Sorry for being silly but what app are you guys talking about?

Amme18 · 25/01/2023 19:46

@Rizzo80 some trusts use apps instead of paper notes! Not all though x

AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 19:47

Lovely news @Alpacabag22 ! I was a bit like in my last pregnancy when I saw the scan image of a baby for the first time too. It had seemed hard to really believe until that point.

@LBF2020 if I'm quite honest I would have told you prior to the scan that I couldn't! I'm also not entirely sure I believe it as my gut said girl Grin
One of the sonographers at work used to regularly tell patients at 12 weeks if they asked her and I dreaded doing the anomaly scans after her, her success rate was not that good! I'd still suggest that you won't see it on every baby, and there's a good reason the clinics do it at 16 weeks! I think up until about 11 weeks everything looks the same, and then over time it becomes a bit clearer.

AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 19:49

@Firsttimemomma1 What a great pic! You must be so pleased.

Narwhal88 · 25/01/2023 19:52

@somuchtolearnabout @Firsttimemomma1 I'm on the Zita West pregnancy plan. My nutritionist recommended them. I was also on her ubiquinol as well in prep for my ivf cycle that made this baby.

BMK · 25/01/2023 19:52

Also does anybody know whether -when they assess the size at 12 week scan -the size is indicative of how long since conception or just bigger than average since LMP date? I'm trying to figure if it's an exact science leading to more accurate EDD or not ? Has anyone any experience?
Previously they went off my LMP as I didn't have a scan until much later so I have no experience of this.

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 19:53

@AnnieApple123 thrilled and feeling like I’m enjoying pregnancy a little now.

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 19:54

@Narwhal88 so glad it worked for you too! It’s a brilliant formula!

overwork · 25/01/2023 19:55

@BMK it depends on the Trust. Some will re-date a pregnancy based on the CRL measurement at the 12 week scan, others will only if it changes the EDD by more than so many days.

sprollie11 · 25/01/2023 19:56

LBF2020 · 25/01/2023 19:19

@sprollie11 Glad your scan went well. I think someone mentioned in one of the last threads that sonographers sometimes use a default sex when discussing peoples babies. So all babies would be a 'he'. Our sonographer also said he, but I haven't read anything it to it (maybe I should though 🤣)

Thank you! Ok that makes sense, im not going to read anything into it!!

AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 19:57

Sorry your appointment wasn’t more straightforward @unluckyinlife . That all sounds quite stressful, especially the difficulty getting blood. xx

OP posts:
overwork · 25/01/2023 20:02

As for working out how long since conception using EDD, I'm evidently not clever enough to work it out as so far I've only managed to establish that my date means that we conceived when my partner was out of the country! I was hoping it would give me some clarity as we weren't trying to get pregnant and didn't have sex in my supposedly fertile period. But I guess I'll never know

unluckyinlife · 25/01/2023 20:04

@sally16 the scan isn't in the app yet but they said scan letters always go out by post first so I imagine I'll get that soon. 😁

@Rizzo80 my trust uses both traditional blue notes and online NHS app I think referred to as patient access. Some of my bloods results are already on there from today.

Now off to DR Google to find out what high neutrophilis means, as apparently mine is out of the top range..

@AnnieApple123 thank you, I kind of expected the difficulty getting blood but hoped it wasn't the case. The pregnancy is starting to real more real now, which is weird as all that's changed is a book of blue notes xxx

Ah congrats! You’re the first IVF mama that I’ve heard in this group, but I did miss the entire last thread so I may be behind. My sister is currently pregnant via IVF with a little girl - she knew from day dot that it was a girl as they chose to find out the gender of the embryo’s before transfer. She’s not in the UK though so I’ve no idea if that happens here or not. Do you already know the sex if you don’t mind be being (incredibly) nosy?

TattyTil · 25/01/2023 20:12

@VickiGo I had rhinitis with my first, lasted the whole of the first trimester for me. Fingers crossed it disappears for you soon as it's so annoying!

AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 20:14

I’m afraid I’m really not a fan of Zita West. I used to go to her clinic and was treated very badly even after making a formal complaint. She personally is a real egomaniac, very influenced by sleb culture and all about the fancy packaging. The different products for different trimesters are just a marketing gimmick. I have done omega testing whilst taking her DHA and the results were fairly mediocre. Bare Biology products are a lot better. Sorry to be blunt.

OP posts:
Amme18 · 25/01/2023 20:14

@somuchtolearnabout its illegal here! Unethical. I went to an IVF clinic when it was at college as part of an assignment and remember that! Also was telling us they have the skills to use a woman’s egg but replace the nucleus (so the DNA part) with someone else’s so the egg isn’t actually genetically linked anymore to the owner…but that techincally it makes 3 parents so they can’t do it! Although might have changed since 7 years ago 😅

AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 20:18

@somuchtolearnabout no not legal here. Although my friend in San Francisco got her embryos tested and all five turned out to be the same sex anyway.

OP posts:
somuchtolearnabout · 25/01/2023 20:27

@AnnieApple123 No need to apologise for being blunt! It’s good to get lots of differing opinions. Can’t say I even knew Zita West was a person though 😂 but the supplements do seem to agree with me so I’m happy to keep taking them for now.

Also my sister is in the UAE and they tested the embryos to see which was the strongest (for want of a more articulate word?!) and turned out they were all girls anyway. She said they’d have just gone with whatever had the best chance of success, but I had no idea it was illegal here! Probably the same reason gender selection is (rightly IMO) illegal here too.

BCxx · 25/01/2023 20:41

So many comments to catch up on so can’t remember who said what to reply 😂

I was also curious about the IVF gender thing as you always see them mention it in other countries but everyone I know here has had a gender reveal and I’ve always thought surely you knew already but clearly not! I’ve been watching making babies with Alex Jones on a Thursday night, it’s at an ivf clinic and it’s so good!

Also the size of a house here at only 10 weeks. At this stage last time there was nothing to see, I wore a baggy jumper yesterday and my sister said she could tell I was pregnant (obviously she knew before that 😂).

Narwhal88 · 25/01/2023 20:46

@somuchtolearnabout I think there are 3 of us IVFers on the thread! Yes it's illegal to find out the sex as others have said. Plus you would need to have done PGA genetic testing which we didn't do, it's not routine in the UK, much more common in the US.

@AnnieApple123 ooh interesting about zita west. I must say I can see her being an egomaniac! I only get the pregnancy vitamin one not separate trimesters though. I think the only difference to pregnacare is that it is the natural form of folate rather than synthetic folic acid. I also take folate on top as well and extra vitamin D.

Narwhal88 · 25/01/2023 20:50

@BCxx I've been watching Making Babies too and I just cry the entire way through 😂😂 obviously very raw for me though plus hormones.

Amme18 · 25/01/2023 20:58

I’ve been watching the one with Emma Willis being a midwife 🤣 already watched my way through one born. Haven’t heard of making babies!

Miraclesdohappen88 · 25/01/2023 21:12

I'm a proud IVF mama to be too 🤚.

Absolutely loving all the baby related programmes on at the min. The Alex Jones documentary is brilliant but also brings back a lot of raw emotion after many failed attempts.
Anyone watching Belfast Midwives on a Tuesday night?
