I can see one for this so in my excitement thought I’d start one. Due date is 1st Jan for me 😊

I’m 37 and pregnant with no. 2. We tried for 4 months so lucky not too long.

@DearSam48 glad they were able to prescribe something, really hope it helps!

@Mushroo don't blame you at all for booking the scan, hope it goes well on Saturday! I still don't really have any symptoms either, apart from tender boobs, and thought I had a bit of nausea earlier but it didn't seem to last. So I don't feel very pregnant at all! I have an early scan tomorrow at 6+6 through the IVF clinic, like you feel excited and nervous to find out what's going on in there 🤣

@Forest27 welcome! Completely with you on analysing every twinge, it's driving me mad.

Mushroo · 15/05/2023 12:41

@Bims2019 thank you - nice to hear from someone else who isn’t having that many symptoms.

Let me know how you get on tomorrow :)

Cheebs · 15/05/2023 13:10

Hey all,

May sound stupid but I'm waiting for my booking in appointment with the midwife- when I get a date do I take my husband along, or is just me that goes?
No idea how these things work lol

PartRadish · 15/05/2023 13:18

@Cheebs I'd say it's up to you really, if you'd like to go together then definitely do but he doesn't have to be there. I think my husband came to two out of three of ours.

From memory (my last one was 7 years ago so it's a bit vague now) I think they do ask some family history type questions so it's useful if he's there from that perspective, but not essential.

TrudyProud · 15/05/2023 13:34

@Cheebs my husband came with me for our DD as she's our firstborn. He won't be coming to this babies booking in appointment but will attend all scans.

Note, in most hospital trust at least he won't be able to sit in the waiting room with you (you have to call him through when it's your appointment) also at some point during the appointment they'll ask him to leave so they can ask their safeguarding questions.

Mummyme87 · 15/05/2023 13:35

@Cheebs it’s totally up to you. My DH has never been to any midwife appt with me, but I’m a midwife and don’t feel like I need his support for this kind of thing. They will ask family history on both sides, so maybe just check in with him in advance to see if there’s anything significant, generics/congenital anomalies etc

Mummyme87 · 15/05/2023 13:35

hat was supposed to say genetics not genetics

TrudyProud · 15/05/2023 13:41

Booking appointment at 9+2 weeks, NHS scan at 12+4 weeks.

Soo far away so now need to find an early scan appointment. With DD I had my early abdominal scan at 7+0weeks and heard her heartbeat etc. has anyone had one earlier than 6+1 weeks and heard the heartbeat? Ideally abdominally.

Not sure if I should sneak one in before we go away this weekend or just wait till next week. I definitely want to know I'll 100% hear the heartbeat and don't fancy a transvaginal scan.

TrudyProud · 15/05/2023 13:42

@Cheebs most was supposed to say my

Cheebs · 15/05/2023 13:51

@TrudyProud @Mummyme87 @PartRadish

Thanks guys, that's cleared it up for me.
Just had an email through about badger notes, so hoping to hear from midwife soon.
I just want a date in my head, something to look forward to.

Ive got an early scan booked in on the 03rd june but want to get the ball rolling with midwife asap.
Far too impatient I am.

TunnocksTCake · 15/05/2023 14:55

Thanks @tulipsunday funnily enought it has eased off this afternoon and the nausea has taken its place...

Glad you got some help from the drs @DearSam48 hope it works quickly for you.

Congrats @Forest27 I know what you mean, its funny how quickly you forget the last time!

@Mushroo I will be having a scan at the same point, I was umming and ahhing about doing it a week earlier but I think due to O dates I would have been 6+5 and it would kill me if I didnt see a heartbeat.

@TrudyProud I think it would have to be transvaginal at that early stage and even then you might struggle before 6 weeks. Great you've got your appointments through but I agree it is a wait!!

Mushroo · 15/05/2023 14:59

@TunnocksTCake definitely, I’ve left it to 8 weeks so that even if I’m a bit behind, in theory everything should be clearly seen, so if it’s not I’ll know there and then if there is a problem.

Im so over the first trimester, I want to be post 12 weeks and start telling a few people.

LondonNQT · 15/05/2023 15:28

Tentatively joining you ladies. All being well I’m due 20 January with our second - the all pervasive nausea and exhaustion is very familiar and so much tricker with a toddler. Will gladly swop some with those of you feeling like they’re missing out… 😘

Fellow ā€˜homeless’ secondary teacher here
@Booklover88 - a decaf builders brew in a Bodum mug is my go to. I sip that throughout lessons (take that SLT!) and nibble on a biscuit en route between lessons.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 15/05/2023 15:33

Congratulations @LondonNQT ! Yes it’s so much harder with a toddler. I remember the first time around just taking it easy when I was tired and feeling sick but can’t now.

Niam4 · 15/05/2023 15:39

Just wondering has anyone felt some lump like at the under part of there breasts more tender on one side?

sashastuck · 15/05/2023 15:44

@Niam4 I thought at one point they felt a bit lumpy on the sides. I definitely have one boob more painful than the other!

@LondonNQT congratulations! ā¤

TunnocksTCake · 15/05/2023 16:35

@LondonNQT Omg I used to visit that site every day with my first! a great reassurance tool.

@Niam4 I wouldnt say lumpy but definitely more sensitive on the sides and one more than the other.

Mushroo · 15/05/2023 16:38

@LondonNQT im obsessed with that tool!

Although I then scare myself into rabbit holes on mumsnet as so many miscarriages seem to happen post 7/8 weeks when the data suggests that’s rare.

I need to step away from googling!

buckingmad · 15/05/2023 16:47

@Mushroo you just need to remember that a bit like reviews, people tend to only post about the bad stuff. There will be thousands of pregnancies that go swimmingly that you just don’t read about on here. Whereas people going through something hard are more likely to post for support or reassurance.

Mushroo · 15/05/2023 16:56

@buckingmad thats very true, good point! Thank you x

buckingmad · 15/05/2023 17:09

@Mushroo you’re welcome ā˜ŗļø I find I’m much better at being rational to other people than myself šŸ˜‚ I still find myself checking the miscarriage reassurance site that was posted above about 3 times a day.

Im resisting all urges not to move my early scan to the earliest possible day (from 30/05 to this Friday). But I wanted to avoid the chance of not seeing a heartbeat and getting myself in a tizz. I’m impatient!

xLJ1990x · 15/05/2023 17:13

Did anyone spot multiple times in their pregnancy? I thought I already had implantation bleeding but spotting again...

Mushroo · 15/05/2023 17:14

@buckingmad totally get it, it’s so easy to be sensible when advising other people!

How many weeks are you now? If you can bare it worth waiting until at least 7 for a scan so there is less room for uncertainty

buckingmad · 15/05/2023 17:20

I’m 5+3 so 6 on Friday. I went before when I was 7+3 I think and I know in reality I don’t want to go any earlier than that and I’ve booked it for about the same time. Just still feels like ages away šŸ˜‚
