall something that made so much of mark. I think i will call the gp tomorrow just to put my mind at rest. thanks again :-)

LaVitesse2022 · 11/05/2023 19:01

@Summer022 I also had urine sample, blood pressure checked and bloods taken to check if baby is rhesus negative. If not I'll need an anti-D injection after 28 weeks.

Midwife also explained the gestational diabetes exam to do between 26-28 weeks, the one where we have bloods taken fasted, drink the sugary drink, wait 2 hours and more bloods taken. I thought this was done only to people with risk factors but apparently most pregnant women do them. Has anyone got this exam booked in yet? Really not looking forward to that one...

doeandfawn · 11/05/2023 19:26

Has anyone dealt with migraines while pregnant and got any tips? Haven’t had one in years and since yesterday I’ve been in agony. Paracetamol takes the edge off for about 45 mins.

katherine123x · 11/05/2023 19:27

@LaVitesse2022 hi yep I have my appt for that with my low risk pregnancy too. I think you can opt in or out if you are low risk. I opted into everything pretty much! Not looking forward to it. Apparently it's vile 😂

SillyOldBear3 · 11/05/2023 19:28

@Itsokaymama I would definitely get this checked with the GP if you can't remember knocking it and it's getting bigger. It's probably nothing but given that you're more prone to blood clots during pregnancy it's better to be safe! I have DVT in my family so I'm extra aware of any leg pain etc!

PeopleAreToads · 11/05/2023 19:28

@Summer022 I had mine yesterday, and they just did urine and blood pressure checks and a few wellbeing questions. Gave me leaflets about antenatal classes and babies movements. Whole appointment was less than 15 minutes and that's with me having lots of questions about my low PAPP-A

I'm also having a girl, does seem to be a lot having girls on this thread!

Itsokaymama · 11/05/2023 19:33

@SillyOldBear3 thank you, I've set a remind to call first thing!

pangolin84 · 11/05/2023 19:48

I thought they only do the glucose tolerance test if you have risk factors e.g. family history of diabetes/age/BMI. And if they detect glucose in your urine. I’ve not been offered it (yet…). May be yet another Trust-dependent thing.
And for purposes of balance, I’m having a boy!

LaVitesse2022 · 11/05/2023 20:13

@pangolin84 that's what I thought too!

@katherine123x I'm tempted to skip it... It's supposed to be horrible and I don't know how I'm supposed to handle functioning with an empty stomach, never mind still having to wait another 2 hours! Been having this aggressive hunger all through pregnancy that can turn into nausea very quickly :/

peonygirl · 11/05/2023 21:00

@LaVitesse2022 I have the glucose test booked for week 25. Midwife already told me it is vile so I am getting ready, I hope they will give me a bed in between the wait time. I was booked because of my age and I worry about nausea if I am too hungry. You cannot eat anything for 12 hours.

@doeandfawn I have pretty much all symptoms on a list so have migraine type of headache for the past three days. It is tolerable so I haven't taken paracetamol yet because I am also on low level aspirin and want to avoid too much medication. I try to drink as much as I can tolerate and hope it will help.

Saturnsmoon · 11/05/2023 21:20

I had an early glucose test at 16 weeks due to being high risk because of family history. Not going to lie, it was pretty grim and I felt quite nauseous with it. I was worried about vomiting as then they make you come in again but I managed to keep it down and was all clear in the end. My main tip is taking something to distract/entertain you as there was a lot of sitting around on uncomfortable hospital chairs for me. Also taking something with you to eat straight after the second blood test as by that point I was really hangry 😂. There was quite a few women who had brought kids with them (I’m sure they had no other choice) but would try and avoid that if possible. I will have to have another one around 28 weeks and will probably take my husband along then as I felt a bit sorry for myself, feeling quite ill and sitting by myself for two hours.

Chanteuse · 11/05/2023 21:28

I also have to have the glucose test- no date for it yet. Not looking forward to it to be honest 🥴
