@Mulner88 ohhh good luck for your scan today! Looking forward to seeing if you’re right

BCxx · 18/02/2023 08:41

As I already have a boy I did think it would be nice if it was a girl this time, purely to get to experience both but I really found when I was pregnant with my son that it felt like somehow girls were the superior gender. I was pregnant the same time as a friend (who had a girl but didn’t find out) and at her baby shower there were friends saying they hoped it was a girl, while I was sitting there pregnant with a boy feeling like I must have like the second place gender 🤔 I was just delighted to be having a baby but the whole attitude from quite a few people really bugged me!

I watched SJ Strum’s YouTube video about gender and she said a little boy will only be the really rough/aggressive type if that’s what they’ve been brought up around, if your partner is calm and gentle then chances are your little boy will be the same. My husband has no patience and I’m constantly getting on at him for it, especially now he’s a toddler and copies so much of what we do 🙈

BCxx · 18/02/2023 08:51

@somuchtolearnabout oh wow that must have been so scary going through all that, no wonder it put you off having any more for a while. I think I’m maybe at the false sense of security stage with DS, he’s very easy in terms of sleeps all night (always has), is at the easy stage now of not really needing much when you leave the house but he is approaching the tricky toddler bit and lies down and cries at the most inconvenient times when he doesn’t get his own way 🙄 It’s the fact you’re pregnant for such a long term in comparison to how long a young child has been alive so it’s hard to imagine how they’ll be 6 months down the line! Three would be the perfect number for me too, I’m hoping this one goes as smoothly then we can have the last one in a few years then my TTC shoes will be binned 🤣

I never really used to think about it but I see people out and about with toddlers or slightly older kids and just think how much they must miss the cute baby bit (some of it anyway) and if they stop at 2 kids for example they’ll just never get that again 😢 I remember how emotional I was unexpectedly when he would grow out his newborn clothes etc and that was only on baby number 1 so I knew I’d get to do it again! It just all goes by so quickly and suddenly they’ll be at school 😩 What will you do about the logistics of having 3, like the back of the car scenario? Would you fit them all in?

BCxx · 18/02/2023 08:58

Haha yip that was me @Amme18 🤣 my go to!

somuchtolearnabout · 18/02/2023 09:04

@BCxx I'm probably right there with you in the false sense of security stage with (what I still call 😂) the baby. He actually turns 2 at the end of March though and he has literally (as in the last week) become a bit of a handful. Just shouting if he wants something, refusing to get dressed, refusing to get in / out the bath, refusing to brush teeth etc. So I think he's now very much "a two year old" whereas the older one is a piece of cake in comparison. He's almost 4 and is very self sufficient in terms of 4yr olds. Sounds like we're very much in the same boat. How old is your little boy?

Logistics wise we are ok. We have a 4 bed house so they can all have their own room, as like yours, mine have always slept all night. I will caveat that though by saying we sleep trained very young, even younger with the second and will do the same again. I am not one of these parents that deals well without structure. I like routine, the children go to bed at 7pm, the younger one has a long lunch nap in his cot and always has done (except on hols / days out etc when I'm totally flexible) so this one will hopefully go the same way. We have like an "adults only" living room which we are finally converting into a playroom and we've just bought a RR Defender as my current car would just be too much of a squeeze with 3 car seats in the back. We are basically just throwing money at the situation and hoping everything will be fine 😂😂 3 is a lovely number for us, and it isn't lost on us how utterly privileged we are to have even been able to have 3 children so easily and I am thankful every day for that. I always wanted a big family and feel so lucky to have been able to do it 🥰

AnnieApple123 · 18/02/2023 09:09

@Amme18 and @Marmaladebear I’ve googled that before too!

Apologies as I feel I came across as insensitive now saying I assumed my first pregnancy probably wouldn’t be my last. I’ve definitely never taken anything for granted and this one has taken a while (over a year, although I realise that would sound like nothing to many people). I’m now viewing the bigger age gap as a silver lining as it’s seeming like it will hopefully be more manageable. I’d be pushing it age-wise to hope for the same again though if trying for a third.

We were just driving on very winding roads, my husband was driving and we were nearly home but I started to get that horrible ‘I need to be sick’ feeling come over me. I’ve still physically only been sick twice the whole time I’ve been pregnant but just do the non stop gagging for a few minutes til it passes every time. I was trying to search for a drink, calmly at first, then quite frantically.. just to distract myself from it 🙈

Long story short, didn’t find one, husband repeatedly shouting ‘do you want me to stop?’ we were at a bit where we couldn’t stop, couldn’t really speak and given ive only been sick twice I was confident I’d be fine. Nope. Managed to contain it just to the sort of sick in my hand situation and it was just water but he pulled in and was literally shouting at me ‘WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!’ as if I somehow enjoy being sick in the car 🤔 He just kept being really harsh and didn’t even ask if I was okay. On the drive back I ended up bursting into tears at how unsympathetic he was 😭 One of those situations you know you’re crying for no reason but can’t stop the tears. Forced him to apologise since we got home but still so annoyed that he can’t see how bloody hard it is and somehow thinks it’s helpful to make it worse 🤦🏼‍♀️ Just sharing my patheticness to make me feel better 😂

BMK · 18/02/2023 14:05

@BCxx 'what are you doing'..eh I'm choosing to vomit in our car for fun!!!*I totally get this. It's the total lack of understanding. My OH is so bad when I'm sick, there's a TOTAL absence of the caring minding aspect and it drives me absolutely nuts as it's like he doesn't care at all. Like no 'do you want anything ',how are you feeling etc! I have to ask for anything that I can't get myself. So I absolutely appreciate your rant even though they're not the same!!

BCxx · 18/02/2023 14:26

@BMK glad you understand! He just doesn’t get it at all, so frustrating 🤦🏼‍♀️ Through my tears I was actually shouting, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I’m actually growing a baby here!!! All you want is someone to ask if you’re okay, go and get you a drink etc when you feel so low/pathetic/emotional! the absolute last thing I would do in that situation is shout at the person so it’s just totally blown my mind that he somehow thinks that was the thing to do 🙈 He did say a forced sorry after but I was really expecting a further apology and actually acknowledging how much of a pr* he was but nope! I’m just staying out his road instead!

BMK · 18/02/2023 15:44

They don't get ir and the more you're make them see the more bothered they get or it ends up being an exhausting waste of time trying! It's the absence of empathy or self reflection that gets me and the worst is that when I point this outOH says 'I guess I'm not that kind of person '!!(grrr) but then I'm like eh well you're empathetic and caring to the boys if there's anything wrong with them, and he's like ' but they're children '; and at that you realise trying to further reason is pointless!talking =losing time you'll never get back, too avail! I have no doubt yours is much better than this generally!(*or so I hope!)

Chl0o · 18/02/2023 17:56

Does anyone know yet if they have an anterior placenta? / had this in prev pregnancy?

Found out at my gender scan and now feel worried I'm not gonna be able to feel his movements as much :( didn't have an AP in my first pregnancy so not sure what to expect tbh!

Pic from my gender scan 😍 can't believe how clear you can see his lil face 💙

jjeanii · 18/02/2023 18:28

@Chl0o hi at my gender scan I was told the placenta will stop me feeling the kicks right now as it's sitting high or sitting above the baby or something I can't remember the exact thing she said , what does this mean is this what you are talking about?

jjeanii · 18/02/2023 18:28

@Chl0o and soo cute scan congrats

An anterior placenta means its sitting at the front between the baby and your belly

It can also be posterior (which is when it's at the back) or at the top or bottom

But yeah if it's anterior I've heard it can be harder to feel movements esp early you're less likely to feel first kicks til later on etc

jjeanii · 18/02/2023 18:37

I'm feeling pressure when the baby moves on my bladder kind of buzzing when she is moving around I definitely feel when she's moving around but no kicks no . Do you feel anything like that?

ChloeN · 18/02/2023 18:42

@Chl0o ive got an anterior too! Xx

Chl0o · 18/02/2023 18:51

Mulner88 · 18/02/2023 19:06

Scan today confirmed that we'll be having a baby girl 💗💗💗 We had a strong feeling it would be a girl 😍

BCxx · 18/02/2023 19:37

@Mulner88 aw amazing, congratulations! How strange you were right just from a feeling ☺️

LBF2020 · 18/02/2023 19:48

@Chl0o what a lovely clear image 🥰 I have an anterior placenta too. This is my first so i don't know what to expect in way of kicks etc.. although I could swear that I have been feeling movement but it could be gas 🤣

Skullcollector · 18/02/2023 20:10

Hiya, can I join the thread? Due early August with second baby

TattyTil · 18/02/2023 20:10

@Chl0o I have an anterior placenta this time, the sonographer said that early kicks might be cushioned but by the time I get to 24 weeks it won't feel any different 🤞 last time I started feeling movement about 18 weeks so it seems a long wait but I'm sure it'll be fine.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 18/02/2023 20:12

@Chl0o lovely scan pic 💕

Marmaladebear · 19/02/2023 12:55

Welcome @Skullcollector 💕

Lol went to a pilates class this morning and there was another lady in the class a lot more pregnant than me but using the heaviest weights and wearing the ankle weights too! Put me to shame but there was no way I was pushing myself any harder than I needed to 😂 hope everyone's having a wonderful weekend 💕
