@peonygirl if it provides any reassurance, your figures are better than mine. Mine were 1 in 20,000 and I was actually really reassured when I got them and have only just started doubting myself since I read others so I've decided to just focus on the fact its classed as low risk. I do think it's best to just focus on what the medical professionals say as so many individual factors can contribute. Hope that helps a bit.

ForeverAndEvers · 05/05/2023 17:09

Sorry @peonygirl, just realised my message was meant for @ttcttc! But glad both results were good.

NSx · 05/05/2023 17:15

@doeandfawn nope on badger notes it says ‘not published’ 😂😂😂🤣

I got to hear the heartbeat today too @Smiffette it was really special 😊 kept going FLOOP as the baby flipped around!

@ttcttc I think it might just be different trusts running algorithms differently, or maybe its by age? Mine was also one in 50,000 which I'm frankly pleased with. I'm 32.

I'm 31.

I know it's so huge but I was just a bit like.. why are people's chances so different. Iyswim

Chanteuse · 05/05/2023 17:28

I still haven’t had my downs results back but I’m just hoping that no news is good news!

Seen your later post that this was meant for me.

I know what you mean. 20,000 and 50,000 are both still huge aren't they. It's just strange to see other people's so different. Obviously nothing has been highlighted so I'm happy enough that way.

My Dsyn was 1 in 8157 which is good too but I thought that would have been different. Think I read too much on the internet tbh

I'd say it is. @NSx chased hers and was told in her area they only get in touch with "bad" news so it's maybe the same for you x

ttcttc · 05/05/2023 17:31

doeandfawn · 05/05/2023 16:26

Did your screening numbers not get put on Badger? I didn’t get contacted but mine were there in the bloods screen after about 3 working days.

Think it depends on trusts. Mine haven't gone on either. I spoke to a friend who's had her baby and she checked her, they hadn't been put on still and her baby was born in feb!

Chanteuse · 05/05/2023 17:34

@ttcttc I think so too - I overheard the phlebotomist telling the lady before me that they call within a few days if there’s an issue, and a letter within 2 weeks if not! I’ve only got a couple of weeks now anyway until my 20wk scan 💕

peonygirl · 05/05/2023 18:05

doeandfawn · 05/05/2023 16:25

@peonygirl mine isn’t until 13th of June! We can wait impatiently together haha. I’m considering paying for a 16w scan just to get it out the way.

We should be support buddies :) I think we have DD one day apart no? it will be a long journey and I need to keep reminding myself it is a miracle I am pregnant at all. So all this debilitating nausea, restrictive lifestyle, crazy symptoms and food cravings, it will all be worth it in the end.

I am also considering 16w scan, haven't decided yet if it is not better to spend money on a crib. I will decide closer to the date and see how I feel, I need to travel to the neighbouring city and currently I am still not happy to travel far.

cruciverbalista · 05/05/2023 18:09

@Chanteuse The system is still neglecting you! What a shambles 😫

ali2021 · 05/05/2023 18:20

@Smiffette , so delighted to hear all is well and good. Nobody needs a shock like that during pregnancy; so sorry it happened.

Ladies, I'm absolutely gutted. I went for a 17w scan this morning. I said to our consultant at the beginning that we didn't want to know the gender; he reassured us that he would never give the game away and that he would have to go digging to find it out.
Baby wasn't cooperating and was jumping all about the screen, meaning he couldn't get clear images/measurements. He switched to 4d and I am almost positive it was blazingly obvious we are having a boy. What's worse is that all the videos/images are automatically sent to us via an app, and I was really upset to see the video is there, plain as day.
I dont mind what the gender is; I'm just really disappointed to have potentially found out in this way. My only hope im clinging to is that i saw the placenta, although I am fairly certain when i look back at it. I can't tell my husband as I don't want to ruin that surprise for him if he didn't see it already!
Has this ever happened to anybody in a similar position? As a consultant who promised he wouldn't reveal, surely if the genitalia was clearly on show, he'd have swifly moved it away from that area? Clinging on to any hope here it could still be a surprise!

Summer022 · 05/05/2023 18:26

Hi ladies, hope you’re all ok. I’m not sure what to do, but the last couple of days I have been having the urge to wee constantly every half an hour or so without even drinking a huge amount. I am worried it might be a UTI because the GP surgery is closed for the bank holiday. I have my 16 week midwife appointment next Friday where this will be checked anyway, but I don’t know if I should be leaving it that long. Or whether I should just keep hydrated and hope that might flush it out if it’s just starting. It doesn’t seem like something A&E would take particularly seriously. Has anyone had anything similar?

NSx · 05/05/2023 18:31

@Summer022 Do not leave it. I work in a doctors surgery. My advice would be to phone NHS24 on 111 and they could get a doctor to decide if you need an antibiotic. 💖

NSx · 05/05/2023 18:32

@Chanteuse I haven’t had my results back, however I did have an NIPT which came back clear so to be fair I’m expecting low results anyways but like @ttcttc said, I was told you would receive a call within days if anything came up, so I think you’re fine 💖

monsteramunch · 05/05/2023 18:34

Definitely call 111 to be on the safe side @Summer022 and they can help Flowers

Chanteuse · 05/05/2023 18:34

@cruciverbalista I’m actually feeling much better about everything now as I’ve just decided to go with the flow 🤣
@NSx I’m deffo team no news is good news! There’s been 6 working days since my bloods were done so I think if there was an issue I’d have heard something 💕

Mldn · 05/05/2023 18:34

I had a UTI over Easter bank hol - I only knew cos my 10 week booking appointment showed bacteria in my urine. Other than that I wouldn’t have known. I did call call the GP after bank hol as started getting similar symptoms to you @Summer022 - they gave me a weeks course of pregnancy safe antibiotics. After the week I did another sample, symptoms had gone but bacteria was still higher than should be. However, the GP said she wouldn’t prescribe more antibiotics unless the symptoms got bad again! Hopefully you’ll be okay over the week, hydrate & try flush it out & then call your GP Tuesday x

Mldn · 05/05/2023 18:36

… I just saw everyone else recommending you don’t leave it! Maybe ignore my advice & call 111. Just letting you know my similar experience. Hoping you’re okay @Summer022 x

ForeverAndEvers · 05/05/2023 18:57

@ttcttc so hard to not get caught up reading things online but I'm actively forcing myself not to and just focusing on the low risk part.

@ali2021 I'm so sorry. Something similar (slightly different circumstances) happened with my first. We didn't ever ask to clarify and carried on as if we didn't know but if I'm really honest I'd have been very surprised if he'd been a girl. All I can say is that meeting him for the first time was still extra special and we still enjoyed choosing names for both options just in case. Sorry you didn't find out as you'd have liked to. This time we plan to find out to prevent the same situation.

@Summer022 I'd agree with others that it's a good idea to get it checked out. Hope you feel better soon.

Alexandra07 · 05/05/2023 19:05

@ali2021 it must be so frustrating, especially since you can't share it with your husband. Could it be the umbilical cord what you saw?

@Summer022 I would call 111 just in case.

JoanneV · 05/05/2023 20:22

Do they do those edwards and downs tests on NHS? I'm in Ireland and we don't get them here at all. Tbh i don't think I'd want to know unless it was a certainty. I'd be the person worrying if it was any figure except impossible.

Summer022 · 05/05/2023 20:24

Hi all, thank you so much for the advice. I have phoned 111 who have advised that I just wait til Tuesday and have put me on a call back list for the GP. I still feel worried as leaving it really doesn’t feel like a good idea, but she told me that it’s a non urgent appointment only as the symptoms aren’t bad enough despite me being pregnant. Still feel worried though 😣 xx

NSx · 05/05/2023 20:32

@Summer022 if your symptoms worsen then just call back. I would hate to think you’re suffering a UTI until Tuesday - those things are nasty …
I had a similar situation as someone who posted earlier where I had no symptoms and only found out I had an infection after a swab was taken, but the hospital gave me antibiotics straight away, I guess it may depend on what they find up there.
Anyways I wouldn’t take what they said as diagnostic and like mentioned before, don’t suffer in silence 💕 make sure you drink plenty of fluids.

@ali2021 I’m so sorry you found out this way (If you actually saw what you saw) is there anyway you could be wrong, did u ask the sonographer if they saw anything ?

@JoanneV yes they check for pataus and edwards here in the UK.
The screening process isn’t diagnostic however I do think it’s pretty accurate. I had a baby last year that had pataus sadly- this was picked up on the screening bloods/scan. Was later confirmed by amniocentesis and then after birth at post mortem. So in my experience it’s pretty reliable 😫

katherine123x · 05/05/2023 21:29

@Summer022 sorry to read this!!
It must be unsettling for you. Just try and keep hydrated, water water water!! Like said earlier see if you can flush it out!! Cranberry juice always helps me too!! Try to got go too often too... I always find that never helps! (But I'm far from a professional, just what has worked for me)
It's bad they won't do anything, being pregnant should bump you right up!
Hope it clears up for you!! 💕
