I can see one for this so in my excitement thought I’d start one. Due date is 1st Jan for me 😊

I’m 37 and pregnant with no. 2. We tried for 4 months so lucky not too long.

Glad to know it's normal. Thanks @TunnocksTCake

Re the scans etc. in my borough they'll always find a way to slot you in so you have your scans at the right time. With my daughter some people self referred the day of BFP but I still was seen before them (despite not referring until after 7 weeks) as I was further along.

TrudyProud · 16/05/2023 12:51

@94madame In my trust you have MW booking in before the scan but in my previous trust the booking in and scan were on the same day. MW booking at 830am. 1st trimester scan at 10am. I was 11 weeks at the time

There is no standard

Twinkles18 · 16/05/2023 13:10

Thanks @TunnocksTCake it looked new but it wasn’t a dark red..hard to tell! I don’t have any pains/cramping so hoping you’re right about the hormonal changes..there’s been no more spotting since so hopefully that’s it šŸ™ˆ if there’s any more I may ring EPU to have a quick check. Thanks again x

sashastuck · 16/05/2023 13:19

@Twinkles18 sorry to hear you’re worried - I see so many similar posts where everything turns out to be completely fine so I really hope/sure you are too. ā¤

@94madame I have a 9 week booking appt and bloods at 11 weeks before my 12 week scan. A bit annoying regarding work to have 3 separate ones but like people said, I think every place is different.

Could I ask for advice about telling work actually… the policy at my school is that the Head has to see your appointment letter at least 10 working days in advance of the appt. Mine is 9th June, and there’s half term coming up, which means I have to request the time off THIS week, I’m only 6 weeks! Should I just pull a sicky on the day of the appt and then I can tell her at 9 weeks about the next appts? So unsure of what to do 😩

WitcheryDivine · 16/05/2023 13:48

I had to tell people at work early last time for H&S reasons and tbh they were the same people I had to tell when I had the miscarriage anyway. Wasn’t something I wanted to do (either bit) but they have to be discreet with this information.

TunnocksTCake · 16/05/2023 14:19

@sashastuck that seems excessive, I often dont receive appoitnment letters more than 10 days before an appointment! Could you take a photo when you do receive it if on half term and email it? Or if you want to wait a bit longer before telling work could you request an evening appointment? mine were always fine with that and did appts until 8pm

TunnocksTCake · 16/05/2023 14:20

@Twinkles18 Glad you havent had any more, fingers crossed it stays away, it is so worrying.

Bims2019 · 16/05/2023 14:39

Hi all, I had an early scan today at 6+6 and all is looking good 😊 measuring at just under 1cm, we saw a flicker of a heartbeat and heard it for the first time. It was all very quick and husband definitely had a better view of the screen than I did šŸ˜‚ but feeling relieved for now, and hope this provides some reassurance for anyone who doesn't have many symptoms at this point (@Mushroo looking at you!)

@sashastuck Telling work is a tricky one, mine have known from the start because I needed a lot of flexibility but I can understand why you'd want to wait. I also agree that having to produce written evidence of the appt 10 days in advance seems really excessive! There shouldn't be any harm in notifying them now though, as it should be kept confidential, you shouldn't be treated any differently as a result of your pregnancy and you might get some early support in terms of risk assessment, time off etc. But I suppose it depends on what your workplace is like. Are they usually supportive with this kind of thing?

Mushroo · 16/05/2023 14:45

@Bims2019 thank you - It really does! So pleased it all went well for you. I’m on the countdown to mine on Saturday.

I bet it feels a lot more real now! :)

Mummyme87 · 16/05/2023 15:21

Had HCG done again today and was 1315 which I’m happy with šŸ¤— think I’ll come in for a scan tomorrow morning as should be able to see something enough to confirm it’s in the uterus

TrudyProud · 16/05/2023 15:22

That's good to hear @Bims2019 .
@Mushroo how far along will you be on Saturday?

I'm 6 weeks exactly today (since LMP) but are away this weekend. Part of me would feel great going having already heard babies heartbeat but the other part of me still thinks I'm better waiting because I don't know when I ovulated and don't want to stress myself. Between here and FB I feel I'm missing out having not had one yet

Mushroo · 16/05/2023 15:31

@TrudyProud i should be 8 weeks. I’ve waited this long because it theory should be easy to find a heartbeat so it’s pretty definitive if there isn’t one.

I know I’d struggle if I’d gone earlier and there was lots of umming and aahing and end up having to be told to come back.

It’s so personal though - I think anything after 6 weeks is generally good.

TrudyProud · 16/05/2023 16:10

Makes sense @Mushroo . With my daughter I went at 7 weeks exactly and happily teared up listening to her strong heartbeat . I want that again so makes sense to wait. It's just hard as I'm seeing so many people and would feel much more comfortable knowing everything was moving along as it should.

Mushroo · 16/05/2023 16:15

@TrudyProud definitely. I’m really struggling not being able to tell people.

I hate the ā€˜sneakiness’ of not socialising too much because it’s so hard to hide not drinking, and having to leave early because I’m shattered. I can’t wait until we can tell a few close friends. It’s quite lonely atm!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 16/05/2023 16:15

I just realised it’s two weeks today until my first booking appointment 😊. It seemed ages away when I first got notice.

I’m hoping the midwife is good. Last time the midwife informed me from the start that I was likely going to swap to another one and seemed a bit uninvested - forgot to tell me to take aspirin as an example. Each appointment i wondered if it was going to be someone different. I eventually did get moved to a new one in my third trimester who was much nicer but only saw her twice.

I had my mw appt today and it was fine. She was lovely.

I had low blood pressure and felt like I might faint when she was taking bloods but she said it was normal and to just keep eating and drinking.

morning sickness really not nice now. Feel like I’m not getting anything done as I nap so much and feel sick when I’m not napping or eating.

LondonNQT · 16/05/2023 17:08

Does the booking in appointment take as long for and second/subsequent pregnancies as the first time?

I’ve just had my appointment email (having self referred yesterday) and it’s for this Saturday. I’ll only be 5 weeks and have lunch plans I’d rather not cancel!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 16/05/2023 17:19

A lot of things can change from your previous pregnancy so I’d imagine it can’t be shortened that much but don’t know for sure.

Hey Ladies I haven't been on in a little while, update from me is in 7+4 this is my first baby and I have told very close family, I had a girls weekend and it was so difficult I had to tell my friend and it helped me relax and she sorted out the drinks etc, so advice for anyone if ur going on a girls weekend or a hen 100% tell one person it will make your life easier 🄰

My symptoms have been pretty good so far, I had a lot of cramping but it has eased now, I had a 6 week scan I went for privately and everything is fine.

I am noticing I want rubbish food like pizza, pasta, not really wanting much meat or veg . I'm excited for another 4.5 weeks when we can tell everyone how is everyone else doing? šŸ’•šŸ’•šŸ¤°

Niam4 · 16/05/2023 18:19

just wondering how people test there hcg levels?

cossie13 · 16/05/2023 18:37

Hi everyone,

Can I join you all here please? Me and OH found out Sunday that we are expecting our first (my third) and we've estimated the due date to be 4th Feb! But due to 2 previous c-sections I will 100% need a section this time and it will have to be earlier than due date because I had ICP with my previous 2 pregnancies so it's highly likely I'll have it again!

How is everyone doing?

Mummyme87 · 16/05/2023 20:09

@Niam4 I do my HCG at work. I work in a maternity unit so easy access

Dannic2018 · 16/05/2023 20:32

Hi everyone and congratulations 🄳
I'm very very tentatively saying hi as I’m still unsure how things will pan out for us. I am 38 and have a 17,15 and 2.5 year old. We got pregnant November last year and I had a missed miscarriage on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day with twins 😢. So we haven’t been ā€˜trying’ but after having the heaviest 1st period after the miscarriage, my cycles have been 28 ish days and I was aware that I was ovulating by cramps and discharge so had the deed a bit 🤣. I really didn’t think I’d fall pregnant yet so it’s been a bit of a shock! I’ve got a scan booked in for the 31st May with my hospital due to this being our 3rd miscarriage and I’ve requested progesterone today on the phone but have to see if the consultant will let me have it earlier than my scan šŸ¤ž. I’m absolutely knackered, boobs killing when my son first starts feeding and on and off nausea. Really really praying this baby sticks as it’s so mentally draining and physically demanding when all you want is to stay pregnant. Going by last period I’m due 15th Jan šŸ™. I always thought when I fell pregnant in November that I couldn’t envision a July 23 baby and thought I’d have a 2024 baby and my husband had a vivid dream a few weeks ago that we had a little girl called Rosie. The week I conceived we were in Disney on every rollercoaster and drinking champagne etc so I really hope all will be ok 🤣. Sending lots of sticky baby dust ā¤ļø

JaffaCake123 · 16/05/2023 20:40

Welcome @cossie13 šŸ‘‹ I had ICP with my first pregnancy so was wondering whether I was likely to get it again.

JaffaCake123 · 16/05/2023 20:40

Welcome @cossie13 šŸ‘‹ I had ICP with my first pregnancy so was wondering whether I was likely to get it again.

Thanks ā˜ŗļø it was undiagnosed with my first but I had all the same symptoms with my second and mentioned them to the midwife who insisted on a blood test and lo and behold I had ICP. All of a sudden all the itching from #1 made sense! I'd be very surprised if I didn't get it this time around, hence the joining the January group and not Feb!
