I'm curious! I've only just come across this term!
What did your partner/husband give you if anything? And for which number baby?

I'm pregnant with my first and our midwife mentioned it in our NCT class, specifically an eternity ring! Apparently it's quite common..? I fit in the 'millennial generation' and apparently have been living under a rock 😂

A healthy baby

AWholeNewWorls · 04/02/2023 09:49

And did you ask for the present or did you partner surprise you with it?

And also if you don't mind sharing, how old are you? Trying to figure out if it's a new tradition or one from a previous generation.

Our babies.

My baby.

Art. I got great art. It hangs on our walls and the plan is to pass it on to the kids when they move out.

AWholeNewWorls · 04/02/2023 09:51

For those saying healthy babies.. I am vigorously nodding my head in agreement! I did wonder if the midwife was joking!

KFC. And what a KFC it was after a 12 hour labour.

grayhairdontcare · 04/02/2023 09:52

I think a push present is all kinds of tacky and wrong.

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 04/02/2023 09:52

My children are 10 and 8. It was a newish thing when they were born but not well know. I didn't get (or ask for) anything.
My friends eldest is 4 and she got something for her 3 babies.
My sister has a 10 month old and got nothing.

Emmamoo89 · 04/02/2023 09:52

Omg is it wrong I want one at 10am on a Saturday morning!?

My eldest is 17 and I can confirm this was a thing then.
To me, it seems very tacky. The baby is more than reward enough.

seething1234 · 04/02/2023 09:54

.... OH's vasectomy

BettyBoo123456 · 04/02/2023 09:56

My baby.

Nothing from husband but I had gestational diabetes so lots of friends and family members brought me all the sugary treats I couldn’t have in pregnancy!

We were pretty poor when DD was born so needed all our money for bills and food

Johnnysgirl · 04/02/2023 09:57

Never crossed either of our minds that I deserved a present. Tacky as fuck.

fairgame84 · 04/02/2023 10:01

I don't know anyone who had a push present. I thought it was just a reality TV/Instagram thing.
I don't get why you would need a push present.
DH's best gift to me was the use of his hand to squeeze during contractions, although I don't think the feeling was mutual.

Aren’t you hard 🙄 on a ‘just for fun’ thread

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/02/2023 10:03

Just the babies here, but my wedding ring is the eternity ring my Nan was given by my Grandad when my Dad was born. I doubt it was termed a push present but it was definitely a gift for having a child.

MusicWithRocksIn · 04/02/2023 10:03

A baby!
I've only hearf of a push present on MN, none of my friends have had one that I know of. I'd have thought most people are trying to be quite thrifty to cover mat leave etc. The term itself is horrible, really makes me cringe.

louise5754 · 04/02/2023 10:05

I didn't get / ask / think about any present both times

Photosymphysis · 04/02/2023 10:06

A Brie and grape baguette ☺️ oh it was glorious!

Oh my goodness. The stuff of my dreams! I have GD and have been adding to a list of things I see but can't eat! Although, I've been advised to continue eating as I am now once DC is born 💔

Not a thing in our family, but we didn't have a "gender" reveal or baby shower either. Not my cup of tea.

I did however get presented with a block of blue goats cheese as part of a picnic lunch while I was stuck on postnatal with DD1. THAT was the best thing ever! Mid to late 30s if that helps.
