I’ve got a really nosey beautician and she springs questions on you like ‘do you want another baby?’ etc. She talks about everyone’s business and whether I think such and such will get engaged or have another child. It’s usually fine but I feel like holding this secret in is so hard when you’ve got probing questions coming at you from all angles 🙈 Last time I was there I thought at least she’ll know by the next appointment but it’s ended up being a few days before my scan so she won’t. Would rather keep it a secret from her anyway though until I want the whole world to know 😂 I would love to get to nearer 20 weeks but I’ve got a proper bump today in my leggings at not even 11 weeks so there is no way!

LBF2020 · 26/01/2023 12:52

Thanks @BCxx all done now. It was such an amazing appointment, the gynae and endo saw me together and said they would be sharing my care throughout pregnancy. They really put my mind at rest and I felt like they were taking my conditions seriously. Very grateful to have the NHS right now ❤️

BCxx · 26/01/2023 12:53

Aww that’s great @LBF2020 glad it was worth the wait after all that!

LBF2020 · 26/01/2023 12:55

Argh @BCxx when is your scan? A beautician I go to is also like this. She'll often say oh are you excited about a an event I'm going to. Even though I didn't tell her I was going, so someone j know must have mentioned it to her!

BMK · 26/01/2023 13:39

@Marmaladebear my previous 2 pregnancies I equally continued to.work, socialise and noone knew I was pregnant as I continued as normal with everything; just actually hungrier and had to snooze a bit. However this one has been nothing similar: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain/discomfort; no energy/exhaustion; weird taste in mouth. But now that I'm nearly at 13 weeks it has almost all thankfully gone away. Worst at weeks 7and8 and again, but not as bad at weeks11 and 12.
Given that my first 2 pregnancies were boys I have convinced myself that these symptoms for me must indicate a girl. I am also really hoping that is the case. How many weeks in are you?

Good luck @Sjw30 and anyone else who has scans and thanks @overwork Re the scan measuring info. I was also you as the most self proclaimed non child person ever. So it was the shock of shocks for me to be having a baby (to me also). I haven't entirely changed my view: I'm still not the sort to think they're really adorable and regard lots of them as awful and annoying but I like my own but they can be equally annoying and my patience isn't extensive- so we have an au pair!!*a Godsend and the answer to all problems!

Createcomet · 26/01/2023 13:49

Oh my goodness I've been off here for 2 days and come back to a whole new 6 page long thread 🤣

Congratulations to everyone who's had scans. How is everyone feeling?

I had my booking appointment yesterday. First time I'd been to the hospital since I had my son and it was also after a stressful day of work and dealing with solicitors, so there were a lot of emotions.

I'm going to be consultant led due to previous emergency section, I have to see foetal medicine again at 20 weeks so they can scan babies heart as I was born with heart problems, I've been referred to birth choices and I've been referred for a birth reflection so we can run through what happened last time.

I'm also going to see the same midwife all the way through this time 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 which just feels soooo much better than last time.

So yeah, it was all a bit scary, but also it was really helpful and I feel like perhaps I might actually be looked after this time! Which is positive.

overwork · 26/01/2023 14:06

@BMK an au pair. I hadn't even considered that but it might be a great idea! Having said that, we'd definitely need to move first (currently in a 1 bed, debating whether we can be bothered to try and sell up and move before august or to wait until after it's born)

BCxx · 26/01/2023 14:32

@LBF2020 haha no way 😂 it must be something about the job, I get that you’d have to be chatty etc but I think for some people that can just turn into gossiping all the time. It’s not until feb 9th 😭

Amme18 · 26/01/2023 14:34

Scan all good here too! New date 4th August and a very lazy baby having a snooze 🤣

BCxx · 26/01/2023 14:36

@Createcomet glad your appointment went well and you’re feeling positive! That’s great news that you’ll have the same midwife now. I think I’m consultant led too but don’t really know what that actually means other than I will automatically get an appointment with them about the c-section this time rather than having to hang off until the last second?! They’re going to speak to me at the 12 week scan to go through the possibility of a vbac.. eh no thank you, il save you the time 😂 have my blood tests tomorrow although I’ve had my booking appointment over the phone really so it’s just this to get checked I think. You don’t take urine samples to appointments at this stage do you? I feel like I remember needing to do one for the 12 week scan appointment

BCxx · 26/01/2023 14:36

@Amme18 great news! And even better news on the chilled baby 😂🎉

sally16 · 26/01/2023 14:48

@overwork I moved house a week before having my son.. was actually ok as I went shopping and let everyone else do it ahah! But had work done to the house after he was born and omg it was so stressful trying to get organised with a baby lol!
I'd try to move sooner than later 😂

overwork · 26/01/2023 14:56

@sally16 sage advice! I just feel like I have so much to get my head around with my life going in a direction I never planned, moving house on top seems insurmountable!

sally16 · 26/01/2023 15:16

@overwork we went from never wanting to move to having to get going within a few months, house ended up needed so much work done to maintain it and we just didn't have the time or funds so sold up.. was a good decision in the end! Used a broker and they did everything we just needed to pick a house and sign some papers 🤣 our old house was sold using a for sale sign in the window within 2 days cash so didn't even need to do any of the usual stuff! Very lucky! Pre covid life was so much easier!

Narwhal88 · 26/01/2023 15:32

Had my booking appointment today at 11 weeks. She did bloods, blood pressure, urine sample. She was lovely but said a few times about trying to get me moved to another team that should be closer to my home even though that team referred me to her 😂 so feel a bit unwanted! I guess that's because I've referred out of my local area.
Also got my 12 week scan booked for Tuesday at 11 weeks 5 days.

UsernameNotPresent · 26/01/2023 15:35

Congratulations on all the scans! Great news ☺️

Speaking of moving house, today I found out that the house we are renting will be put on the market, so we need to move in the next 2 months.. So that will be a new job (or unemployment if things really go tits up), a house move, and a new baby. All within a space of 6 months.

Marmaladebear · 26/01/2023 15:40

@BMK glad to hear your sickness is improving! I'm 10+5 and today has been sooo much better than yesterday (when I was sick 4 times and couldn't really move) so I'm hoping that we're turning a corner and I'll have nausea but at least stop being sick so much.

@UsernameNotPresent good luck with everything! I also did a house move while 7 months pregnant (or maybe 8, hard to remember now!) And it all worked out great and I think we're going to move again now we're having another baby. We can do this!!

Marmaladebear · 26/01/2023 15:40

And thank you @AnnieApple123 I really appreciate your kindness!

overwork · 26/01/2023 15:42

That's amazing! Somehow I don't think anyone will be quickly buying our 1 bed flat with no garden so it would probably be a really hard slog and I just don't have the energy right now

CityKity · 26/01/2023 15:44

@UsernameNotPresent @overwork we sold up last year and are in a temporary rental whilst we’ve been house hunting. Baby has definitely made the move a bit more urgent! I don’t love this place at all and am desperate to find ‘the house’ but the market has been so quiet. Hoping for lots of lovely spring houses and crossing everything that the one we find is chain free for a quick move 🤞.

sally16 · 26/01/2023 15:50

@overwork ours only sold fast because it was a corner plot bungalow! My 1 bed flat sold pretty quick though! It was the most useless space ever! So tiny and no storage. Was considering just leaving the door open and letting some squatters crack on 😂

UsernameNotPresent · 26/01/2023 15:54

Ladies, you filled me with hope ☺️ onwards and upward to beautiful new homes to go with our beautiful new babies.

unluckyinlife · 26/01/2023 15:58

It's so reassuring to see we're not the only ones that have no choice but to move before baby is here. We'll be first time buyers, looking to put an offer in March April and pray that we can move before baby is born.

We only moved here early part of last year to care for a family member but the whole situation is toxic and we have zero space .

At first the whole thing made me sick to think about, but I've started to declutter in the hopes that if I can do a lot of the organising now I won't feel so useless when I can't help my husband when the time comes to move.

It looks like we're also moving 3 hours away so not sure what that will mean for my maternity care but I'll worry about that when I sort the house !

unluckyinlife · 26/01/2023 15:59

No idea about the weird spacing on my last comment!

overwork · 26/01/2023 16:12

Oh this is really exciting. I'm as interested in everyone's new houses as I am the pregnancies Grin
