I can see one for this so in my excitement thought I’d start one. Due date is 1st Jan for me 😊

I’m 37 and pregnant with no. 2. We tried for 4 months so lucky not too long.

@buckingmad amazing I just picked up some before I saw your message! Going to chill out and try to spread them out now.

@Mushroo I’ve booked one for 7+6. If you can afford the NIPT then go for it but if you’re not high risk then I guess not necessary but for reassurance, makes sense!

I’m actually higher risk for thalassemia as my partner and I are both carriers for different types so I wonder if that’ll affect anything when I speak to midwife regarding testing etc. Been waiting to hear back from the genetic counselling place since before TTC!

Matildahoney · 02/05/2023 17:15

I'm not testing again, because even after my MC for 3 weeks I tested positive, so for me that's not reassuring. Same with an early scan, only relevant at the time, my MC was 12 weeks, so just going to try to relax & enjoy it

Mushroo · 02/05/2023 17:18

@buckingmad @sashastuck thank you. I might see what my midwife things as well. Can’t decide if I’m paying Ā£500 for not much, or peace of mind!

Honestly can’t wait until I hit 12 weeks, the secrecy and worry of this phase is killing me

ThomasinaLivesHere · 02/05/2023 17:37

@Mushroo I’m 37 so getting to be a higher risk for issues so I’m thinking of NIPT but I might wait to see how result on NHS turn out. So a bit undecided. One bonus is we’re going to find out the sex so that’s something else you get from it though obviously not the main reason.

@Mushroo I don't know much about the NIPT, like you I'll probably ask the midwife.

We've also been sent some info to look at before the first appointment, apparently we have to decide what tests we want at the 20 week point. Has anyone had that as well?

TrudyProud · 02/05/2023 17:50

@sashastuck with DD I only did 2 tests (one FRER on day AF was due and one CB digital the following week) however I had private scans at 7W (early scan), 10W (ran a half marathon and someone on MN said that heavy exercise causes MC - I was so stressed I booked it a few days after my run) and 17W (gender scan to make me feel happy- at my 16week MW appointment she couldn't hear a heartbeat. Took 40mins and in the end a consultant came in to do it. The MW was inexperienced and my DD had a strong HB but that was the 1st appointment I did without DH and I was shaken).

Mushroo · 02/05/2023 17:57

@ThomasinaLivesHere yes finding out the sex is a very nice bonus, I wasn’t expecting you could find out so early.

@Bims2019 thats so good - nice to have received some stuff to look at. No advice on the 20 week tests as I’ve not had anything through yet, but I suspect I’ll opt for everything as I’m a planner unless there’s an obvious risk in doing so.

Booklover88 · 02/05/2023 19:11

@sashastuck totally understand the anxiety, it’s so difficult and feels like such a long wait! We get a NHS early scan next week because we’ve had assisted conception. I think infertility has actually helped with my anxiety. Not carrying around the anxiety and sadness of infertility has made early pregnancy anxiety feel more manageable. I also think that if something were to go wrong, I can’t do anything to prevent it. Doing pregnancy tests all the time, Googling every symptom etc would personally make me feel worse (however I absolutely do not judge anyone who does that and my heart really does go out to anyone who has suffered losses. You’re absolute warriors). There will always be something on the internet which will make you feel worse about whatever you’re feeling and I find the more you seek reassurance from external sources, the less likely you are to find it. So for me, limiting time on my phone, distracting myself with trashy telly and going on walks are all helping keep my anxiety at bay. Like I say, that’s just my experience but hope some of that is useful to you x

sashastuck · 02/05/2023 19:49

@TrudyProud Gosh that 40 minutes must have been awful! Sorry you experienced that but I’m glad it worked out in the end ā¤you ran a half marathon pregnant, you must be superwoman!!

@Booklover88 thank you thank you thank you ā¤from tomorrow on I’ve vowed to chill with the googling and enjoy the excitement. We are pregnant! The trash tv and walk is EXACTLY how I’ve spent my evening!

Sorry for your loss @Matildahoney šŸ’what you’re saying makes sense. It’s all temporary reassurance really.

RG9895 · 02/05/2023 23:02

Hey, hope its ok to join the thread! I am presuming I am due in Jan. Got clear blue digital 1-2 today but can't properly track as my cycles are all over the place! Congratulations to you all! ā˜ŗļø

PumpkinTruffles · 02/05/2023 23:10

Hiya! Can I join too...? I had a positive FRER this morning. I'm still in shock as I had a miscarriage on 31st March at 6 weeks, so this was my first cycle since. I've been tracking ovulation but I didn't hold out much hope. I'm really hoping this one sticks šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ¤žšŸ»

tulipsunday · 03/05/2023 07:28

Had the waking up at 5 thing this morning that I see a couple of you have had 🄱 going to need some claw back some energy as have my energetic 3 year old all day today šŸ˜‚

RG9895 · 03/05/2023 07:41

Anyone else struggling with the secrecy of it all? We have only known for 4 days and its so hard not to say anything to anyone!

tulipsunday · 03/05/2023 07:52

@RG9895 i'm more the opposite! Enjoying just us knowing but go on holiday in two weeks with all of my husband's family and it is going to be so obvious when I am not drinking or going in the hot tub so will probs end up telling them šŸ˜‚

RG9895 · 03/05/2023 08:00

@tulipsunday ah amazing! Where are you going? I'm going away with my sister in a week for a girls drinking holiday so I'm gonna have to tell her as defo cant hide that šŸ˜‚

tulipsunday · 03/05/2023 08:06

Haha yes that would be tricky @RG9895 where are you off to? We are just heading down to Cornwall. Quite a few people and dogs and young kids so perhaps not the most relaxing of holidays but will be nice to have a change of scene!

lucya66 · 03/05/2023 08:09

Woke up again at 4:45am this morning! What is it with these 5am ish wakes haha? I find it easy to get back to sleep after a quick wee though.

has anyone else been more brain foggy than normal? Not sure if this is related but feel my brain is being slow. I called a bag of clothes a bag of fruit the other day….. lol

Mushroo · 03/05/2023 08:50

@RG9895 I also hate the secrecy, can’t wait until I can tell people! The pretending to drink but not drinking makes every social event feel like an undercover operation.

I got my 3+ today on a clearblue! I’m so glad I’m ā€˜on track’ so stopping testing now. Symptoms are well and truly back. I’m so exhausted, went to bed last night at 9:30pm and slept for 9 hours. Still shattered this morning!

Bims2019 · 03/05/2023 08:50

I could not get to sleep last night! Loving this insomnia šŸ˜‚ @lucya66 yes I've definitely been a bit brain foggier than normal, keep doing things like trying to put milk back in the cupboard rather than the fridge. It bodes well for the next few months lol.

@RG9895 yeah I'm struggling a bit with the secrecy. A couple of close friends know but we haven't told parents yet, really want to but it just feels too soon!

RG9895 · 03/05/2023 08:57

@tulipsunday ahh that will be lovely! Im going to Corfu! Would be very hard to hide I did think about pulling the cant drink on antibiotics but dont think il get away with it šŸ˜‚

@Mushroo it defo does! Im gonna try avoid drinking events for the next 2 months haha & congrats on ur 3+! My lines are getting so dark now so hoping next week I might get mine!

@Bims2019 completely agree! My husband and I have agreed we can tell our best friends and thats it for now haha but waiting to see them in person next week

buckingmad · 03/05/2023 09:05

I was lucky with my last pregnancy that it was lockdown so could hide quite easily!

Did another cheapy this morning and line is definitely getting darker. Going to do a clear blue weeks test tomorrow and hopefully get my 2-3 weeks.

sashastuck · 03/05/2023 11:16

@lucya66 I’m definitely brain foggy too! Keep mixing up my words, I’ll say it correct in my head but the wrong thing comes out!

Amazing about your line @buckingmad! I took a Boots one this morning and I’d say it was medium darkness at 16dpo so will probably take one again on Friday.

congratulations @PumpkinTruffles and @RG9895 Xx

FingersCrossedXXX · 03/05/2023 11:26

Congratulations to all the newbies ā¤ļø

My husband has told his best friend and I have told my mom and dad. I wasn't going too but I had a wobble yesterday as I've been getting some brown spotting and I'm worried about an ectopic pregnancy again so just wanted to tell them. I called EPU and they have moved my early scan forward to Friday. I'm going to be so nervous on the day!

TrudyProud · 03/05/2023 11:33

@sashastuck pre DD I was very active so honestly felt like normal. Because I had no bloat you couldn't tell I was pregnant.

This time around... not so much

Wanderlust86 · 03/05/2023 12:27

@RG9895 I'm going to Corfu next week too. Bit gutted I can't have wine in the sunshine though.

@Fingerscrossedxxx Good luck for your scan on Friday. I can't wait to have a scan to put my mind at ease and make it feel real.

Congratulations to everyone that has joined!

I know very little about this NIPT testing. So this isn't something that the NHS offer?
