I can see one for this so in my excitement thought I’d start one. Due date is 1st Jan for me 😊

I’m 37 and pregnant with no. 2. We tried for 4 months so lucky not too long.

@cossie13 not common at all no. It’s not something routinely discussed after a CS, often included in the risk chat when considering an elective.

Mummyme87 · 17/05/2023 13:50

@stressshead the baby can implant on the scar and the placenta also can. If baby does it’s a form of ectopic, if it’s near the risk of placenta forming there is higher also. But like I said, it is rare, but because I see it a lot it’s a real risk for me. Most people will never hear of it. Think it’s like 0.3 risk in prev CS.

WitcheryDivine · 17/05/2023 13:53

Thanks @TunnocksTCake, that's really helpful to know.

I'm so sorry you went through that awful situation too xx

Valerie94 · 17/05/2023 13:54

Thank you!
just had some strange feelings . At one point a sharp pain on my right side and just a constant feeling of needing to check if I’m bleeding. Hopefully settles soon

Thank you so much for the information on it! I guess if the placenta sits at the posterior then all is good? I had posterior placenta with both of my others so I would hope this one follows suit

I am 6 weeks today and due around 11th January!

So scary. I'm no longer together with the dad (completely other story, life stuff) but he is being absolutely amazing and going above and beyond for me and our little bean.

Really really excited for things to come. I've got my booking appointment Monday!

This is my first pregnancy too! Everything's so new to me Grin

suz2285 · 17/05/2023 15:09

@WitcheryDivine same boat here, MC 8 weeks in Feb, and this time i was trying to stay calm and just imagine all ok but i did the 21 day progesterone test before i got my BFP and it was really low, so now i'm imagining this baby isn't going to be sticking around, i'm almost 5 weeks now and it's just one worry after another, some days are better than others but yeah.... i feel like i should be doing more, i've just done another private test to see if the progesterone is up but googling low progesterone just throws up all sorts of issues, including bad quality eggs 😄

WitcheryDivine · 17/05/2023 15:30

Sorry for everyone experiencing worries for different reasons.

@Valerie94 the thing that most surprised me first time was how many period like aches and pains I was having throughout, I was frequently having a warm pad on my stomach, kept expecting to start bleeding.

The fact that early pregnancy can feel exactly like you're starting your period is just one of many cruel tricks of the female reproductive system it seems! šŸ˜†

sashastuck · 17/05/2023 15:33

Massive congratulations @clearlyy and @Valerie94 !! Valerie I feel similar - even today I have had a few ā€˜period cramps’. It’s so strange but normal! X

@Mummyme87 glad your scan showed all is well x

Valerie94 · 17/05/2023 15:38

Thank you so much! Congratulations to you too. I’m just a bit worried as it’s all very one sided to the right is that normal ? Sometimes it’s right in the centre too and I also wonder does this cramping stop once you get passed your first missed period?

Mummyme87 · 17/05/2023 15:42

@Valerie94 I was really crampy from 10dpo until maybe a couple of days post AF due So until about 16dpo. Almost painful, and all to my left.. which made me worry a little. Turns out that’s the ovary the egg came from and the side it’s been burrowing deep. I don’t really get the cramps anymore

Bims2019 · 17/05/2023 16:32

@Mushroo it definitely does feel more real, and I find it so surreal that all that is going on inside with us barely feeling a thing! Will be thinking of you on Saturday, not long to go now 😊

@TrudyProud thank you,and I agree it's difficult to know around when to have an early scan. Not sure if/when I would have done if it hadn't been arranged by the fertility clinic, but leaving it until a bit later sounds like a good plan for reassurance.

@Vikki7 I'm on progesterone pessaries twice a day too, mine are cyclogest 400mg. Don't think I've had any side effects from them really apart from the lovely discharge, and tender boobs/tiredness but hard to know if that is the pessaries or pregnancy! If they're affecting you that much though I'd probably think about talking to your doctor/midwife, it doesn't sound very nice for you atm and they may be able to look at the dosage or an alternative?

Bims2019 · 17/05/2023 16:35

@Vikki7 sorry just noticed you said you're on supplements rather than pessaries, so not sure how different they are. Would probably still talk to someone though to see if there is anything they can suggest!

sashastuck · 17/05/2023 16:39

@Valerie94 I’m 6+1 and actually have had about the same amount of cramps this week as I did week 4. All central but I do get twinges on either side (can feel it on my right side as we speak!)
I do think it’s normal but of course if pain gets worse anything then seek guidance x

Valerie94 · 17/05/2023 17:05

i just wonder if they’ll settle or disappear. I noticed that the pain in my boobs comes and goes but the cramps don’t they just stay central or move from one side to another. I’m 3 weeks 4 days so my period is due Saturday but I’ve had BFP on various tests. I thought maybe once the missed period part happens the cramps would settle but I don’t think that’s how it works x

RG9895 · 17/05/2023 17:08

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and still get cramps every now and then although they are a lot less frequent than a couple of weeks ago and only last a couple minutes x

EL27 · 17/05/2023 17:13

Hello again all.

I'm 6+5 today. Been having the worst nausea and dizziness. Feels like I've just come off a roller coaster but worse! But I haven't actually been sick. I feel like I'm forcing myself to eat as thought of food doesn't appeal to me most of the time. (Which is sooo not like me I'm a massive foodie). Anyone else feeling like this?

Also decided to contact my GP today about appointments ect. they told me to pop in and told me to fill in a form with all my details and gave me a maternity pack with some info and goodies which I'm having a read through. How long roughly does it take for them to call back? Because I'm so impatient and these days are dragging out very slowly.

lucya66 · 17/05/2023 17:36

@EL27 sorry to hear you’re poorly. I am also with the morning sickness and it’s horrible. Only eating relieves it for a moment. Or sleep.

I don’t know how I can go through all the first trimester feeling like this.

ginger tea and biscuits has not helped.
have you found anything that’s helped?

EL27 · 17/05/2023 18:24

@lucya66 thanks, it's so difficult isn't it I hope it doesn't last long! I haven't tried ginger tea or biscuits yet I'm willing to give anything a go. In work I keep a box of tic tacs in my pocket whenever I feel nauseous. They do help me a little.

I really struggle with not telling work I'm pregnant as I feel some of my coworkers may think I'm getting lazy when I'm just trying to get through work without suffering so much.

WitcheryDivine · 17/05/2023 19:26

"I really struggle with not telling work I'm pregnant as I feel some of my coworkers may think I'm getting lazy when I'm just trying to get through work without suffering so much."

I know exactly what you mean. I'm also paranoid about saying how I feel in case it's a giveaway. Even saying I really fancy a certain food or that i'm feeling tired.

Firsttimerugbymum · 17/05/2023 19:32

Hi Everyone!

Joining this thread as found out I’m due 19th January!

super excited but anxious at the same time. Not feeling many symptoms at the minute, just cramps, tiredness and now my boobs are starting to feel sore.

Agreed that it’s so difficult not to tell work. If I feel significantly unwell I’m not sure whether to tell my boss at least in order to get a bit of flexibility but it’s a gamble so early on…

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 17/05/2023 20:56

I've told my head teacher, as she knows how hard I've found getting pregnant. She was ecstatic, I've also told my best friend. Dh and I plan to tell parents this weekend, and will let the wider family know once I've had the 12 week scan.

Symptom wise, I had nothing except a missing period and 6 positive tests. But since Monday night insomnia has kicked in and today nausea started 🫣

VioletMountainHare · 17/05/2023 22:24

Hi Everyone šŸ‘‹ Tentatively joining following my scan today. I’m 5+3 so need to go back in two weeks to see if anything develops in the embryonic sac. I lost my last pregnancy at 14 weeks at the start of the year and first at 7 week last summer so this stage feels all too familiar.

Was expecting to be prescribed progesterone today but they said we need to wait until they see a baby on the next scan before they’ll give me them. Did some research online tonight which says I should have been given a 14 day prescription. Has anyone else been made to wait until later for progesterone? I was told when I lost the last baby I’d get it from 6-16 weeks.

Vikki7 · 17/05/2023 22:28

I had an empty scan at 5 weeks (not even a gestational sac) and it was suspected an ectopic pregnancy. I went back at 6+1 and we found baby and baby had a heartbeat. I was prescribed progesterone (Utrogestan) that day but couldn't pick them up until 6+4 as pharmacy closed for the weekend. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow.

Mummyme87 · 18/05/2023 06:19

@VioletMountainHare hmmm I’m not sure. I thought you got progesterone once they could confirm it was in the uterus?

got my 3+ this morning ā™„ļø no more tests left. Did an OPK yesterday just because and my god, the test line was so dark as soon as the urine went over it. So happy to see. No more pregnancy tests, not buying more now either. Feeling nausea in the mornings, a bit wretchy which is lush. Insomnia is the pits, keep waking at 5, and started dozing at 6 for my alarm to go off at 6.07 😭 and off to work
