@Needtobuildabridge i’m still struggling to want food a lot of the time. Partly because I am insanely gassy and any food I eat makes me burp endlessly. It’s honestly such a horrid feeling to be full of bubbles constantly. DP and the kids think it’s hilarious that I burp constantly but I’m feeling rubbish with it.

We’re going to find out the gender as we’re in the process of moving house and it will impact on our preference for how many bedrooms we need or will need to be able to create in the long run as youngest ones are all boys, so a girl would be lovely but realistically unable to share with her much bigger sister and as there will be a 4.5 year age gap between the new baby and the youngest DS who they will have to share with we’ll need to separate them in a few more years time if it’s a boy/girl mix.

to be honest the sonographer went through baby from head to bottom on the 12 week scan (where I was actually 13 weeks) and we were both pretty positive we saw that it was a boy, so are anticipating that. Have agreed on one boys name we both like so far, so feeling better about that, though obviously still looking for more options so we have choices.

Chanteuse · 16/04/2023 18:51

I have no boys names! I’m pretty set on a girls name if we are having a girl but no idea for boys 🙈 we’re finding out on 27th.

@PrimarilyParented I am also super burp-y. At my first appointment midwife asked me 3x if I was ok because I was burping and nauseous. She advised Gaviscon but I don't know which one I should take. I also vomit in the evenings because my stomach cannot deal with all the acid. It's just vile.

I still don't have my scan date and am getting worried, I want to see that the baby is all right. I am 12 weeks now. As I expected midwife couldn't take my bloods so there's that still to be done. No idea how long it will take before I can get my screenings done so when I read about your 20 weeks scans being booked I am really anxious.

I have no issues with the names - have them selected for over a decade so at least there's one worry less :)

@Needtobuildabridge I've definitely struggled with feeling starving but not wanting to eat anything. It's been getting better for about the last week (now 12+1). But I think that's partly because I've figured out things I really don't want which is a pretty long list (DH is very upset I have banned him from cooking bacon), and things I do, which seems to be mainly anything that goes well with jalapenos! Annoyingly I always really want tuna melt sandwiches, with jalapenos of course (although the idea of other fish makes me want to hurl) but I think we're only supposed to eat that very occasionally?!

Guys who are still exhausted, are you still taking supplements? I find if I miss a day or two then I really feel it. Also worth trying to get my iron in if possible, I had low iron last pregnancy and I was like a walking zombie for the first 16 weeks, it was AWFUL! I feel ok this time, obviously tired more than before but not exhausted. I’m struggling with nosebleeds though, they’re such a pain and give me an awful headache for ages afterwards!

Yes I'm taking pregnacare but still exhausted 😴

DancingNancies · 16/04/2023 20:15

@Needtobuildabridge I'm the same re food, I'm hungry but absolutely nothing appeals at all! On the odd occasion I do fancy something I've been wolfing it down asap which has meant some odd things at odd times!

@Jealousofchiliheeler I'm sure I read that although tuna is on the limited list, it's OK to have 4 tins a week - which isn't limiting it IMO as that's more than I'd be able to stomach in a week without being pregnant! 😂

PrimarilyParented · 16/04/2023 20:51

@peonygirl i lived off Rennies in my last pregnancy and they helped loads. I might try gaviscon this time though as I don’t think they’re working well enough and sometimes I feel too sick to take them. Like you the gas is making me feel sick and on one day I had horrendous cramps with them as all the air was trapped and it was agony.

glad you’ve got the names picked. For me last time I had names I liked but as soon as I was pregnant I went off them. But when I was about 14 weeks pregnant I heard my son’s name on the radio and just knew instantly. I got to choose his name though as I was a lone parent, but this time I have to agree with my partner which is so much harder (but also fun to be honest).

PrimarilyParented · 16/04/2023 20:53

for anyone worried about iron levels insist on a test for it at your next appointment, they didn’t check mine between booking and week 28 last time, by which point they were dangerously low (86) and I was told if I didn’t get them back up enough (over 105) I would have to be consultant led and considered high risk. This time round they’re going to check them much sooner (I’m insisting) and I’ll be insisting on taking iron tablets if they’re dropping at all.

Alexandra07 · 17/04/2023 00:30

@Ss32 Yeap, still taking pregnacare and exhausted! My hospital printed my booking appointment blood tests at my 12 week scan, they were all good. With the constipation I have now, I don't think I could handle more iron and make the situation worse!

PrimarilyParented · 17/04/2023 06:39

@Alexandra07 sometimes iron tablets have a laxative effect so they might not make the constipation worse.

ForeverAndEvers · 17/04/2023 08:01

I have my 12 week scan today and I’m so stressed about it. I’m my last pregnancy, at 20 weeks we had the situation where everyone goes quiet and they go out to get a consultant, and you instantly know something is wrong. What follows was 2 weeks of tests and actually in the end all the worse fears were ruled out, and my son was born with a very manageable medical condition. Logically I know a 12 week scan isn’t the same as 20 weeks, and that actually things turned out ok last time but it was the worst 2 weeks and just can shake the memory. Sorry to offload but just needed to get it out.

AlongcameLainey · 17/04/2023 09:55

@Alexandra07 you may be like me… iron has the opposite effect on me compared to other people!

May be a good thing for you 😊

AlongcameLainey · 17/04/2023 09:59

Definitely struggling with the tiredness still. Currently 13+6 - Last night I managed to actually stay awake past 9pm for the first time since getting my bfp. My 2.5 yo is going through some weird sleep regression so it’s Sod’s Law the one night I stay up late, she has me up twice in the night and ends up sharing our bed - needless to say I’m exhausted today 😓

Jealousofchiliheeler · 17/04/2023 10:03

@ForeverAndEvers sorry to hear you're feeling anxious. That does sound really stressful in the 20 week scan, it's awful when health professionals don't tell you what's going on. Glad it all was ok in the end and hope same is true today.

NSx · 17/04/2023 10:27

@VictoriaBlossom good luck today for your 12w scan and good luck to any others having it today ✨💕 I hope all goes well. Mine isn’t until Wednesday 😅

You definitely should've gotten a letter by 12 weeks. For all they know the dating is off and you could easily be 13+ by now, and running out of time for the standard combined testing. Can you chase your midwife?

Alexandra07 · 17/04/2023 11:50

@AlongcameLainey @PrimarilyParented I had constipation when I started iron last time I was pregnant, I doubt that anything changed since then! I was prescribed lactulose that didn't make a big difference. Last time I didn't take pregnacare, this time I do so hopefully I will not need extra iron.

@ForeverAndEvers I can imagine how the scan brings back memories. I am sorry to hear that you had to go through this stress, glad to hear everything was fine at the end! Try to think that it will be the first time you actually "see"your little baby! Good luck with the scan!

VictoriaBlossom · 17/04/2023 12:07

VictoriaBlossom · 17/04/2023 12:30

@NSx I will find out, it's split at the moment

My mum says boy

VictoriaBlossom · 17/04/2023 12:59

@NSx I think the skull does look rounder and shorter like a girl but I know nothing about scans
