Good morning. Does anyone mind to tell me which vitamins you're moving onto now we're coming out of the 1st trimester? I'd really rather not continue spending £30 a pack if we can drop down onto something cheaper now! I've popped on my pics from my second NIPT attempt yesterday. None of this feels real still, even when I'm looking at it twirling about on the screen. I thought looking at the pics might help but nope - it still feels like it's someone else's!

@ChloeN I think they are scanning you at 15 weeks so that you can have a quad test done? Which is a screening test, but only for Down's syndrome, not Edwards and Pataus. It's just a blood test.
One thing I would say, is that nuchal testing is pointless if the measurements aren't accurate, I think your sonographer did the right thing! I know the poor fella doing my scan busted a gut trying to get them, but they weren't great, so I'm pleased I'm having NIPT too (but I was particularly keen on having these tests - I have my reasons!)

@overwork yeah they are and then she said they’ll check for the other 2 at the 20 week scan so I’m not missing out just later! I was getting a bit stressed thinking it only would happen to me but she said it happens regularly so that made me feel better 🤣

@overwork my midwife told me to just buy the cheapest as they all have the same! So I checked boots vs pregnacare and right enough we're exactly the same on the back 😅

Amme18 · 25/01/2023 11:42

I just bought 3 months worth of pregnacare again but was on 3 for 2…other half’s eyes watered a bit 😅

@overwork I get Pregnacare from Amazon, it’s £9.55 at the minute for a pack of 90 :)

BCxx · 25/01/2023 12:45

@overwork im on the max pregnacare one but I’m a vegetarian and don’t eat the healthiest food. I stayed on them all the way through last time so think I’ll do the same again. Im going to do subscribe and save on Amazon or see if I can buy them in bulk though

I take generic vitamins given out by NHS in Scotland to all pregnant women (folic acid, vit C and D) and Floradix in addition to that.

AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 12:55

Thats frustrating @ChloeN . Your age does make you very low risk though as you say.

Lovely pic @overwork . I take Cytoplan Pregna-Plan prenatals. I’ve continued to take them all through breastfeeding DS so haven’t had a break since summer 2018!

Talking of Floradix, I’m still really struggling to remember to take it 30 mins before meals. I’m going to switch to an alternative iron supplement once the current bottle of finished I think.

@AnnieApple123 I don't remember either, I just take it whenever 🙈

Report
AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 13:09

@UsernameNotPresent I’m just a bit nervous as my iron levels dropped a lot during my last pregnancy. My next test is a week on Monday though so we’ll see what it’s doing.

That's me signed off 😵‍💫
Wasn't as bad as I thought when I went in with my line so I feel alot better!

And got a perinatal mental health appointment through for the 31st.. the day before my scan 😅 which I'm happy about as my gp said they sometimes just spring up during 12 week appointments and it's a bit too much info at once!

sally16 · 25/01/2023 13:34

@UsernameNotPresent did you get the pregnancy tablets free! They told me they stopped it! They were so tiny and easy to take aswell!

Hello ladies,

I'm 42 FTM, I'm 10weeks 3 days and I have my booking appointment on 30th Jan, I'm counting down the days.
I'm only taking boots folic acid with vitamin D, should I be taking pregnacare as well

This is all so new to me...

sally16 · 25/01/2023 13:43

@Rizzo80 welcome!!
I'm not sure on the exact ones but was told that pregancare has everything we need (with additional folic acid) but I found boots own had the same doses so went cheap 😂

Holy cr@p. THREAD 6? I missed an entire thread! Anyway sorry I’ve been away a while, trying not to be on my phone so much these days.

@AnnieApple123 please can you add me my due date is 9th August

Also weird thing happened at a scan the other day, sonographer is adamant the baby has a girl nun despite the sneak peek saying it’s a boy. I still think it’s a boy though and think the nub theory is total guesswork, but guess I’ll find out in a few weeks at the gender scan. I know the sneak peek is notoriously unreliable (not if it gives a girl reading though, apparently that’s reliable) but false boy results are rife. Anyway that’s my anecdote of the day, hope everyone’s ok and I haven’t missed anything too exciting!

@sally16 yep, got them free at my booking appointment from midwife (4 bottles). They are very easy to take, I agree. Glad all went well with a sick line!
@Rizzo80 welcome to the group ☺️

@UsernameNotPresent aw our surgery doesn't get it anymore! Mum said she went hunting and since covid they haven't had any delivered 😭
I'll be asking the hosp on Wednesday for some 🤣

@Rizzo80 I just took folic acid and vitamin d up until last week (12 weeks) I took that when ttc so thought I’d just carry on!

Report
overwork · 25/01/2023 14:26

Oooh @somuchtolearnabout - I don't think the sonographer would have been using nub theory, they'd have been looking between the legs. I rarely commented at 12 weeks though as it just wasn't generally clear enough (having said that I could see on my own scan yesterday even though I didn't particularly want to know!) Are you going to wait until 20 weeks or have a 16 week scan to find out?
