I can see one for this so in my excitement thought I’d start one. Due date is 1st Jan for me 😊

I’m 37 and pregnant with no. 2. We tried for 4 months so lucky not too long.

Just burping! stupid really.

Sorry you're getting frozen @cossie13 - you can remind them to shut it as the heating bills are high! Older people always understand about the bills.

Ooo that's a good idea!

RG9895 · 19/05/2023 13:48

How quickly did you get your appointments? I only referred Tuesday and I'm inpatient already šŸ˜‚ starting to worry as I'm over 6 weeks now

Blessedmummytobe · 19/05/2023 13:51

Is anyone from Manchester on this thread? Just wondered what hospital you had chosen and why? X

Mushroo · 19/05/2023 13:58

@Blessedmummytobe me! I’ve chosen Wythenshawe as my SIL gave birth there and seemed to get on ok. (I was also born there so just seems like the default!).

Im equidistant between there and MRI but just went with Wythenshawe as getting to town at during rush hour could be a nightmare.

Overall, I’ve had colleagues give birth at MRI and Stepping Hill and they said good things. My colleague who used Stepping Hill had to have a very late medical termination and she said they were wonderful.

My knowledge of North Manchester is more limited, sorry!

Bims2019 · 19/05/2023 15:26

@Blessedmummytobe I'm also not far from Manchester and think I'm going with Stepping Hill as it's the closest! Was given other options of Wythenshawe and St Mary's, but they're a bit far out from us. From some (limited) research I found decent reviews about all of them so for us it came down to convenience.

It was one of the first things the midwife asked when I called to book an appointment as well, I wasn't expecting to have to choose so early and didn't have a clue!

TrudyProud · 19/05/2023 15:36

Anxiety at šŸ’Æ! I'm getting a pedicure and muscle memory said yes to turning on the massage functionality. Has anyone done that before (while in 1st trimester)?
The internet says it's okay but I know massages in general aren't recommended in the 1st trimester so now I'm panicking.

I turned it off before they started taking off the dead skin so wasn't using the function for long but worried. We're flying to a wedding tomorrow morning and not sure if I should try to get a scan this afternoon

Blessedmummytobe · 19/05/2023 15:43

@Mushroo @Bims2019 šŸ‘‹šŸ¾ nice to see I’m not the only one! I went into my doctors yesterday and was sent a text to pick! I looked up CQC but St Mary’s hasn’t had a review since 2019 but I’ll probably choose there as it closer and also where I was born!

I wanted to wait before booking but I’m also in the ā€œno symptomsā€ gang so would like a scan asap if poss eventhough I’m going to do a private NIPT/Scan/gender revea (as sooooo deal for a girl lol!) at 10 weeks!

Sooooo exciting! šŸ’žšŸ’œ

Mushroo · 19/05/2023 15:43

@TrudyProud it will 100% be fine.

Coincidentally I was looking into massages im during pregnancy yesterday and the main reason they suggest not to in the first trimester is because there’s a high risk of miscarriage anyway, and the salons don’t want the risk attributed to the massage if you happened to have a miscarriage the day after a massage.

In any case, there’s absolutely no risk to a short foot massage! Enjoy the holiday

Mummyme87 · 19/05/2023 18:05

A massage isn’t going to cause a miscarriage. Honestly dont worry

AlaskaWaves · 19/05/2023 18:06

Hello! 5+2 here, tentatively joining šŸ‘‹šŸ¼

JaffaCake123 · 19/05/2023 19:40

Welcome @AlaskaWaves I am 5+2 too šŸ™‚

Redpanda21 · 19/05/2023 20:53

Hi. Joining as due around 22nd-25th Jan. Cant really pinpoint as used to have 25 day cycles when trying a couple of years back but my first cycle off the pill was 27 days and now I’m pregnant cycle 2!

Congratulations! I am due the 27th! How are you feeling? X

Redpanda21 · 19/05/2023 22:03

@Valerie94 no symptoms but I have got a stinking cold/cough at the moment so I could be more preoccupied feeling rubbish with that than to notice pregnancy symptoms.

I am a little shocked it happened so quickly, nervous though as well. Last time it was 2 years, few early losses and a really bad mmc. So feeling as though it could all go wrong still. Really happy on the other hand though! Such a mixture of emotions at the moment.

how about you?

My sister was the same she thought she was suffering a cold/flu and didn't realise she was pregnant.

Keeping everything crossed for you! I'm just struggling with the cramps but I always suffer terribly with my cycles. I'm just going to pretend like I don't even know and maybe I won't worry as much and time will go faster x

TrudyProud · 19/05/2023 22:25

Thanks @Mummyme87 @Mushroo . I was enjoying the back massage then with a jolt I was thrown down to earth.

Thankfully I feel no different than pre massage and pedicure.

Gaagh, can't wait to be at the stage I can count kicks to keep myself occupied

Dannic2018 · 19/05/2023 23:41

Does anyone get really cold especially on a night ? Also started my progesterone pessaries yesterday so fingers crossed šŸ¤ž

I bounce between boiling hot and freezing cold, it's almost like there is no middle ground for me.

I'm 5+2 today too @AlaskaWaves hiišŸ‘‹ I did a clear blue that gave me 2-3 weeks on Thursday, which I think marries up? Will do the other next weekend.

I did the online referral on Tuesday and my Dr's tried to call me Wednesday, might be related but when I called back the receptionist had no idea as there were no notes on my file. So who knows.

I've come down with an awful cough, not sure if it's a symptom or one of the children at work have given me a virus. I definitely have insomnia again and my gag reflex has gone (was my first symptom with ds, before I'd even missed my period), I can't brush my teeth without wanting to throw up...

ThomasinaLivesHere · 20/05/2023 05:27

I can’t say I’ve noticed a difference in how I feel temperature wise although one good point about having a winter baby is not being uncomfortable with the heat when heavily pregnant. My son was born in a hot summer and the last month or so wasn’t pleasant so hoping cooler temperatures will be nicer.

I know what you mean about brushing your teeth. I’m fine for most of it but just trying to clean the back teeth sometimes 🤢

Ladies please reassure me as I can’t take my own advice! I’ve woken up with sore boobs gone! 😄I had plenty of symptoms yesterday including the sore boobs, sciatica and (blush) diarrhoea after constipation. Now I’m prodding them and nothing really.

TrudyProud · 20/05/2023 06:59

@sashastuck its normal. The placenta is starting to take over as the nutrient source. Most women who experience typical symptoms note they stop/tail off around 7 weeks.

Try not to worry

Lightningrain · 20/05/2023 07:49

@sashastuck I’m 7 weeks today and had a couple of mornings in the last week where I woke up and found the boob soreness had gone. It’s back again today but try not to worry as for me it doesn’t seem to be there constantly.

Is anyone else waking up in the early hours and not being able to get back to sleep for ages? It’s happened a few times this week and it’s so frustrating when I’m tired all the time. This morning I woke at 4 and ended up reading my book for almost an hour.

RootsHere · 20/05/2023 07:52

Morning all, speaking of sore boobs.. so I’ve not had sore boobs since pre DD 3 years ago, since getting pregnant with her I have not experienced sore boobs with any of my periods. I’m 5+1 today and not had any symptoms other than a slight pain around uterus, it’s pretty constant and I quite like it as it’s my only sign šŸ˜‚

So back to boobs. This morning I woke up and my boobs are not sore, but the nipples are. Is this what we mean when we speak of sore boobs? I honestly can’t remember what sore boobs feels like! šŸ˜‚ Assume most women get actual sore boobs, not just nipples?

sashastuck · 20/05/2023 07:55

@TrudyProud @Lightningrain thank you for the reassurance! Hopefully they come back soon.

@Lightningrain yes, I feel like once I’m awake, I’m up. Woke up at 6:30ish this morning and that was it!

@RootsHere sore nipples are definitely normal! For me, it’s side boob pain. But I’ve seen loads of people say sensitive nipples x
