ladies..i have felt a water infection has been looming for a little while. No burning at all but not emptying bladder properly, some abdominal pain and some leaking straight after going for a wee! Been the docs today and the dip test had traces of something (cant remember the word) but i had to do a second sample and no trace. Doc was unsure and gave me antibiotics but said only start them over the weekend if symptoms persist.
Im tempted to just start them now, surely it would be safer to take them when not needed than leave a uti untreated? or am i over reacting? Any advice appreciated

@Itsokaymama i was exactly the same a just before Easter bank hol. They gave me pregnancy safe antibiotics for a week and advised starting them due to my symptoms rather than wait over the weekend for my urine sample to come back. When the sample come back it had abnormal levels of bacteria in.. not yet an infection but the doc called and said finish the course of meds anyway and take another sample in once finished. Which was yesterday. I haven’t had a uti or similar in absolutely years x

Antibiotics kill good bacteria too, not a good idea to take them if there is no reason too. I personally would avoid taking them, especially when pregnant, unless I have symptoms. I would wait to see if symptoms come back. I would start immediately if symptoms came back. I didn't think that waiting 1-2 days to check symptoms will make things worse. But I am not a doctor!

@Mldn thanks for replying! I feel that’s probably gonna be my result too, not a full blown infection but something is definitely not right!
@Alexandra07 thank you, thats interesting to know. The symptoms dont seem to be any better today so going to start!

@Itsokaymama thats what I’d do. Not being able to empty my bladder was painful enough with the other pressures going on! I was prescribed nitrofurantoin - only thing to note was they make you urine very murky & dark… freaked me out but a common side effect x

Is anyone freezing all the time ? 🥶

I'm freezing all the time. And when I've gone for a wee and touched my legs they feel very cold. It seems abit weird as on the whole I think we are supposed to feel warmer when pregnant.

Anyone dealing with increased amount of discharge? Sorry for tmi, just today seems to be so much more than usual. Hopefully it’s normal 🥴

Waiting for treatment for my thyroid as it turns out I've got super duper hyperthyroidism but they can't seem to agree which meds to put me on. Should start next week hopefully.

So in the meantime it's hot sweats for me, argh!

@NSx - 100% cold all the time. I often wear two layers of heattech base layers and my colleagues are in jeans and a t-shirt. The water temperature in our house went from feeling right for a shower on the hottest temperature to feeling chilly. I asked my husband to do something about it and he suggested that in light of the fact that the heat settings had not changed, perhaps I had changed?

@Summer022 yes @katherine123x and me were posting about this upthread... I looked it up and NHS says normal. It's gross though 😂

oh thank goodness! Glad I’m not the only one… I am worried it’s an infection or something as have a slight aching sensation ‘down there’ plus the discharge, unless it’s just another normal weird pregnancy symptom. So stressful 🤣

@Summer022 @OrionNebula check with gp yesterday when going for something else. She said totally normal.

Has anyone had their 20 week scan appointment through yet?

I got given a date at my 12 week scan on Wednesday, but had a letter come through today with a consultant appointment straight after it and not sure if that's standard. Can't find it on any of my lists of appointments the midwife gave, but I'm low risk so wasn't expecting anything additional

@katherine123x same! I tried on my mom jeans yesterday and ironically they don’t fit 😭 to be honest I’m living in dresses as my pants hardly fit!
