@LS888 we have a mamas and papas cot mattress and it's not any better than the ikea ones tbh! Wait till they are on sale! Not worth £200 for the premium and usually go down to £120!

BCxx · 22/06/2023 18:52

@LS888 i just got a new snuz pod mattress but I’m sure it said on their website all the cribs it would fit so it’s not just snuz ones. When we had it with our first it was a tiny thin mattress it came with but they’ve upgraded it a bit now and it feels firm but more substantial. They sell snuz ones in mamas and papas. We have a silver cross cot bed one that has the baby side and 18 months + side but realistically I don’t know how much better that is than just a standard mattress!

Rowanandremy · 22/06/2023 19:07

@Miraclesdohappen88 congratulations on your son! So pleased that everything is going well and really hope you get all the cuddles today or very soon. Lovely name and the meaning behind it💙

Definitely made me realise we need to get the bags packed just in case!

@LS888 we got a second hand cot and crib, we just bought mattresses that fit the dimensions without them being brand specific to the cot/crib.

Marmaladebear · 22/06/2023 21:50

@Miraclesdohappen88 huge congratulations!! So happy for you ♥️♥️ sending lots of love xxx

BCxx · 22/06/2023 22:12

@Miraclesdohappen88 his name is so lovely! 💙

Paintandpots · 22/06/2023 23:58

@Miraclesdohappen88 congratulations on your little baby boy being born. Glad your both OK and just getting into the swing of things. Hope he gets to go home with you soon so you can give him loads and loads of kisses and cuddles when ever you want to.

Daisy155 · 23/06/2023 15:02

@Miraclesdohappen88 the name just brought me tears what a beautiful meaning welcome to the world baby Luca! So happy to hear he is doing well 💙

HRSC · 23/06/2023 16:16

@Miraclesdohappen88 Congratulations on your baby! Hope you can take him home soon 💛

Is anyone else completely exhausted and lacking in energy/motivation?! I have no energy to do anything at all! We’ve just moved back into our home after 3 months of renovations and there’s so much to tidy and sort out but I just can’t bring myself to do any of it! All I want to do is lie on the sofa while the chaos surrounds me ! 😴🫠

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 23/06/2023 16:34

I've just had my appointment letter come through for my Birth Choice appointment where I will be electing a c-section. Anybody else had one of these and know if they will also give me the c-section date during that appointment?

DesertSnow · 23/06/2023 18:06

Huge congratulations on your little boy @Miraclesdohappen88! I love the name. Hope you're both doing well. Guess when I do the new list I can add you to the 'delivered' list!

We had our latest FMU scan today and placenta is holding steady thank goodness. 35 weeks tomorrow so feeling a bit better about it now. Ideally she won't come out for a couple of weeks at least, but it's one day at a time and every day she stays in is another day closer.

@DesertSnow that is such good news, glad you are able to relax a little bit more now 👏🏻

Rowanandremy · 23/06/2023 18:52

@DesertSnow such good news! Fingers crossed it continues.

@HRSC I am constantly exhausted, I’ve just no energy but having to find it for dd when all I want to do is sit in my armchair and relax.

Is anyone else getting uncomfortable walking? I feel like if his head isn’t low and pressing on nerves then he’s flipping about and walking is just awful at the minute. My feet are hurting the longer I’m on them and my back has been aching for weeks - all things I didn’t have when I was pregnant with dd. Dw is starting to panic we don’t have everything we need for the hospital bags and has written lists and is panicking more because her mum made an offhand comment about baby arriving on or around her birthday which is very very soon - this is the woman who is usually spot on for when babies arrive and she got dds birthday absolutely right. I’m just trying not to think about it 😂

Spiralout · 23/06/2023 19:11

@DesertSnow so glad to hear your placenta is holding up, must be such a relief for you.

Can’t believe we are now having “delivered” added to the list! It’s all becoming real now.

@MinnieFirstTimeMum for my CS I had to have two appointment - one with a senior midwife and then one a few weeks later with a doctor. It was only at the second one that I got my appointment date. I was actually able to choose and could see how many other electives were booked on that day. My hospital runs an elective and a separate emergency c section Team so the chance of getting bumped a day is minimal - worth asking how that works in your hospital when you have the appointment. Good luck!

BCxx · 23/06/2023 19:41

@DesertSnow great news, 2 weeks to go and you’re full term so it’s looking good! Hopefully you can hang on a bit longer 😊

@MinnieFirstTimeMum last time I had to go for two appointments, one to go through all the risks etc then at the next one I was to give my decision (had already decided) 😂 This time I just have one and they’ll book it there and then if I want one so I think it probably depends on consultant and circumstances whether they give you the date that day or not

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 23/06/2023 19:44

Thank you @BCxx that is helpful to know.

Work are still waiting for me to give them my last working day but I am waiting on the c-section date before I give it to them. I want to try and hold off on starting Mat leave as long as possible so that I can pro-long those first 6 weeks of pay for as long as possible 😬

overwork · 23/06/2023 21:24

My first stretch marks have appeared. I know it's a bit daft in the scheme of things but I'm devastated. Have had a good old sulk this evening. I'm a bit uncomfortable about my bump anyway so I barely look at it / touch it, they could have been there a little while before I spotted them. But they're atleast low enough that I can't see them without the aid of a mirror at the moment.

BB1993 · 24/06/2023 06:57

@Miraclesdohappen88 Owh wow congratulations!! Glad you are both doing well! How wonderful !! 🥰 first thread baby!!

@DesertSnow great news about your placenta! 35 weeks is so close to term too!! 🙌 Our bodies are busy doing amazing things aren’t they 🥹

sally16 · 24/06/2023 07:42

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I had my appointment on Thursday and they phoned to book my C-section while I was sat with them :)
Unless your unsure they should just do it, might ask you too meet a consultant first for them to go over things and book for you because it's your first ❤️

P1pk · 24/06/2023 09:04

@Miraclesdohappen88 I'm so so happy for you!!! Huge congratulations!!! I hope you've managed to get some cuddles with Luca! Such a beautiful name too 😍

@DesertSnow so happy about your placenta moving. We had our scan appt yesterday and a small corner of my placenta is still with 2cm, so we've been booked in for an appt with a doctor. Not sure if they will offer another scan or just offer a csectiin.

I haven't really looked into a c section so I think before my appt I will do some research and have some questions ready.

BB1993 · 24/06/2023 09:27

@P1pk can I ask how many weeks along are you?

As I have just had a 32 week scan to check the location of my placenta ( it was low ) they said they’d offer another scan at 36 weeks if it was still close - hopefully you still have time if you aren’t 36 weeks yet !
mine had moved so fingers crossed for you!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 24/06/2023 09:59

Amazing thank you @sally16 🥰

Sjw30 · 24/06/2023 10:00

Out of curiosity, If they wanted to induce me early (polyhydramnios and GD) could I opt for an elective c section instead?

overwork · 24/06/2023 14:25

@Sjw30 I think so - I was offered a c-section at my booking appointment, I'd never even considered how I was going to give birth at that point. To be honest, I still don't know what I want!

BMK · 24/06/2023 14:59

Helloo all. I took a bit of a back seat after being totally shell shocked/stunned by annieapple's tragic news/loss. Could not believe it and just felt that anything I had to say paled when thinking of that/it affected my engagement with the chat. Particularly as it was Annie apple who set this whole thread up!
Anyway....I feel like I need to come back and totally relate to various of your struggles!
@Rowanandremy my baby has also been breach and transverse right up to my last scan 2 weeks ago (at 32 weeks then). I am not sure if she's turned but it's still extremely! uncomfortable on and off and feel like she's grabbing at my innards and squashing them and feels like she's moving around and sticking her limbs into me as she goes! Aswell as the kicks. *anyone else experiencing this or are those who know their babies are head down, not experiencing same?

I am also breathless after doing not much and exhausted too,but finding it increasingly hard to sleep at night. I don't have a pregnancy pillow and think that's where I might have gone wrong. Muscles of abdomen SO sore but this is when I continue as normal doing everything and wear myself out ,if I rest they're fine(but I can't seem to do it/noone else is doing it for me!)
As to c-sections and induction: just want all of you to put in the mix when making your decisions: each time you have a c-section it reduces further your possibility of future normal delivery but moreover with each subsequent pregnancy the risk of rupture of your uterus (or wherever the scar/stitching is)increases more and so much so that c-sections ought only be selected if people don't want more than maximum if 3 children. As beyond that it's not safe where you've had sections.
I learnt all this when being put under constant pressure by my Consultant in 1st pregnancy to be induced (on a weekday early do not to upset his nights and weekends- albeit obviously he didn't admit that but that's why they like scheduled inductions or c-sections, obv if you're not private /being attended by consultant, this doesn't arise).
The liklihood of needing a c section is something like 30 something % higher for a 1st time Mum than with those who have previously delivered and the liklihood of a failed/ineffective induction resulting in emergency c-section is something like 60% odds for 1st time Mums; so bear all this in mind when considering your decision and make sure to do your research and ask the relevant questions and if you don't get adequate answers keep pressing for all the information, not just the good news bits.
I was really annoyed to have been put in a position where I was essentially being forced to be induced when there was no medical need whatsoever for it and where the likely outcome would be a c section and where my Consultant did not tell me this nor that I would be limited in no of children I could have. When I put this to him he conceded it and said he simply thought that as I hadn't said I wanted a lot of children, that I mustn't and that it wasn't inevitable that induction would result in c section. I found this absolutely disgraceful and went for midwives after that. I also did not get induced and had perfect normal delivery when baby was ready.

Sorry for long post and thank you @BCxx for asking after me!!

BMK · 24/06/2023 15:00

also @Miraclesdohappen88 absolutely delighted for you and also really love the name but moreso when understand what it means!!
