Random one, I'm a FTM and thought we had things sorted until my mum as if we'd got sheets for the pram

We'd not even thought of that! Are they needed?! She did suggest we just use a pillow case

In our pram bassinet you can't even put a sheet on as the mattress doesn't detach.

I don't think there are sheets for it, but also baby would lay on it with clothes etc

Franklin321 · 26/02/2023 01:55

@JB2021 I put a Moses basket sheet on ours or a pillow case would work just as well tucked in around

Blondewave · 26/02/2023 03:55

Franklin321 · 25/02/2023 21:33

@Blondewave a whole week! That’s awful! I’ve got my section booked for Wednesday and hoping it’s stuck to as I’m on daily monitoring (which is necessary but a faff to organise childcare) and I couldn’t bare it if they pushed me back 😖 hope yours comes around quickly and smoothly!

I think you’ll be ok if on daily monitoring. I was having my c section slightly early due to tailing off growth. So really I just want him out. However they told me they had multiple complex life / death situations needing c sections this next week which meant people slightly less risky being pushed back. It’s crazy really as these small actions have such an impact. I’m on high alert tho and the smallest inkling I get that baby isn’t ok or is moving less I’m going straight in 😳🙄 x

My mum did this to me! I googled and couldn't see any such thing for what we bought and it mattress has a washable cover and is all soft for them so we figured it wasn't meant to? Surely they would be cashing in and selling it as an accessory if so?

JB2021 · 26/02/2023 07:10

@Perexi @Franklin321 @havananana thanks all. Will check the bassinet out but thinking pillow case will do as we have abundance of those!

Franklin321 · 26/02/2023 07:16

@Blondewave oh yeh I understand them having to prioritise but it’s awful being the one pushed back! Definitely go straight in if any worries…mine went from not feeling normal to scan, daily monitoring, steroid injections and section brought forward. Trust your mum instinct! I feel for you ❤️

havananana · 26/02/2023 07:26

Morning!

We out the crop up yesterday and I just woke up and looked at it,
It's so cute 🥰 can't wait to have our baby there ❤️

TeddyBeans · 26/02/2023 07:38

@JB2021 I used a pillowcase last time but a muslin works just as well 😊

@TeddyBeans thank you

GreenIsle · 26/02/2023 08:20

Baby girl born this morning weighing 6lb 12oz at 38+5. Labour was 4 hours long and was 9cm when I came in, so glad it's done now.

Super hungry waiting on breakfast.

Dreamingof3 · 26/02/2023 08:27

Wow amazing @GreenIsle congratulations

Moonicorn · 26/02/2023 08:37

Congrats Greenisle!! 💖

Moonicorn · 26/02/2023 08:38

Pillow case is fine, or a large Muslim if you tuck the edges under. That’s actually a good crib hack as well - if you tuck a muslin in under the head so if they’re sick, you can just remove the muslin and not the entire sheet.

TeddyBeans · 26/02/2023 08:48

@GreenIsle congratulations! Nice quick labour for you there, hope you get your tea and toast soon!

Congratulations @GreenIsle xx

ive got a really large Aiden and anais muslin blanket which I’m thinking of using in the pram, all my others had Moses basket sheets in

JTB123 · 26/02/2023 10:00

Hey ladies!

Sorry I've been a bit busy! Waters were broken on Friday 8.30pm after waiting all day to be sent to Labour ward for it (after the balloon foley came out) - was put on the drip and wow can I tell you... those contractions are 100x stronger then when I went into Labour naturally, they were back to back and thick and fast! - I was reallllly struggling with them, and I'm no pussy cat! 🤣

Epidural requested asap, that went in and I still needed gas and air for the contractions that were coming! But it got rid of 80% of the harshness!!

Baby Polly arrived after 5 mins of pushing, weighing in at 8lbs 1oz. (My 1st was 6lbs 12oz)

No stitches required and I learnt a hard lesson last time that I needed to drink, drink, drinkkkkkk after the birth continuously and my wee is now so diluted, it doesn't sting at all and is making the healing process 100% more comfortable this time around. Any FTMs - take this as my only tip for you!!

Xx

JTB123 · 26/02/2023 10:01

She was born at 1.44am yesterday I meant to add!! X

iratepirate · 26/02/2023 10:05

congratulations @GreenIsle and @JTB123 !

Moonicorn · 26/02/2023 10:07

So many babies! Welcome baby Polly ❤️

Saltandpepperr · 26/02/2023 10:35

Congratulations @JB2021 & @GreenIsle I can't believe all these babies have been born and it's not even March. I'm struggling with the breastfeeding can someone please tell me it gets easier. They have said he is latched fine but it's still so painful.

Dreamingof3 · 26/02/2023 10:47

@Saltandpepperr in my experience if it's painful, then the latch isn't right. Who have you seen? Maybe see if you have a breastfeeding specialist around for a proper evaluation, that's what I did with my last baby, sometimes it's as simple as trying different positions....I hope it gets better for you

Congratulations @JTB123 I love her name

BabyLimey · 26/02/2023 11:05

@GreenIsle congratulations! Did you have any signs before going into labour? Sounds like you did so well at home!

TeddyBeans · 26/02/2023 11:06

@JTB123 aaah congratulations! I feel justified in my explanation to my mum about drip contractions now you've confirmed they were more intense for you too. 5 minutes of pushing though, that's impressive - and Polly is a lovely name!! ❤️ Hope you're enjoying newborn snuggles right now!

@GreenIsle congratulations! Did you have any signs before going into labour? Sounds like you did so well at home!

I had some pains on and off all day yesterday then they stopped completely, then just at 1am this morning proper cramps kicked on and I immediately started to get my show which is the bleeding that happens when your cervix starts to dilate so I knew this was it.

I didn't realise how many cm I was so when they said 9 I was a bit shocked myself. Going home now baby all well and I didn't need stitches.
