So lovely to see all the scan pictures 💓

EMcG3 · 03/04/2023 20:04

@Chanteuse - yes, I did and also found it pointless and stupid. My response since has been to be as thoughtful as possible in my comments and to pay it forward what I would have liked to have heard. To wish them well in their pregnancy, to talk about how difficult it is, to talk about parenthood as difficult but also something really special. Maybe it will make a difference to others, and thanks to some idiot, I am now more aware of what I say.

Chanteuse · 03/04/2023 20:12

@EMcG3 that’s so lovely! I think it’ll definitely make me think about how I’m speaking to pregnant women in the future! 💕

PrimarilyParented · 03/04/2023 20:14

@Alexandra07 thank you. My parents and the rest of my family (it turns out) just think you should stay no matter what (except if there’s violence) once you have kids. I think that’s wrong, personally as a miserable home does nobody any good. Separated parents in two happy homes is better than parents together in one miserable home in my opinion. Our baby is very much wanted and loved by us both and they will be showered with love by their siblings too, I have no doubt about that.

EMcG3 · 03/04/2023 20:16

@pangolin84 - I had roughly the same timelines at work as you with my first. By the time I went out, I did not have the feeling of being new still. When I was back, it came up that I had been pregnant basically my whole tenure at the role and people were surprised. You will have been there nearly a year when you go out, and you still have many more months of working before you go. It is not always amazing to tell your manager, but if they are any good at managing, they will say some nice things, then move on and talk logistics.

Mamabear345 · 03/04/2023 20:22

@PrimarilyParented we did a private NIPT harmony test at 10 weeks, so we’ve know she was a girl since 11 weeks! 🎀

iloveeggs · 03/04/2023 20:31

@Mamabear345 I can't wait to get our results back, I can't wait to find out the gender!! Still another week to go, feels like forever.

Koalawhala · 03/04/2023 20:34

Congrats @BeaKind, @Chanteuse and @pangolin84! lovely to see your scan pics.

Looking forward to our scan next week as part of our NIPT, I’ll be 11+6 when we have it

OrionNebula · 03/04/2023 20:35

@Mamabear345 @PrimarilyParented same, we also had private NIPT and are also having another little girl

@Chanteuse we have the same due date! Roll on 8/10!

Soda123x · 03/04/2023 20:56

Age 36 baby #2
Had 2 private scans already due to spotting / bleeding all looked good for baby then at 6 & 8 weeks with string heartbeat.
Got my NHS booking appt this weds and will then be given NHS scan date xx

SillyOldBear3 · 03/04/2023 21:06

Thanks for thread 5! Just marking my place ☺️

Love seeing all the scan photos! 🥰 Mine is 3 days away 😬 so nervous!

DancingNancies · 03/04/2023 21:14

Place marking for thread 5!

I've dyed my hair thus pregnancy and throughout my previous 2 as well - NHS advice is that it's safe (though research is limited, they've not found anything harmful) so I will continue to hide my greys! 👵

The comments once you're pregnant are insane, the private things people see no issue in asking about! That was the only upside to a covid lockdown pregnancy, avoiding people meant I missed that second time round, bliss!

pangolin84 · 03/04/2023 21:56

@EMcG3 Thank you, that’s really helpful to hear 🙂 My first pregnancy was during the first covid lockdown and I only told a couple of people at work so most people had no idea as I was working from home for so much of it. I have no idea what a “normal” pregnancy involves and not particularly looking forward to the comments/questions.
I’m hoping it’s not going to be as bad as I imagine 🤞

AlongcameLainey · 04/04/2023 01:47

Aww loving all the scan photos - congrats everyone!

I am with @DancingNancies - I’ve dyed my hair all the way through my last pregnancy and this one.

@pangolin84 same here. My DD was born in the first lockdown so it’ll be strange having normal experiences this time!

VictoriaBlossom · 04/04/2023 07:53

So happy to see the scan pics @Chanteuse and @BeaKind
It's 13 days and counting for my 12 week scan.
Once the bank holiday weekend is over it'll fly but each day is just dragging

VanillaOat · 04/04/2023 08:42

Morning ladies, can anyone link me to a reasonable and good pregnancy pillow please? Feel like I need encouraging to sleep on my side as I always wake up on my back! Really don’t want to spend loads on it though

katherine123x · 04/04/2023 08:43

Hi @VanillaOat I've just bought the baby bub one as didn't want a massive 12ft pillow!

BeaKind · 04/04/2023 08:48

Omg had a mad dream last night that an ex work colleague outed me on mumsnet 😂 and told everyone my real name. I was horrified and tried to frantically delete all my messages 🤣

LR94 · 04/04/2023 08:51

@VanillaOat i’m trying to find a good one as my back ache is horrendous in the night, i think I would prefer a 12ft one so it can support my back and belly but i’m dreading the thought of it in the summer haha

VanillaOat · 04/04/2023 09:14

@LR94 @katherine123x I’m thinking of ordering one off Amazon! I’ve seen them on there for under £20 but just hope they’re good quality!

Needtobuildabridge · 04/04/2023 09:23

@katherine123x @VanillaOat I've ordered a Bub, I'm hoping it will force me to sleep on my side- I'll update when it arrives 😊

VictoriaBlossom · 04/04/2023 09:26

@BeaKind 😂😂😂😂 the relief you must have felt when you woke up and realised it was a dream.

I've had some absolutely mental dreams from the moment I fell pregnant.

Assume it's just hormones and wired brain

Chanteuse · 04/04/2023 09:28

@katherine123x @VanillaOat I ordered one off Amazon - it was £16 and it is brilliant 🤩

VanillaOat · 04/04/2023 11:26

@Chanteuse by any chance do you have the link please? 😇

monsteramunch · 04/04/2023 11:35

Feeling quite anxious today.

I'm 12+1 and my sickness has improved loads the last couple of days and my tummy is a bit less massive.

I know intellectually that this is because of hormonal changes at 12 weeks and the fact that I'm not horrifically constipated has improved my bloating.

But my emotional side is now panicking. Still awful headache and THE most painful boobs, which I'm now weirdly grateful to have as a bit of reassurance!

I have my scan on Friday and it feels ages away.
