So I called the midwife, knew it would be a waste of time, she asked me if I've had and swelling in my hands or feet or any bad headaches since the blurred vision, I said no but explained how my head feels off and she said " well keep and eye on it and if it happens again in the near future then make an app with my gp" I said getting an appointment is like gold dust around here but she wasn't concerned, feel stupid now for calling but really don't feel right 😔

Leaf86 · 27/02/2023 17:49

@Hlc86 I get migraines with aura but without pain, and my vision can pretty much go (I also tend to feel very strange and a bit nauseous). It hasn’t happened in pregnancy for me yet, but I did have to go to hospital the first time it happened. Can you ring 111 for some advice ?

Is anyone else catching everything going at the moment? I think I am coming down with my third cold - I only got over the last one 2 weeks ago. I’m never usually so sickly!

justbelieve · 27/02/2023 18:01

@Hlc86 id ring your midwife. I was re-reading all of the info and facts in my green notes last night (fun bedtime reading 🤣) and it specifically said get in contact without delay if your vision blurs and you have flashing lights. So please do so xx

justbelieve · 27/02/2023 18:02

@Hlc86 my thread hadn’t refreshed before I sent that. Good that midwife thinks it’s okay, but if it happens again I’d ring again, even if it was all okay this time 👍🏻

Omg I'm so fricking hungry all the time !!!! Really trying to restrain myself from eating crap because I don't want to put unnecessary weight on but its so hard!!!

Trying to avoid stretch marks too but I think that's meant to be generic isn't it so I guess I'll get them if I get them but gorging on food probably won't help 🤣

Also anyone else had bad heartburn lately? I keep waking up with my throat burning like crazy!!🔥

Literally this. I was size 6 before I got pregnant and now I eat more than my partner who is 19.5 stone in muscle. I'm 24 weeks and all I do is eat and it seems to come on like all of a sudden?? Also I have noticed heartburn is wild like actually be wimpering in my sleep before I wake up and neck the Gaviscon. I used to get heartburn before I was pregnant but this is wild!!

Also have noticed I'm sooooo tired. I work from home but on Thursday went into the office and literally had to take Friday off I was so tired.

Had a little brown discharge this morning which freaked the life clean out of me but baby has been moving fine and it's stopped now. Midwife says she thinks it was from having sex twice yesterday so that's going off the agenda!!

Hlc86 · 27/02/2023 19:42

Thank you all for your messages I will keep and eye on it like she said, just hope it goes by tomorrow as don't fancy doing a 14 hour shift feeling like this 😅

Pippagled · 27/02/2023 21:08

@Mamma2bee oh I'm so tired too! I work from home 2 days a week and found myself having 2 hour afternoon naps (a luxury, I know!) So tired when I'm at work as have a long commute too. Thinking of asking if I can go from 3 days in the office, to do 2 days in the office. Also starting to go to bed at 21:30, which is super early for me! Previously a bit of a night owl.

Pippagled · 27/02/2023 21:09

Also I have thrush for the second time in 5 weeks. Anybody else having this problem?

DrinkingAllTheGin · 27/02/2023 21:32

I've been saving my holiday And now down ton4 days a week. I cant WFH so this is the best option

Zaalfruit · 28/02/2023 02:44

@Belami the burn is so bad for me . I am literally living a beige diet and still it hurts 😢😢😢

@Hlc86 deffo would just get checked out about it. I have been getting headaches and blurry visions they have been making me go just to get my blood pressure checked roughly every two weeks and protein checks in my urine .

@tigerlily0 in terms of fit to fly I think you can get it from private companies . I haven’t used zoom docs but I have seen that they are able to offer it privately.

( Anyone else feels like their body can’t handle growing anymore - my stomach is constant pain and I feel a lot of pressure everywhere - I don’t think it helps that my toddlers demands to be carried and requires lots of hugs and kisses constantly. I feel bad and guilty as sometimes I’m just so tired and she’s isn’t getting my full energy and concentration .)

Zaalfruit · 28/02/2023 13:56

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/02/26/gas-air-suspended-hospitals-expecting-mothers/ Is this true I’m worried …. I need gas and air for the post stitches … but I am worried about the midwives too.

Kladebs · 28/02/2023 18:17

25 weeks today, had first growth scan, all is good and they're where they should be size wise. So that's me anxiety free for 24 hours! Being scanned every 4 weeks now.
Like I thought, they have moved. Baby boy is now head down on my left side, baby girl is transverse (think that's the right term), with her head on the right. Saw her kicking her brothers head 😂

@Zaalfruit I hope it's not, I love my gas and air in labour lol. Looks like another hospital found a solution with air purifiers though

Zaalfruit · 01/03/2023 06:25

Ohh great news @Kladebs about the growth scans !! Lol more to come with the sibling love 😂😂 does the kicks feel more intense with the twins and sorry a nosey question - can you tell who is kicking ..?

(yay hopefully they all get air purifiers )

Kladebs · 01/03/2023 06:54

@Zaalfruit yeah at the moment I can tell which is kicking because they're in totally different positions. The movements feel no different though, but twin B is alot lazier than twin A lol

Fredthespider · 01/03/2023 07:06

@Zaalfruit I’ve added gas and air to my list to ask the midwife at my next appointment. It’s a bit worrying how many hospitals have stopped using it, but I know some are still allowing it at home births so I’ve warned my husband that I’ll be switching to one of those if I can’t get it at the birth unit. I relied on it in the past and I’d rather not need to try stronger medication if I don’t have to.

justbelieve · 01/03/2023 09:39

Has anyone bought a bassinet / bedside crib yet? If so, what have you gone for/considering?

dresslol · 01/03/2023 10:00

@justbelieve i was thinking about this cot, but haven’t been able to establish the safety from an ‘avoiding chemicals’ point of view. The cot has an adjustable height so I can have it next to my bed and later it can be extended to be used as a toddler bed and young child to 7 years which I thought was a good idea.
What other cots are people considering?

justbelieve · 01/03/2023 11:14

@dresslol I got the Harwell cotbed from Mamas and Papas (haven’t unboxed it yet though!). I’m still unsure what bassinet to get, I think I like the idea of the Snuzpod, but there’s so many other options 😣

Leaf86 · 01/03/2023 11:44

@dresslol thats the one we are going to get (same reason re chemicals), but only when baby moves to own room. My friend told me a newborn might be harder to settle in a full size cot so am going for a snuzpod with a naturalmat mattress for the first few months.

Junebaby30 · 01/03/2023 12:59

@justbelieve I have the Tutti bambini Cozee I set it up to check everything was ok and it seems great.
Does anyone have any bouncer or changing bag recommendations?

C1umsyGiraffe · 01/03/2023 13:18

No idea on the cot yet... want something fairly inexpensive so will probably look at second hand and just buy a new mattress. My friend had a baby last year and she's giving us her SnuzPod and I'll get a new mattress for that :)

LT103 · 01/03/2023 13:32

@Junebaby30 we have the tutti bambini cozee too but the lite one. It’s like that it’s easily transportable as we have a couple of weekends away before baby will be 6 months.

have my first pregnancy yoga class tonight too!! 6 week block

Zaalfruit · 01/03/2023 13:37

Oooh 😮 @Kladebs love that you know the differences between twin A and B it’s so sweet .

@Fredthespider I wish I could have an at home birth with gas an air but I know what would happen my toddler would decide she needs to participate. So out of the house is better. Yep it’s deffo on my list to ask the midwives aswell. I had a growth scan today and I saw the gas canisters being carted out of the maternity ward . So I’m hoping they are still using them.

In terms of cot - we just got a big standard cheap one from John Lewis and we tried to invest more in the mattress and now we have switched to a toddler bed for the 2 year old . For the first few months I’m using the chicco next to me. I think it’s alright - we had the one where it would swing but we never used the feature .

C1umsyGiraffe · 01/03/2023 14:02

@LT103 hope you enjoy it! I go to one on Thursdays and it's so nice to just be around pregnant people and enjoy it. I think it'll really help with birth as well as we do a lot of breathing stuff and stretching!

Belami · 01/03/2023 15:52

Anyone else doing an nct?

We're doing bump and baby but it doesn't start until mid April !
