Welcome to @Skullcollector and @EsmeSusanOgg .

@unluckyinlife So glad all went well this morning. Must be such a relief. There’s some debate about exactly when the second trimester begins from what I can see. Some say 12 weeks exactly. Others say not until the start of week 14.

@sally16 I know what you mean. This is a fairly uneventful stage of pregnancy. Other than the 20 week scan I don’t even have any more appointments until 24 weeks. That’s over 7 weeks away.

@AnnieApple123 I'm so relieved and also in disbelief! Do you not have a 16 week appointment?
Or have you had that already?

The midwife who took my blood was not impressed that I wasn't sure if I had one booked. Turns out I do, but with a consultant on the 17th of March x

AnnieApple123 · 20/02/2023 15:43

@unluckyinlife Yes, I’ve had my 16 week appointment.

Just saw the osteopath again. She’s given me permission to exercise now my back is better, so there are no excuses anymore!

Amme18 · 20/02/2023 16:13

@sally16 yes!! I still feel like I’m saying “only” 16 weeks 🤣🤣 and everyone is surprised that I have a bump so I’m like ohhh it’s bloat etc. I’m sure after 20 weeks last time everything as much nicer. I’m worried I’ve got PGP. Didn’t have it
last time but been sooo uncomfortable, had to tap out of patient facing today because I just couldn’t face it which I hate! And feel like I’m being pathetic, I’m usually very “I’m pregnant not poorly” 🤦🏻‍♀️

AnnieApple123 · 20/02/2023 16:48

@Amme18 I was worried about PGP too. Thankfully it’s turned out not to be so far. If it is though, it’s best to get support with it ASAP if you can.

I’m 17 weeks today. 17 suddenly feels like so much more than 16. 16 seems early but at 17 you’re nearly halfway.

ChloeN · 20/02/2023 17:03

@AnnieApple123 I think the same about 17 weeks that sounds so pregnant 🤣

sally16 · 20/02/2023 17:08

A few people at work I presumed knew I was pregnant heard me speaking about a midwife appointment and were like 👀👀👀 j was like I'm 16 weeks nearly! Did I not say? 😂😅

Amme18 · 20/02/2023 17:11

Yes agree 17 weeks feels properly pregnant 🤣 I’m 17 weeks Friday so keep saying I’m “17 weeks this week”

BMK · 20/02/2023 17:59

@Amme18 I'm 17 wks Friday too!

CityKity · 20/02/2023 18:33

17 weeks tomorrow! Which feels crazy far gone. I still haven’t told work soooooo still not talking about it much. I think I need to finally retire my jeans as have been so uncomfortable today!
@sally16 totally know what you mean about this awkward stage. Still have 4 weeks till my 20 week scan, so feel like I’m just ticking along hopefully everything is going okay 🤞!

@unluckyinlife@sally16@Recoba Thanks so much for the holiday inspiration and reassurance! I don’t know why I’m so unsure about Turkey, I did some Googling and only got post from about 10years ago saying that they wouldn’t recommend it as a holiday while pregnant which gave me a wobble. Having never been pregnant before, I just have no idea what 27 weeks feels like and how I’ll need to adapt which is making me feel more anxious than usual about booking a holiday. I’m desperate to go away and get some sun and yummy food so just need to crack on really.

BMK · 20/02/2023 19:15

@CityKity 27 weeks is a bit like now as in in between with nothing really happening except for feeling bigger and I think not able to eat as much due to feeling fuller quicker due to baby growing and pressing on everything ; however I can't quite remember exactly but you should be fine as long as there's a hospital just in case
But the chances of anything happening are I'm guessing tiny like 1-2% but could be wrong, ask midwife if wondering what risk is. But it's just more uncomfortable due to size as gets nearer end but 27 weeks shouldn't be too bad- you heard the other ladies who had a great holiday at that stage and.were out and about. Also as it's your first you'll be smaller than one who is on no 2 or 3.etc. I was a bit amazed your jeans still fit! I'm actually going to try mine on!*whereas they might close it's more the new muffin top /splurge across their top that would render them a no go I imagine and is likely why I haven't worn jeans or anything like in about 4 weeks!

AnnieApple123 · 20/02/2023 19:33

Re: jeans. I’m at that awkward stage now where regular ones don’t fit but maternity are still too big.

OP posts:
BusyBushBaby · 20/02/2023 19:36

I've finally got enough of a bump to keep maternity jeans up! I'd got so tired of having to wear joggers or leggings everywhere, jeans feel smart by comparison.

On the down side I'm going to have to switch to maternity uniforms at work soon, much earlier than expected. The uniforms are hideous and look like big white tents, only more shapeless.

CityKity · 20/02/2023 19:38

@BMK god who knew pregnancy was so much waiting around in limbo! That message was really reassuring though, thank you! In real life the friends I know who have had kids already were never big travellers to begin with, so I don’t have a lot of people to turn to for advice on travel. My mum also thinks I should basically be bed bound from now to the due date so she’s made me question myself too.
On the other hand I’m desperate to squeeze in as much travel as possible whilst it’s still just the 2 of us!

The jeans are a bit of a cheat to be honest! I used to suffer with IBS flares so have never had been comfortable with anything super tight sitting on my waist/hips so luckily all my jeans are either on the roomier side or have a decent amount of stretch to the waistband. They’ve served me well for 17 weeks but today spent the entire day in the office with a hair tie holding the top of my jeans together (shirt luckily was long enough to cover that), so it’s officially time to hit some Mat wear now!

AnnieApple123 · 20/02/2023 19:48

@BusyBushBaby Yes I know what you mean. Tomorrow we’re going to visit the preschool which is currently first choice for DS and all I have to wear are old pairs of leggings which I feel such a scruff in.

OP posts:
BMK · 20/02/2023 20:13

@CityKity I absolutely think you should go. I think it's just as it gets closer to delivery time thry advise to stay put just in case but definitely: enjoy sun, food, relaxing when you can! No point sitting looking at the same 4walls that you'll be looking at morning noon and throughout the night when baby lands and takes over your life! Mums do that,my Mum is same 'are you sure'!?...'would it not be better to (some other way/day/time etc)! It's not like you're going alone and into the bush! If you're still unsure re going far away just go somewhere with a c 2 hour flight which is the same as the work commute 1 way for.some!

BMK · 20/02/2023 20:19

@AnnieApple123 so glad to hear your back is better! I got reflexology today and a bit of Indian head massage and was so relaxing I fell asleep. I find it hard to stop and do nothing so these things are just amazing to me. I found a yoga teacher for preg yoga but only online which for me isn't much good as it's talking to a screen so not my thing (plus I can't bear seeing myself on the screen!) but I am determined to do some exercise . I started making veg juice in morning again though for for first time in 2 years,so that's a start!! Don't worry re scruffy leggings, just put on something bright somewhere else and it will brighten you and distract!(headband, neon socks over leggings, leg warmers, scarf ,jacket etc!)

AnnieApple123 · 20/02/2023 20:29

@BMK Oh heavens, I wouldn’t want to watch myself on screen doing yoga! The osteopath today showed me some exercises and then asked if I’d like her to make a little video of me doing them so I could remember them (in the tatty old leggings as well). Errr, no thanks!! I’ll just have to try to keep my memory sharp ‘cos that doesn’t appeal at all.

@CityKity My mum also seems to think I should spend nine months just lazing on the sofa. She can’t seem to grasp that that very much isn’t the advice these days and has actually been shown to make you more at risk of complications.

Congratulations to everyone who has had recent scans!

I’m 16 weeks as of yesterday and have felt baby move, it’s quite different to my first pregnancy because dd was like little flutters whereas he feels like he’s right at the front and kicking. Got to admit I was a bit 👀is this normal? 😂 but it keeps happening so it’s definitely baby.

I went swimming today, I used to go upwards of 5 days a week and I’ve had to cut down to just 2 - I’m so physically tired already that I can’t do anymore. Today is the first day that baby decided to press himself right on my bladder halfway through 😂 I didn’t swim at all when I was pregnant with dd so it was new to me.

I need to get some more maternity jeans (I never actually stopped wearing them because they are so comfy) and will probably need some maternity swimming costumes soon. I look very pregnant, I wasn’t showing this well with my first but apparently it’s normal for your second?

sally16 · 21/02/2023 08:22

@BusyBushBaby I need mat uniforms too but i feel like I should wait until 20 weeks 😂 I've no idea why I feel this way but im getting cut in half haha!

sally16 · 21/02/2023 08:27

@CityKity I tell everyone who's pregnant with their first to go holidaying as much as they can while pregnant!
You can't drink and party at the weekend so why not enjoy yourself another way!
Also I personally have zero childcare other than nursery so it was literally our last chance to go away just the two of us and I wanted to have lovely baby moon memories!
You'll find the hospitals abroad are actually very attentive! In Tunisia they had a dr visit my room to check me and give me fluids as I was burnt to a crisp 😂 and too assess my pgp as I was struggling to walk, organised a lymphatic drainage massage on my legs and arms too! I felt like a queen haha! X

overwork · 21/02/2023 08:35

Haha oh everyone who is showing with their second but didn't with their first, what happens when this is your first but you already look like a heifer?!? I need to forget seeing my toes ever again. Though I keep weighing myself (that sounds obsessive but it's more in disbelief), and I've still not put on a single pound since the day I found out. So I'm either really bloated (quite possible as this belly starts from under my boobs and obviously baby is way down in my pelvis!), or, I've lost weight elsewhere which maybe wouldn't be a bad thing.

overwork · 21/02/2023 08:36

I also really want a lovely holiday before baby comes but I'm not sure I've found the right idea yet - I have enjoyed the suggestions!

Mulner88 · 21/02/2023 08:39

@sally16 I'd say I can get one week max out of my tunics!! I'm sitting here wearing one and not able to breathe 😂 I've asked work to get me bigger ones but it could take weeks 😮 so they've given me lovely scrub tops which look like im wearing a big sack in the meantime 🙈

ChloeN · 21/02/2023 08:40

@overwork I guess we’ll be showing from 1 day pregnant next time around🤣🤣
