@LWestYorks last week I had a horrible headache for 4 days straight, wasn't a full blown migraine, but it was such hard work with a toddler!

I had my MW 16 week appointment today, she tried to find the heartbeat but couldn't, she said baby is really low down and with my placenta at the front it's tricky. So she has booked me in to try again tomorrow morning. trying to stay calm and not overthink it, especially as she wasn't concerned and what she was saying was perfectly reasonable

Definitely focus on the fact she was calm about it - I bet it's just a routine thing for them that they've seen a million times even if for us it feels so horribly stressful at the time! Will be thinking of you tomorrow, let us know how you get on Flowers

Saturnsmoon · 04/05/2023 23:43

@monsteramunch congratulations, how exciting💕do you have girls names in mind (we haven’t even broached the topic of names yet).

That’s has actually made me wonder about mine, I’m pretty convinced I’m having a boy but the skull shape etc on my scan photo is very similar to yours. Just another 22ish weeks to wait until we find out 😂

I’m 18 weeks tomorrow and still haven’t felt any movement, well thought I did last week but in hindsight think it must have been something else as haven’t felt anything since. I have an anterior placenta so know I shouldn’t worry but would really like to feel baby for some reassurance.

Phoenixwings1989 · 05/05/2023 01:27

@Chanteuse I bought my moses basket from George Asda too for my first. I remember thinking she'd sleep so well in it. Nope. I was wrong. She was fine for up until two weeks then she refused to go in it, she'd bawl her eyes out so she ended up contact napping on me. I was awake every time though and luckily she slept really well in her crib. When I raised the issue with midwife's they said it wasn't unusual for babies not to like their moses baskets which really surprised me. I looked after my two siblings when I was sixteen and remember them sleeping peacefully throughout.

@Smiffette I had my 16 week appointment on Tuesday and midwife said she wasn't going to attempt finding babies heartbeat as it was too early and the likelihood of finding it would be nay to impossible. She said she'd try at 24 weeks. I know it's a worry when they can't find it but I hope all goes well tomorrow. 🙂

@monsteramunch congrats on your baby girl!

Alexandra07 · 05/05/2023 06:18

@monsteramunch congratulations!

Chanteuse · 05/05/2023 07:23

@Phoenixwings1989 I’ve heard loads of babies don’t like their Moses baskets, that’s why I didn’t want to spend a fortune! If baby doesn’t like it well, that’s okay cause it wasn’t expensive 😌

VanillaOat · 05/05/2023 07:39

@monsteramunch yay girl club!! Congratulations 💕

@LWestYorks I was having horrendous headaches up until last week. Mentioned it to my midwife at my 16 week appt and she wasn’t too concerned at this point, just said the usually about drinking water. I have slightly low blood pressure so not sure if that’s related!

@Smiffette they didn’t even check for heartbeat at my 16 week but I’d had a scan the day before so I wasn’t too concerned. Like @Phoenixwings1989 said, the chance of finding one is low so I wouldn’t stress too much💕

@Chanteuse that’s so reasonable! does the Moses basket come with a stand??

OrionNebula · 05/05/2023 09:00

@monsteramunch another girl, congrats!

AlongcameLainey · 05/05/2023 09:30

@NSx yes it is strange but I’ve had nothing but problems with my GP since coming out of lockdown so looking to change now.

@monsteramunch congratulations! Joining team pink! 💖

I wonder how many of us are having girls compared to boys?!

LaVitesse2022 · 05/05/2023 09:41

@monsteramunch congratulations! 😊 Do you have a name picked out? I'm dying to find out but still have 3 weeks to wait till my 20 week scan.

doeandfawn · 05/05/2023 10:27

@monsteramunch big congrats on girl!

Did anyone have any really strong feelings about the sex before getting it confirmed? Were you right?

monsteramunch · 05/05/2023 10:44

Ah thank you everyone for your congrats about our little girl - still absolutely buzzing!

We both said we 'knew' it was a girl the whole time, but it was always a 50/50 chance so I think it's more confirmation bias than anything.

We've had a girls name at the ready since before we conceived so it's lovely we'll get to use it. Especially as we haven't found a single boy's name we like enough, so that's a relief!

She was super active and wriggling about all over the place. I thought a couple of nights ago I felt my first flutter / bubbly / tummy turn sort of feelings, but I'm only 16+4 so may well have just been a coincidence.

I finally got my combined screening tests back and they are 1:6000 for Down's and 1:100000 for Patau's and Edward's. I am relieved.

If anyone is still waiting for the letters - I was given a phone number to call and get the results because letters are massively delayed. I was told today they are aware of this and we should always call if we have any doubts and worries, it's not worth waiting for the letter. It will eventually come but don't stress yourself, call your Antenatal clinic.

I feel so far behind the majority of you - my 20w scan is only in mid-June. I am also keen on learning if it is a girl or a boy. I had a very strong feeling it was a girl but then I saw the image on the 16w scan and felt very strongly it was a boy. So now I am in the no man's land :)

EMcG3 · 05/05/2023 13:04

@doeandfawn - yes, and I was wrong! Thought girl, is boy.

I've seen a few people who have 1 in 100,000 for P+E and mine was 50,000. I know it's still good odds but I'm conscious my chances are double what is seen as "the norm"

katherine123x · 05/05/2023 13:19

@monsteramunch it's very possible you felt it! Anytime from 16 weeks you can feel them! Very normal to go a few days with nothing. But I'm convinced I've felt mine!

peonygirl · 05/05/2023 13:19

@ttcttc NHS webpage says anything that is over 150 is good. They call you very quickly if there's any concern, so I don't think you should worry. They would offer further testing if there would be a higher risk.

Smiffette · 05/05/2023 14:44

Had my appointment this morning and heard the heartbeat, she found it very quickly this time! The full bladder must have helped!

NSx · 05/05/2023 15:08

@Smiffette 💖💖 great news so happy for you.
I had a private scan at 11+3 and we heard the heartbeat - so I reckon it just depends ❣️

@peonygirl I called my antenatal clinic and was told to wait until my 16w appt 😂 and that if I hadn’t heard by now it’s all good. I’ve had NIPT anyways so it’s fine, but I was curious to know my numbers

No I'm just wondering why mines only 50 🤔 xx

cruciverbalista · 05/05/2023 15:38

I got to hear the heartbeat today too @Smiffette it was really special 😊 kept going FLOOP as the baby flipped around!

@ttcttc I think it might just be different trusts running algorithms differently, or maybe its by age? Mine was also one in 50,000 which I'm frankly pleased with. I'm 32.

doeandfawn · 05/05/2023 16:25

@peonygirl mine isn’t until 13th of June! We can wait impatiently together haha. I’m considering paying for a 16w scan just to get it out the way.

doeandfawn · 05/05/2023 16:26

Did your screening numbers not get put on Badger? I didn’t get contacted but mine were there in the bloods screen after about 3 working days.

Chanteuse · 05/05/2023 17:01

@VanillaOat yes it comes with everything! Absolutely great for the price! It comes tomorrow so I’ll report back with a review then 😌
