@somuchtolearnabout - boy. The Dr knew that I didn't want to know and told me to look away at appropriate moments, but I'm pretty sure I can see it on one of the cineloops they sent through afterwards. Wished I hadn't looked at it afterwards but I had no idea it would be visible on there. Couldn't see a thing on my NHS scan though!

overwork · 25/01/2023 14:44

Haha I don't blame you - you must be a bit baffled by it just now!

somuchtolearnabout · 25/01/2023 14:50

Awwww well it’s still vvvvv.early to tell so you never know, although you’re a professional you weren’t studying it for the reasons of establishing gender so you could still be wrong. That’ll teach you for studying the cineloop 😂

I know sweet FA about nubs (is it a load of rubbish??) but when I looked at your scan pic before I did think it was a boy nub. Based on the absolutely zero scientific knowledge I hold of course.

somuchtolearnabout · 25/01/2023 14:50

@overwork keep forgetting to tag!

overwork · 25/01/2023 15:20

I don't know anything about nubs to be honest. They don't teach us that at uni! The obvious thing though is that there are only the 2 options, so if you set yourself up as a nub expert tomorrow and told everyone that they were having a boy, you'd still be correct 50% of the time Grin

AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 15:32

Good to see you back @somuchtolearnabout ! I was wondering where you’d got to on the last thread.

That must have been an odd experience for you @overwork when it’s your job. How annoying that you saw when you didn’t want to. I asked at my 13 week scan on Monday (non-NHS) and the sonographer said she was only 60% certain which seemed fair enough. I don’t think I want to know either anyway.

@AnnieApple123 I have my 12 week dating scan on Friday so will let you know then as was measuring 6 days ahead last week at private scan. 👍 Thanks for the new thread

sally16 · 25/01/2023 15:47

@somuchtolearnabout I can only guess via the skull theory haha! I can never see the 'nub' lol
We asked at 12 weeks if they could see the gender and the sonographer said she has a very good idea and will try to remember in as we had her for the 20 week scan and we did! First thing she said before 20 week scan was 'did you find out private? He's a boy isn't he!' I was like omg yeh!! 🤣 she said it was blind luck 😂🤣

VickiGo · 25/01/2023 16:25

I feel like all I do in here is ask questions but shamelessly heres another 🙈 is anyone experiencing or has experienced pregnancy rhinitis? If so, WHEN WILL IT END? 😂 I haven't been told that's what it is but I'm usually way over a cold by now, and I just cannot shift the snotty nose!

AnnieApple123 · 25/01/2023 16:29

Welcome @Rizzo80 . The important thing is to be taking 400mcg of folate/folic acid, so anything which contains that.

Had my 12 week scan today. First baby and I was shaking with nerves but it all looks good! Even though I obviously knew I was pregnant I was still somehow shocked to see wee bub bouncing around in there. 12 wks 5 days along so should be due 4 August. Sending positve vibes to anyone else feeling anxious waiting for their scan.

BusyBushBaby · 25/01/2023 17:02

Thanks for this @AnnieApple123.My due date has been moved to 31st July, I don't want to go overdue so an earlier due date suits me just fine!

My nausea easing significantly (still present but much less intense) however the fatigue is still next level. Can't wait to start feeling better!

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 17:39

@Alpacabag22 congrats on the scan.

To those asking about vitamins, I take Zita West trimester 1 which has everything we need, I also take an additional 5mg of folic acid as prescribed by my midwife due to a digestive issue I have. On all my booking forms etc it says the main ones to ensure you’re taking is folic acid and vit D. I took pregnacare for a little bit but only because it came free with all the goodies i got at my booking app from the midwife.

Had a little reassurance Scan today (dating Scan is 2 weeks today so needed to break up the wait a little). Baby’s heart rate is lovely, it has grown so much and was wiggling around, even gave us a little wave. Measuring 10+4 as expected ❤️

Countdown to the dating scan is officially on!

SnowL2021 · 25/01/2023 17:52

@Alpacabag22 Congrats on the scan!

Anyone else feeling like an elephant with a stomach bug? 🐘😩I feel so fat (have had a bump since 10 weeks) and still feeling sick every morning, despite being past 13 weeks. Have been feeling a bit down this week despite the joy of my 12-week scan being fine. Didn’t feel like this with my first pregnancy.

Amme18 · 25/01/2023 17:56

@Alpacabag22 with you on this! I just feel and look bloated/fat and I hate it 😅

somuchtolearnabout · 25/01/2023 18:41

@Firsttimemomma1 Most supplements I take already are Zita west so I’ve been considering their pregnancy supplements once my pregnacare run out (in about a week) as I do like their supplements generally. I’m convinced their Vital DHA helped us conceive quickly with our first two. Is there a reason you chose them?

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 18:53

@somuchtolearnabout I too am absolutely convinced that their Vital DHA (along with separately branded Coq10 and folic acid) assisted me with conception. I remember seeing an article by Louisa Zissman years ago who swore by that concoction of conception meds and I though why the hell not I’ll give it a whirl, did my research and voila, less than two months later there I was with my BFP after a year and a half of trying without any supplements. I must say I was also prescribed metformin by my fertility clinic to regulate my ovulation but was told that would take 6 months to kick in and I was only a month in with that when I got my BFP so I can’t conclude if that had anything to do with it.

As far as Zita West goes, I love that it’s a formula created by a midwife who knows what we (and our partners) need each step of the way rather than one size fits all throughout the whole pregnancy. I’ll be moving onto the trimester 2 supplements in three weeks (which coincides nicely with my trimester 1 supplements running out).

How about you? What made you choose Zita W?

sprollie11 · 25/01/2023 18:57

I had my scan on Monday - all went well and due date is 2nd Aug. The sonographer said "he" at some point and im trying to work out whether it was a slip of the tongue and she knows something we done, or whether it was completely meaningless!

LBF2020 · 25/01/2023 19:14

Thanks for the new thread 😊
@overwork it's amazing that you could tell, I had no idea you could possibly see sex on a 12 week scan!

Is anyone listening to any pregnancy podcasts and if so, any recommendations? I tend to listen to audiobooks at work and I've just started 'is it normal?' with Jessie Ware. Seems good so far!

LBF2020 · 25/01/2023 19:19

@sprollie11 Glad your scan went well. I think someone mentioned in one of the last threads that sonographers sometimes use a default sex when discussing peoples babies. So all babies would be a 'he'. Our sonographer also said he, but I haven't read anything it to it (maybe I should though 🤣)

ChloeN · 25/01/2023 19:19

@Firsttimemomma1 I went on Luisa’s recommendations too and got pregnant first cycle using them, could of been a coincidence but still!

unluckyinlife · 25/01/2023 19:24

My booking appointment went OK. I ended up being there for 2.5 hours despite being called straight in.

My blood pressure was through the roof, they had to retest it three times as my blood pressure is normally low. So no idea whats going on with . that. They just tutted and said too high, that's not good.

Then it took 2 midwives and a ward sister many attempts to get some blood out of me.

I think I have my scan the 20th of Feb as theyve put an appointment on my app for nuchal bloods and I think they do those the same day as the scan. I'll be between 12 weeks and 5 days or 13 weeks by their calculations.

I have my consultant app on the 17th to discuss the plan for the pregnancy given that I have joint consultant and midwife care.

They've given given me my gestational diabetes test appointment for the 2nd of June which seems a lifetime away.

somuchtolearnabout · 25/01/2023 19:29

@Firsttimemomma1 ME TOO!!!!! From Luisa Zissman!! It’s the coq10 from pureclinica. I didn’t have time to use it this time as baby was a bit unexpected but I took them from the beginning and DS1 was conceived immediately, a few months into trying with DS2 and nothing was happening then I remembered those supplements and we fell the next month, so really do think they helped. And from then on, if Zita west ever does the supplements I want I always seem to choose them.

Just ordered the trimester 2 ones, thanks for convincing me!

sally16 · 25/01/2023 19:32

@unluckyinlife aw god what a day!!
Yeh I've got a load of bloods to be done at my 12 week scan too! Have they not put the scan time on the app for you?

Hoeofully your blood pressure eases! 💙

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 19:37

@somuchtolearnabout @ChloeN oh girls ;)! Great minds! i don’t usually conform to what “celebrities” recommend as it’s usually sponsored nonsense but I love her honesty and so many women commented on her blog saying how it helped them. I was a bit sceptical but the proof now appears to be in the pudding haha!

@somuchtolearnabout the COQ10 was the pureclinica one yes and the folic acid was the simply supplements one (I just used all the ones she linked on her blog lol).

Eee let me know how you get on with them :)! Can’t wait to order mine.
