@CL05071998 Do you have a maternity hospital near? They should have a 24 hour A&E section rather than going to a normal hospital. They can be quicker, hope you’re doing okay today x

CL05071998 · 31/03/2023 07:58

@iloveeggs no my maternity hospital and EPU are in the general hospital, so if I go to A&E it will be the main one and waiting hours are crazy. There is a private ultrasound clinic near me who open Saturdays so fingers crossed I get an appointment tomorrow afternoon. Bleeding hasn't got worse over night and no cramps so just trying to hope that's a good sign x

Ss32 · 31/03/2023 09:03

Argh I had my scan booked for this morning and they’ve called to cancel as the sonographer is ill. I’m 14 weeks tomorrow so they’re ringing around our local hospitals to see if anyone else can get me in!

iloveeggs · 31/03/2023 09:23

@CL05071998 Fingers crossed for you hun!

Saturnsmoon · 31/03/2023 09:27

@Ss32 how frustrating! Hope they manage to fit you in somewhere soon.

BeaKind · 31/03/2023 10:14

@CL05071998 ooh I so feel for you. Glad you’re bleeding hasn’t got any worse and no cramps. Hopefully that is a good sign. 🙏

@Ss32 That is so annoying! Hope they get you in somewhere soon!

How are you ladies with toddlers coping tiredness wise? I’m absolutely dead after lunch (which is after his nap) and find myself falling asleep on him in the afternoon with the TV on 😅 I hate plonking him in front of the tv but have zero energy for anything else! 🥱

SillyOldBear3 · 31/03/2023 10:48

I've had a horrible migraine since last night 😞 no sleep as I couldn't lie down without the pain being worse. My neck is also sore and really tense.. anyone else suffering with headaches? Pre pregnancy I often got them, then for the first 10 weeks I had none! And now they're back 😩 (I'm 11 weeks). My skin has also been really clear all pregnancy and suddenly I'm breaking out.. could it be drop in hormones as placenta takes over? xx

Seekingadviceplz · 31/03/2023 11:10

For anyone based in Ireland (specifically Dublin), have you had you scan or booking appt yet? My scan is not until 15 weeks and my booking appt 19 wks!!!! So 19 weeks will be my first visit with anyone about my pregnancy (apart from the scan). I had my first baby in the UK so I'm not sure what's normal here. Arent you supposed to have bloods done during first trimester?

LWestYorks · 31/03/2023 11:11

@SillyOldBear3 yes I’ve been having them but my iron is low, did all your bloods come back okay? They’ve put me on iron tablets and they are reducing. I were 12 weeks yesterday !

Also ladies my absolute drink craving is fizzy LUCOZADE please don’t judge 🙈 I need another refreshing drink to swap to as I know it’s not good for me at all. Any ideas?

VanillaOat · 31/03/2023 11:16

Had my scan this morning ladies! They gave me 5 pictures because I was bawling my eyes out with relief! Due 7th October, so happy 🥰

Hiya, haven't posted on here yet! I'm 10 weeks 2 days - registered with The Coombe 6 weeks ago and heard nothing. My friend was 16 weeks having her booking appointment. Its outrageous! What hospital you going to?

Yes I am also with The Coombe! Beginning to wonder if i should have gone to Holles St instead. I only got my letter earlier this week at 12 weeks with details of scan and booking. Its really bad. Good thing this isnt my first pregnancy and it was planned, a booking appt at 19 weeks seems a bit pointless. Doesnt fill me with hope when it comes to birth and post-natal care. I'm concerned now I wont get a 20 week anomaly scan either. In the UK they checked the risk of my baby have DS, Edwards, and Patau's syndrome. Do you know if they do the same here?
Anyway I've booked a private scan for next week, cant come soon enough now!

SillyOldBear3 · 31/03/2023 11:50

@LWestYorks oh that's a point, I haven't had any bloods taken yet (they do them at the 12 week scan here) although I do eat red meat and haven't suffered with low iron before. My scan is next week, though I might start taking some iron supplements just in case. Have you had headaches all the way through or just recently?

As far as I have heard, all the hospitals are the same. Staffing issues! No I don't believe those tests are standard here, at least they weren't two years ago on my first.

VictoriaBlossom · 31/03/2023 11:59

@SillyOldBear3 I would just be careful with iron because I'm pretty sure it can make you constipated- so if you're struggling with digestion (I am) watch your supplement intake.

Taking iron is really good for brain health in the baby though, there's a high volume of iron in my supplements (pregnaplan)

Yes i heard the same about staffing.... I'm thinking of enquiring about homebirth. Not sure if it will be too late to start talking about that when i'm halfway through though!

monsteramunch · 31/03/2023 12:02

Is anyone else really struggling with constipation? It's so painful and frustrating!

11+4 today and very glad it's Friday!

blebbleb · 31/03/2023 12:07

@monsteramunch me! I eat a healthy diet but still struggling. I've been taking 15ml of Lactulose morning and evening and that's been helping a bit. I made the mistake of taking 45ml in my last pregnancy!

My little one is 2 and it’s been a struggle! Especially by teatime when we’re both exhausted, she doesn’t nap either so I don’t really get any downtime, it’s hard work and there has been far too much tv time! 🙈

Saturnsmoon · 31/03/2023 12:25

Congratulations on the lovely scan @VanillaOat my dd is also Oct. 7th so we’re due date buddies 😊

VanillaOat · 31/03/2023 12:51

@Saturnsmoon oh really that’s amazing that we are the same! It all feels so really now xxx

BeaKind · 31/03/2023 13:00

Aw lovely scan photos @VanillaOat

@Ss32 ah thank goodness I’m not the only one. I do cherish the hour mine naps and should probably nap myself but like doing ‘me things’ in that time like going to the loo on my own 🤣

I’ve got my scan on Monday. I’ll only be 10+1 but they’ve gone by me LMP 🤷‍♀️ can’t lie I’m not mad it’s early as I’ve not had a scan yet and feeling really impatient now!

I can’t believe how long you ladies in Ireland have to wait to see anyone! 19 weeks is halfway through! 😱

NSx · 31/03/2023 13:39

Bit premature but has anyone found themselves looking at prams? Or is it just me 😂😂😂😂

Also yes to constipation 😵‍💫 I had a horrendous time of it on Sunday where I literally thought I was going to die (I’m not dramatic honestly) the problem is the thought of lactulose makes me feel 🤢 so I don’t know what to do really ☹️

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 31/03/2023 13:40

@NSx we have got a pram! It has been given to us by a family member, it looks brand new and they wouldn't take any money for it. It's currently sat in what will be the baby's bedroom

kingfisher168 · 31/03/2023 13:54

I'd suggest Psyllium Husks for constipation. If you take them regularly and drink plenty of water with them, it'll make you regular. Can buy them at H&B or wherever really.
