To anyone who’s got COVID… I had it recently and it’s the first time I’ve ever had symptoms (and I was vaccinated!!) but I am now fine!

I told my midwife and she said I have to have another scan at 34 or 36 (can’t remember now) weeks as an extra check as I had covid. Not sure what the reason for that is as she said not to worry it’s just an extra precaution.

Leaf86 · 14/03/2023 22:06

@pippabg I have just had it, it was fine. Just like a mild cold, I didn’t even have a high temp. I’ve had a midwife appt since having it and she was unconcerned - no offers for extra scans (although that sounds great for Trusts that offer that!). It’s a milder variant circling these days and even better if you have had all your vaccines. I would contact your midwife for reassurance (I did), keep an eye on your temp and baby movements, but otherwise try to relax and not worry.

A friend has just sent me a link to an episode of Bluey called Dad Baby. I highly recommend you and your DH's watch it. We both laughed so much! Full episode on iplayer.

Zaalfruit · 14/03/2023 23:09

I have a proper cold and cough 😷 are we allowed to take cold flu plus or anything to ease it. I want to cry - I really hope it’s not covid , every part of me hurts and the toddler has a fever too.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 14/03/2023 23:55

@Zaalfruit not much we can take, no. Paracetamol and non-medicated cough syrup. Go talk to a pharmacist. They will know more. A steam inhalation might help?

PurBal · 15/03/2023 07:23

@Kelvie103 chunky kitkats were a major craving with DS1. Glad you’re feeling better.

@Ally1992 I’m feeling rotten too, my emotions are a rollercoaster.

PurBal · 15/03/2023 07:25

And also joining the “I have a cold” team. It’s been weeks!

@DrinkingAllTheGin DH loves that episode, the “baby race” episode is my favourite.

Kladebs · 15/03/2023 07:59

@Ally1992 ive been over emotional too. My highlight was crying when the evri driver told me he was leaving 🤣

I've finally sorted maternity leave dates. Taking 2 weeks holiday then starting mat leave. So only a month left of work!
Hopefully that gives me 5/6 weeks to sort the house out

Belami · 15/03/2023 08:44

@DrinkingAllTheGin don't know where my msg went!

Haha that episode you shared is brilliant 🤣

firsttimelondonmummy · 15/03/2023 09:13

@summerpoolandsun I’ve got the biggest sweet tooth too which I never had pre pregnancy.
Weird and I’m not loving it given I can’t exercise as I would like to given I got pregnant whilst recovering from a significant injury 😭

I’m glad it’s not only me who has been emotional, funny hearing everyone’s reasons 😅 I’m also craving sweet food especially in the evening, I have to hold back from eating a whole pack of biscuits 🙃

Just been signed off 2 weeks with TMJ pain. I can't eat, sleep or speak. I've had it since 4 weeks but it's getting massively worse. Nothing is taking edge off the pain now. I rang 111 yesterday, they called back at 2am. They prescribed me ibuprofen gel but told me not to take it due to issues it can cause baby's heart. They then rang me back and told me not to take it anyway due to already being on aspirin. So I tried my gp and they said don't take it and have now referred me to urgent ENT clinic. I've never been in as much pain before. I'd rather go through child birth 10 times than this. Work are great and understand. I'd rather be at work than this. I'm hoping it only lasts until dd2 comes out. I have the consultant on Wednesday next week and I'm going discuss earlier csection if this pain persists as it's unbearable.

C1umsyGiraffe · 15/03/2023 12:01

@firsttimelondonmummy yes! I felt huge before but now I feel massive! Yesterday my husband was staring at my stomach for ages.... think he's struggling with the changes more than me 😂 he said "it's just so round!"

I'm so sorry. This sounds so tough, I do hope the pain eases a bit and you get some support. Glad your work has been understanding!

Leaf86 · 15/03/2023 16:45

@BellaTheDarkOverlord can you try your dentist? Mine made me a splint that keeps my mouth / jaw in a particular position overnight and it saved me. It’s such horrible pain, really sorry you are suffering.

Zaalfruit · 15/03/2023 17:46

@BellaTheDarkOverlord ouch that so painful - I really hope the pain flares down and you can get some relief .

@DrinkingAllTheGin nothing is helping - I swear I can feel a sinus infection coming. I am signed off work till Monday but they were being so annoying about it - I am trying not to let get to me . It’s not my fault they have staffing issues and can’t find cover for me for a few days. I am really thinking to start maternity leave early because my work stresses me out so much.

@firsttimelondonmummy Aww look at your bump so cute !! How does it feel to have a bump? When I was pregnant the first time - I loved it , was amazed by how are bodies can change.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 15/03/2023 19:57

Thanks all xx

@Leaf86 I tried dentist but they don't want to know. Last saw dentist in January. Worst case I'll have to go back but it's private not NHS and they charge you £100 before you even get there for the actual treatment.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 16/03/2023 17:17

@Zaalfruit are you feeling any better? It's tough going through illness with no medication!
@BellaTheDarkOverlord how is your pain?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 16/03/2023 17:39

@DrinkingAllTheGin It's not too bad today, just niggling. Got bad again last night. It hurts when I eat anything remotely chewable. Just trying to get through meals trying to eat soft foods. I've told DH I need cake, that's definitely considered soft! Seeing midwife in the morning so going to mention it to her. She's been really good.

27+4 today so hopefully the end is in sight!

Kladebs · 16/03/2023 18:27

How is everyone balancing life and housework if they're constantly tired, drained and with hips that are on fire?
My house isn't a state yet, but it's crossing the fine line between lived in and messy.
The washing never ends, I have zero energy.
I nipped tesco on the bus yesterday after work and it did me. So nothing got done last night.
Today I've been resting my hips while the younger 2 were at school. My minds motivated to blitz but my body isn't 😭
The eldest is doing the pots and hoovering.
The 14 Yr old is doing cat tray and putting bins out, so thats a fair bit of help I get but I'm still struggling!!

Funfamilytimes · 16/03/2023 21:31

@Kladebs i have a breakdown to my partner and he’ll then clean up every other week 🤭😂

firsttimelondonmummy · 17/03/2023 07:37

@C1umsyGiraffe that’s what my partner keeps saying too 😂 he can’t believe the ‘pop’ 🤣

@Zaalfruit its wild haha and definitely a change I’m having to get used to.
It is amazing but so shocking to see your body change so drastically.
Our bodies are incredible.

@BellaTheDarkOverlord sorry to hear you haven’t been well, hope you feel better soon.
