@havanamama I've had visitors and it was really nice however because we're still in hospital they had to adhere to visiting times so wernt here too long. Don't think I'd have wanted them here in the 1st week, I was definitely emotional and needed time to adjust.

Room4onemore · 26/02/2023 17:44

Typically baby has turned breech again

Noooooooo!!!

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 26/02/2023 19:07

@Cats23 mine is back to back too and my backache is insane 😭

Visitors can be tough, especially when you're comfortable with your family but maybe not so with the in laws 🤣 my biggest tip is, don't be polite...it's not about them, and in fairness the baby couldn't care less who visits or when, so put yourself first. I wouldn't invite anyone round that I wasn't comfortable saying 'ive had enough now' to, or that wouldn't be happy being told to help themselves to drinks rather than us making them

Thirdtimesacharm3 · 26/02/2023 19:14

Saltandpepperr · 26/02/2023 13:23

@Franklin321 it hurts for about 5 seconds like intense pain and then it eases off but not completely it's just uncomfortable. I just pumped managed to get just under an ounce not sure that's any good he's 2 days old so have no idea what they drink at this stage just been feeding whenever he's been looking for it. It felt the same to pump I've just put some nipple pads in the freezer 😅

@Saltandpepperr it does get easier over time (I breast fed my first two for about a year each but really struggled at the start with my oldest)
make sure you have some form of nipple relief - Lansinoh/silver nips covers etc. if it doesn’t get better I’d also recommend getting your baby checked for tongue tie - (mine had a posterior tongue tie that got snipped at 13 days and made a world of difference) I also used nipple shields for a bit when things got really bad!! Getting an ounce pumping is a lot at this stage as your full milk won’t be in until day 4-5 and even then it takes time to increase production.

Room4onemore · 26/02/2023 19:16

Ok do I have an ecv or go straight for the section?

Moonicorn · 26/02/2023 19:21

I would try ECV if you’re happy to do it - worth a go surely? It’s ‘uncomfortable’ apparently but surgery sounds like a bigger deal!

Blocklynn · 26/02/2023 19:29

@GreenIsle and @JTB123 congratulations! 🥰

ChristmasJumpers · 26/02/2023 19:30

Room4onemore · 26/02/2023 19:16

Ok do I have an ecv or go straight for the section?

I'm opting for straight to c section. ECV really doesn't appeal to me due to the discomfort and low success rate. I have an anterior placenta though which makes it harder to do

Room4onemore · 26/02/2023 19:36

@ChristmasJumpers my placenta is anterior as well but they never said anything about that. Im swinging towards a section as the 50% rate and things that could happen to make me need an emergency section don’t really appeal to me. I have to ring in the morning and go in anyway as only a couple of doctors can do it so they booked me in but if I go for a section then I still have to see him to make a plan

ChristmasJumpers · 26/02/2023 19:39

@Room4onemore nor did mine actually, I think I saw that online so it might not be 100% correct! My midwife did say the chances aren't great though and the reassurance of constant monitoring throughout freaked me out as it just confirmed that it can be quite stressful to baby

Dreamingof3 · 26/02/2023 19:50

@Room4onemore I'd have a talk through it when you're thete. I'd have opted for a section personally, due to the low success rate but I've also had previous sections so I think that makes it a bit risky for me

Room4onemore · 26/02/2023 19:53

@Dreamingof3 i need to go tomorrow either way so if I go for the section he can make a plan with me tomorrow

TeddyBeans · 26/02/2023 19:56

@Room4onemore I'd probably go straight for the section too. Would much rather a chilled, planned c-section to an emergency cuz the waters broke while they were trying to do the turn. When they thought DS was breech and I briefly had to think about what I would do, I decided I'd go for the section for that reason alone

OP posts:
beatingheartbaby · 26/02/2023 20:08

@Room4onemore we were in a similar position but my waters broke the day before my consultant appointment to discuss so the ecv option was taken away but we had decided due to low success rate to go for the section anyway. It's not been too bad recovery wise, not saying it's easy but mostly manageable

Room4onemore · 26/02/2023 20:49

I am swinging towards a section, hope he can give me dates tomorrow so I know

Cats23 · 27/02/2023 00:32

I have a friend who's been given option of csect or ECV...
I told her right away I'd of csect.

I have a diff reason for this though and whilst it seems unlikely, it has always played on my mind- A friend of mine is convinced the ECV she had 15yrs ago is the main cause of her sons disability - He has Cerebral Palsy but she believes the CP was made worse by turning him.
I dont wish to scaremonger anyone, thats not my intention at all, Its just always played back of my mind.

MoronikaFaceache · 27/02/2023 01:00

Congratulations @GreenIsle and @JTB123!

@JB2021 I would recommend Bravado Bodysilk nursing bras: nothing fancy but super comfy and nice colours, lived in them even after finished with bf-ing for 23months!

@Saltandpepperr second getting check for tongue tie as per @Thirdtimesacharm3 suggestion - my sis’ DS had terrible trouble with latch despite best efforts, after discovering it was tongue tie and subsequent snip, went much better..though she didn’t stick with it for long after that for other reasons..

TeddyBeans · 27/02/2023 07:08

D-Day for me, induction booked for 10pm tonight! Still taking bets on whether she'll be a Feb or March baby!

New thread btw! 😊

Hope all goes well tonight @TeddyBeans seems like a very late induction time doesn't it 😬 I keep getting period type cramps this morning 😬

TeddyBeans · 27/02/2023 09:23

@allthingssparkly I don't know for sure but I think it's because they don't expect much to happen in the first few hours 🤷‍♀️ hopefully your cramps progress into contractions!! 🤞🤞

OP posts:
allthingssparkly · 27/02/2023 09:34

Ahh quite possibly @TeddyBeans mine is booked for tomorrow but I've got to call at 9am on the day to find out what time they want me to go in 😬

Knowing my luck these progress into contractions on the day I could do without that happening as I have errands to run and my son has a dentist appointment this afternoon 🙈

Saltandpepperr · 27/02/2023 10:19

@Dreamingof3 @Cats23 I had a back to back labour. I know my labout wasn't very long but it was very very intense because of that. I will say though that i expected the back pain to be a lot worse than it was I think people over scared me. The back pain was a constant ache but there was relief between contractions.

Day 3 and the milk has come in oh wow the pain! I have a whole selection of clothes that don't fit him because he was bigger can't believe I birthed a 8.4lb baby I'm only tiny myself.

Perexi · 27/02/2023 11:35

Good luck @TeddyBeans who would have thought when you packed your hospital bag you would be waiting to be induced, fingers crossed for some water birth action later! Good luck to anyone being induced/in labour, so excited for you!

We had a last big catch up with family and friends yesterday, now to relax because I am shattered 😂

TeddyBeans · 27/02/2023 11:47

@Perexi honestly I never expected to go over 🤣 I feel like I overreacted massively packing my bags so early. I'm gonna kind of insist on going in the water, even if it's only for half an hour at a time so she can get monitored regularly if she needs it. I felt like I just had to accept what the midwife said last time but feeling a bit more confident in advocating for myself this time. Won't do anything to put little miss in danger but I need to think about me too and the bath definitely helped last time when I was allowed in it.

Rest up lovely lady! You've earned all the relaxation time. I thoroughly recommend a pregnancy massage if you haven't had one already ❤️
