I can see one for this so in my excitement thought I’d start one. Due date is 1st Jan for me 😊

I’m 37 and pregnant with no. 2. We tried for 4 months so lucky not too long.

Congratulations to all the recent BFP over the past few days.

@buckingmad I have an appointment with my gp today so I'm assuming they will put my referral through today. Exciting 🄰 I'm 5 +2

ThomasinaLivesHere · 02/05/2023 07:32

@buckingmad I’ve booked my midwife appointment - it’s for end of May. I think they book appointments based on your last period so even if you phone later they should still fit you in for those timeframes but I guess it also depends on the demand on your area. Sorry you’re feeling anxious.

@Vikki7 That’s interesting about the egg yolk never heard that before. I’ve been teasing my husband that we’re going to have twins. It would be a mad house as we already have a toddler. I do like the idea of twins but the reality would be so much hard work. I have read that if you’re breastfeeding when you conceive that your chances of twins increases and also by age which applies to me but I’ve not had double egg yolks yet šŸ˜‚

With DD I self referred the week after AF was due so effectively 5 weeks I guess. Had my booking appointment at 10 weeks and scan at 12.5 weeks.

This time I'll likely do the same. One thing o can't decide on is an early pregnancy scan. With DD I threw so much money at them to calm me down. This time I have a BF toddler, just finished a house renovation so not sure I should spend that money at c.Ā£75 a pop

On another note.... pregnancy insomnia with a child who thinks a solid nights sleep is for the weak. DD woke about 4 times. Going back to sleep with 5 mins but then I was wide awake for nearly 2hrs each time with DH snoring like the gruffalo next to me 😬

sashastuck · 02/05/2023 07:56

@buckingmad I’m calling GP today at 4 weeks but it’s my first pregnancy and I’m already riddled with anxiety! Not sure when that means my first appointment would be but will wait and see, don’t know how it works. I’ve also just booked an early scan for 8 weeks.

Any methods to calm myself down until then would be much appreciated, I’m nervous about spiralling into a hole of worry to be honest. Wouldn’t put it past me!

@TrudyProud that sounds really hard! I hope yours and DD’s sleep works itself out before all the fatigue sets in 😫X

Salamander91 · 02/05/2023 08:05

I won't be going to the gp until after my early scan at 7.5 weeks. I'm consultant led because I'm diabetic and sitting in a waiting room surrounded by happy women of various gestational when finding out I was having a mmc was the worst experience of my life. I refuse to be referred to them until I've seen a heartbeat at least.

buckingmad · 02/05/2023 08:12

@sashastuck i did the same as you with my first. I’ve moved since but where I had my first you self referred at the hospital rather than going through GP. I did that the day I got my BFP then had my booking in appointment at 10 weeks and my first private scan at just before 8 weeks I think.

Can’t help with the anxiety I’m afraid as I’m pretty bad following my early miscarriage a couple of months ago šŸ˜‚ I know some people don’t like them and tbh I’ve not used them before but I’ve bought the clear blue weeks tests and am going to do one in a few days when I expect to get a 2-3 and then a week after that and hopefully get a 3+. I think once I see that I’ll refer myself to the midwife.

Matildahoney · 02/05/2023 10:59

I got my BFP this morning, I miscarried in Sept at 12 weeks, so hoping with everything I have that my 🌈 sticks. I ovulated before day 13 of my cycle this month, and I have a 31 day cycle, NHS calculator says my due date is 7th Jan.
I also had a double yolker this week, my first one ever!
DP isn't home until tonight & I can't decide whether to tell him now or later! I want to see his reaction first hand I think. Congratulations all. Looking forward to our journey.

tulipsunday · 02/05/2023 11:16

Hi can I join? Bfp this morning and due 12.01.23 Last two pregnancies ended in miscarriage so don't know how this will go but will be good to have some people to chat to on the journey 🄰 congrats everyone x

buckingmad · 02/05/2023 11:28

@tulipsunday i have the same due date and also had a miscarriage recently.

Congratulations xx

tulipsunday · 02/05/2023 11:37

Thank you and congrats to you @buckingmad . When did you find out? Sorry to see many of us are pregnant after loss/es. I am still in shock really!

buckingmad · 02/05/2023 11:44

@tulipsunday i got a faint line on Sunday and then confirmed with a digital yesterday morning. I think I maybe ovulated a day or two earlier than I thought as otherwise I got a pretty decent line for 9dpo afternoon wee! So due date might move around a bit, I had about 4 different due dates with my daughter šŸ˜‚

lucya66 · 02/05/2023 12:29

Welcome everyone and congrats on your bfp!

I am 5w3d today and got my midwife appointment for in two weeks.

no symptoms yet except from fatigued in the evenings and waking every morning at 5am for a wee

Bims2019 · 02/05/2023 13:02

Hope everyone is getting on ok, and congrats to people who have recently joined!

I called and made a referral to the midwife today, I'm 4+6 so not sure if it's still a bit early but wanted to get things moving! Other than that just counting down to the early scan in 2 weeks, time is really dragging.

Still minimal symptoms, some insomnia and was really tried yesterday as a result. Trying to resist the urge to test again šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Mushroo · 02/05/2023 13:21

Hi everyone, nice to see all the new joiners! I’m 5+3 and feel I’m getting less symptoms which is somewhat worrying. Still waking up at 5am everyday though.

Still no appointment yet so will need to follow up next week. I’m going to use a clear blue tomorrow morning and hope for that 3+ weeks!

Hope everyone else is getting on ok.

Infertilemillenial · 02/05/2023 14:26

I feel so lucky to be joining this thread after 2.5 years of trying and multiple tests and scans. I've self referred to the midwife and I'm 4+2 so very early but wanted to get it done. Congratulations to all of you 🄳

Ps. I'm still in utter disbelief! Anybody else?

sashastuck · 02/05/2023 14:38

Wow congratulations to everyone who got their BFP today! This is so exciting!šŸ˜

sashastuck · 02/05/2023 14:44

Ps how many tests did you do before you decided ā€˜right that’s enough’? I’ve taken one for the last 4 days and run out now. Would it be absolutely mad and unnecessary to test every day for the next week or or is it good to check line progression periodically?

buckingmad · 02/05/2023 14:57

@Infertilemillenial congratulations. It took us a year with our first and I literally couldn't believe it for a few days! We're now trying for our second and I got pregnant the first month of trying but sadly lost it, then had a month where my cycle didn't really know what it was doing and then have got another BFP this month. Giving birth must have given my fertility a bit of a kick start šŸ˜‚

@sashastuck with my first I did two. One that I got my BFP on and then another the day of my private scan about 3 weeks later just as a bit of a confidence boost before the scan.

This time round I've done a morning and an evening one every day since getting my initial BFP because my anxiety is through the roof. This Friday will be the same day cycle wise as my miscarriage so I think once I pass that I will hopefully relax a little.

Bims2019 · 02/05/2023 15:26

@Infertilemillenial congratulations! Know completely how you feel, we tried for 3 years and I'm still in shock that our first round of IVF was successful. It doesn't feel real at all yet and I suspect it won't for a while! I'd got to the point where I didn't think I'd ever be able to join one of these threads, feeling very lucky and nervous. Enjoy the feeling of being pregnant šŸ’ž

@sashastuck I used up my last test this morning and think I will try not to buy any more now. I totally get wanting the reassurance so think you should do what you need to. What's in the back of my mind is I've heard at some point the tests might get lighter due to the amount of HCG (hook effect?), so wouldn't want to be panicking for no reason. But also definitely understand if it helps to test. Are you still getting strong positives?

Infertilemillenial · 02/05/2023 15:42

@buckingmad thank you 🄰 sorry to hear about your loss šŸ˜” I couldn't believe how strong the line was instantly because I don't know about you but after years of trying you get line eyes haha - there was no doubt at all and the digital also picked it up which I was surprised about. What date are you due around?

@Bims2019 thank you! It's the weirdest feeling isn't it! You're suddenly no longer in that camp of not being pregnant. Found it weird coming on here and picking the pregnancy section!

Have any of you had many symptoms yet? I'm extremely tired (like eyes stinging all the time tired!) and I'm peeing more frequently but I am also making a conscious effort to drink more! ā˜ŗļø

buckingmad · 02/05/2023 15:46

@Infertilemillenial well with my first I for some bizarre reason used a digital! So couldn't deny the words. But this time round yes thought I had line eyes.

I'm due 12/01 currently but I'm not 100% on when I ovulated so I think it could potentially come forward a couple of days. My first was 5 days early so who knows what this one will do!

Symptom wise just incredibly tired. I also have to burp a lot. These are exactly the same symptoms I had with my first.

sashastuck · 02/05/2023 16:27

Thanks @Bims2019 and @buckingmad , good to know how other ladies are doing things. And yes Bims strong positives, I’ve annoyingly been using different tests (2 CB early ones, 2 CB normal ones) but each test has been stronger than the last for the type I used. Can anyone else not find First Response anywhere?!

@Infertilemillenial the only symptom I’ve got is tender boobs to touch, but only if I press them. No fatigue yet but I’m patiently waiting for it to kick in so it feels more real! I’ve also been having random short crampy/gurgly stomach feelings all week. X

tulipsunday · 02/05/2023 16:36

@sashastuck I get first response ones from Amazon but sounds like your tests are great so wouldn't worry about keep testing.

@Infertilemillenial only got bfp today. Boobs feel full and tender. Some hip pain. Lower back cramps and a bit shivery.

Mushroo · 02/05/2023 16:36

After bemoaning my lack of symptoms this morning I’m exhausted. Genuinely just nearly fell asleep in a work meeting. Think I might need a nap at 5pm!

Is anyone getting an early scan? DH wants to wait 10 weeks and we can get the NIPT at the same time. It makes sense but it’s so far away!

(Also interested in opinions on NIPT, we don’t have any risk factors, but can afford it and if anything is wrong would rather know sooner than later I think)

buckingmad · 02/05/2023 16:39

@sashastuck I've never used FRER's but only ever see bad things about them and indents. I really like the boots pink dye tests. You get 2 for about £6 and they've always worked really well for me.

@Mushroo I will be getting one at about 6-7 weeks. I had one at 7-8 weeks ish with my first and found it really reassuring. Re NIPT we just did the NHS checks at 12 weeks as we are also low risk.
