@NSx that's so sad I'm so sorry to hear that. It's everyone's worst nightmare to get news like that. I don't doubt the accuracy I think I would just prefer if it was a yes or no to get an amniocentesis rather than its a 1 in whatever chance. Statistics don't seem that reassuring when you feel like you could be that 1. I think here they offer for anyone to get amniocentesis if they have any concerns but I didn't have any private testing done so I'm just hoping everything is okay.

NSx · 06/05/2023 10:15

@JoanneV yea the amnio pretty much told me yes. So confirmed what we already suspected. The problem with the amnio is that they warn you there can be a 1 in 200 chance of miscarriage however in my case I didn’t miscarry and I know q couple of other people who have had an amnio and been absolutely fine so I think it’s extremely safe. However again you’re going back to that 1 in whatever statistic. Everything is a statistic and statistics scare me now as they say 1 in 5000 babies have pataus, my baby was that statistic so it's tough. I chose to have a NIPT this time as there was no reason to think anything is wrong & everything came back as low risk, plus I didn't want to put my baby at risk for no reason. I think if anything transpired I would do an amnio again.

Gender scan for us tomorrow at 9am. how the hell am I going to sleep tonight? 😂

peonygirl · 06/05/2023 18:34

@katherine123x I am excited for you! Have your symptoms eased? Mine are up and down - an hour ago I felt really sick, then hungry and just had dinner, now I am hungry again :) I also have slight headache today and am super tired. Never ending challenges with the little ones.

katherine123x · 06/05/2023 18:44

@peonygirl I'm exactly what you just described. Still sick most mornings - though it's not even sick, it's phlegm. Had a two hour sleep this afternoon...... it's up and down for sure. Mainly more down 😂 BUT WORTH IT!

NSx · 06/05/2023 18:46

@katherine123x this is so exciting - have you got an idea what you think they are ? I can’t remember if I’ve had a guess at your scan yet ? 😂😂🤍

I’m 15+3 and patiently waiting for my bump to appear 😂 I just look chubby at the minute …

katherine123x · 06/05/2023 18:51

@NSx I have had a feeling it's a boy the whole time!!! So we will see!
I was like that .. really bumped the last few days .. now 16+3 and feeling more pregnant than fat 😂

NSx · 06/05/2023 18:54

@katherine123x please keep us posted tomorrow - I wonder if your intuition is correct!

oh there’s hope for me yet 😅🤍 I’m hoping I become more pregnant and less chubby looking in the next week or 2, 😂😅 🤞…

have you been using any creams for your bump? (For stretch marks)

katherine123x · 06/05/2023 19:16

@NSx of course I will do!!
Yes I've been using bio oil .. I've always loved it so thought I'd use it. Not really sure if it'll do anything! But I love the smell and it makes my bump so soft 😂

peonygirl · 06/05/2023 19:30

It is so funny we have exactly the same symptoms. I really wonder if we are carrying the babies of the same sex. It would be interesting to know. In the meantime we can support each other. My day to day life is totally different than before, way more slow and lazy, but if that's what my body needs, that's what it gets.

@NSx I am also not showing much yet. I am a bit bulkier than you because I am bigger anyway but I feel there's not much of a bum yet. My midwife just smiled when I complained saying I will be fed up of the bum soon enough :) At least we can still pick things off the floor hahaha.

katherine123x · 06/05/2023 19:32

@peonygirl absolutely!! ... I just remind myself that's what I need .. even if it's not what I want. I didn't want to sleep two hours today but I HAD to!! I can't fight it and don't like to!

However, I really need to clean the kitchen 😂

peonygirl · 06/05/2023 19:33

I mean a bump, a bump...not a bum :D oh yeah, my brain is also not what it was. How will I write that paper I need to deliver at the conference next month I have no idea. If I mix up words there....it could be highly embarrassing. 😂

NSx · 06/05/2023 20:07

@katherine123x ah fab I think bio oil is nice, I’ve used it before. I’m using the palmers stuff for stretch marks but tbh I think I’m going to just use a tub of coconut oil I have. I’ve seen people use it with good results. I think as long as you keep the skin supple and moist you’re fine. I saw a girl on Instagram who has one of the palmers cocoa butter sticks and she literally takes it out with her and puts it on her bump in the car - she has not 1 stretch mark!
@peonygirl 😂😂😂 I knew what you meant! See to be honest I don’t want a huge bump I just want it to be a bit round, so it looks like a bump and not just a bit of bloat you know? 😂😂

PrimarilyParented · 07/05/2023 07:17

@ttcttc i’ve just been catching up on the thread and seen your post about itching. I know the advice is if it’s hands and feet, but have you contacted your midwife? I’m sure they would have seen it before and have advice but I would also think it’s worth getting checked out as may be related in some way to itchy hands/feet and whatever causes that.

Chanteuse · 07/05/2023 08:11

Girls, there’s a due Jan 2024 thread! How crazy is it that we’ve been pregnant for this long?! 🤣

VictoriaBlossom · 07/05/2023 08:53

@Chanteuse that makes me feel like I've been pregnant for ages. 2024!

ali2021 · 07/05/2023 09:04

Have been very unsure whether to post as I'm nervous of the answer. Following on from my previous post where i was devastated in my scan to think ive seen the gender, could there be any chance that this is the cord I'm seeing? It's a cross section of the scan, hence why it appears as though baby has a hole in its head 🤣 But I'm hoping that this could also be the reason I can't see the rest of the cord?? @Alexandra07 @NSx, I didn't say anything as I didn't want to draw my DH attention to it if he hadn't seen it already!

NSx · 07/05/2023 09:12

@ali2021 I see what you’re seeing 😫😂😂😂😂
I could be wrong but I don’t know, it seems quite clear 😂 the cord is further up is it not? 👀

Alexandra07 · 07/05/2023 09:30

@ali2021 i can't really tell, but I understand why you may think it's a boy. From what I read it's easier to tell the gender with a 2d scan rather than a 3d, there must be a reason or it would be too obvious. Girls bits are very swollen at that point. I attached a picture of a 3d scan of someone else I found online. You would think it's a boy and what you see can't be the umbilical cord, that's what the mum thought, but it was actually a girl! I suggest to ignore the scan, you would really need to see between the legs to tell the gender.

katherine123x · 07/05/2023 09:34

It's a boy!

SillyOldBear3 · 07/05/2023 09:40

@ali2021 I definitely think it could be a cord.. I really don't think you should read to much into it! I think you would need a 'between the legs' shot to be able to tell.

ali2021 · 07/05/2023 10:01

Thanks everyone. I can't explain how disappointed I was to have potentially found out like that. Just to clarify, I will be delighted whether boy or girl, but I was disappointed as we had emphasised to our consultant that we didn't want to know before birth. I'm hoping that as he is a consultant and so highly skilled that he wouldn't have lingered on that shot for so long if he thought he was giving the game away! Will take your advice and try not to think any more of it!

SillyOldBear3 · 07/05/2023 10:24

@ali2021 yes I don't think he would have lingered. I think it looks too 'pronounced' (😂) to be anything other than a cord! I reckon you definitely still have your suprise to look forward to ❣️

ali2021 · 07/05/2023 10:47

@SillyOldBear3 thank you, that makes me feel much better! I would agree, considering I was only 16w at the scan! 🥰

It's not my hands and feet. I've bought some mama mio and it's definitely better. I'm going to mention it to her next week. It's to do with bile levels I think so she may check them 🤷‍♀️. It's also common to itch just to stretching and chemicals in hormones rising. Honestly it's a minefield 😂
