@Zaalfruit I’ve not been since I was a kid so can’t even remember what it’s like!
I know this sounds spoilt but it’s a little bittersweet.
My parents flew to Thailand today to see my sister and they offered to fly me and my DP out with them but the long flight, vaccines and Zika risk put me off and I just didn’t want to risk anything.
I was also supposed to go to Thailand in 2019 but it got cancelled because of Covid, same with St Lucia in 2020.
Of course I’m still so grateful we will be going away but can’t help feeling I missed that one last big trip.

@firsttimelondonmummy sounds fantastic. DH doesn't have much holiday left so we are Limited to weekends.

Hlc86 · 18/02/2023 13:46

So I've had a productive day, put all baby clothes away newborn to 3-6, packed my hospital bag, set up the cot, moses basket and next to me crib, got my steriliser all set up, bottles washed (will do again closer to due date) and cleaned the whole house. Today has definitely been my nesting day and what with working 60hr weeks in a very physical job I feel I needed to it it all earlier before I get to big, even tho still no baby bump 😢. Only thing I need to get now is water wipes for the hospital bag and the bottle starter packs to take to hospital. Feel so much better now its all done as was getting stressed I wouldn't get it done in time

DrinkingAllTheGin · 18/02/2023 14:25

That's impressive @Hlc86. DH is working and I've spent the day chilling out with an audio book!

Hlc86 · 18/02/2023 14:53

@DrinkingAllTheGin that sounds like bliss! I find it very hard to relax I'm one of those annoying people that never stop, everyone keeps telling me I'm doing to much but the more people say it the more I feel I need to do! I might treat myself to a bath in abit tho and put my pjs on 😍

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/02/2023 20:18

@Hlc86 Very productive! I can't put up crib or Moses basket as family still have them and using them 😂Cats would take over them anyway. I've got paint today to repaint lounge in areas where furniture had been moved and it needs touching up. I might sand the doors and frames tomorrow and repaint those too. I'm trying to get the house in a livable condition. DDS room will be knocked down over next year when she moves into loft so I've let her get some tester pots of paint for her room and she made a hideous mural on her walls in bedroom. Oh well.

Zaalfruit · 18/02/2023 20:55

@firsttimelondonmummy omg don’t be silly your feelings are validated. I know what it means to miss out on things because of covid. I went St Lucia for my honeymoon back in 2018 the north side is really child friendly ! So don’t worry you might be able to squeeze that one in with a baby . You know I totally understand about having that one last big holiday just the two of you we had to cancel April 2020 going to a destination wedding . I hope you really enjoy your holiday .

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 19/02/2023 09:21

@skyofdiamonds I was thinking of you yesterday, how are you doing now?
Got to say I announced the pregnancy news and everyone was so positive, happy and supportive. I feel like other people's positivity for the good outcome took away 90% of the anxiety and I'm enjoying the pregnancy now. I just thought everyone would be super cautious with 'oh let's see how this one goes' which would've made me even more anxious but no, none of that!

ImHopeful2023 · 19/02/2023 10:38

Hey all just wondering how many movements are ppl feeling making me anxious some days I have loads and others only a few

Belami · 19/02/2023 10:41

@ImHopeful2023 same 🫤

ladydorito · 19/02/2023 10:59

@ImHopeful2023 - I am finding movements incredibly anxiety inducing at this stage too. Too early to officially start counting or tracking but when you're feeling them every day, it's hard not to.

I'm not sure it's helpful to make direct comparisons as every baby is different but if it does give you any guidance - I'm 22+6, have felt them every day for at least past fortnight, now feel something at least every few hours and definitely more intense in the evening/overnight. That's been really good for me as I have terrible anxiety related insomnia and I do find it settling when I can't sleep to feel them kick. HOWEVER there have been a couple of days this week where I've felt a lot less than others, and it's been horribly unsettling.

Everyone says this but it's true: you think you'll stop worrying when the "next stage" happens - 12 week scan, first movements, 20 week scan, I'm now hyper focussed on reaching viability but I'm no longer under illusions - this is going to be an anxious ride for me all the way through.

Anyone else struggling at all with pelvic pain?! Feels like it's got quite sore this week. Not unbearable but enough to say to my husband I can't manage our usual long Sunday walk today...

ImHopeful2023 · 19/02/2023 11:50

I know @Belami and @ladydorito I have anterior placenta I'm 24 weeks a feel movements on morning and evening mostly but this morning I thought I would never feel anything and eventually felt a kick some days stronger than others.

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 19/02/2023 12:21

@ImHopeful2023 I'm almost 22w. There are a few kicks in the morning very close together and then same again in the evening. It can be anything between 3 or 15 but very close together, and that's when I'm on my back. Sometimes I feel 2-5 gentle kicks throughout the day but not always, I'm at work during the day so probably that's why.

ImHopeful2023 · 19/02/2023 12:26

Hi @ScrantonDunderMifflin I know somedays I have loads and some days not so much like you I think it's during work I don't feel them but then I panic when I'm home and I don't feel them

firsttimelondonmummy · 19/02/2023 12:34

@ImHopeful2023 I’ve been exactly the same and when I’ve reached out to friends who’ve been/ are pregnant most of them had no solid consistency until 28 weeks.

@Zaalfruit that’s great to hear! I’m so jealous you’ve already been it looks AMAZING 🤩

@DrinkingAllTheGin we found some amazing staycation properties on air b&b.
Not sure where you are based but we adored Cornwall in September (actually where DS was conceived 😂)

Thanks @firsttimelondonmummy that makes me relax a bit after two miscarriages I just can't stop worrying

firsttimelondonmummy · 19/02/2023 14:57

@ImHopeful2023 I was panicking and I’ve not had a miscarriage so I can’t imagine how stressful it is for you ❤️
All I can promise is that everyone I’ve spoke to says it’s normal at this stage.
I have had days where I’ve literally felt him once for a couple of minutes the whole 24 hours and days where I feel him every few hours for 5/10 minutes.

Kladebs · 19/02/2023 15:29

I've been stressing over movements too. Twin B will have a day or 2 off anyway, but less off twin A. Then again I've been doing more around the house and stuff now I've got energy back so I probably just don't notice it as much.
Also didn't wake up until 10:30 this morning, after my eldest got home at 5 am and sat up chatting with me 🤣 and twin A is a morning mover.

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 19/02/2023 15:47

@ImHopeful2023 I have exactly same history as you so totally get it. Moves are so reassuring and it feels so healing to have a moving baby inside you after all the pain of losses❤️ Sometimes the baby has quiet days and it really is worrying but we have to remember there is no clear pattern at this stage 🌸

ImHopeful2023 · 19/02/2023 16:09

Thanks everyone glad I'm not alone in this it's a scary time but glad everyone is doing well andy friends tell me this is how the worry over your child begins and never goes away

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 19/02/2023 16:45

Mine is usually wiggling all over the place morning, day and night but today's she's given a few kicks and been a bit quiet. Making a curry currently so hoping that wakes her up a bit for this evening. I can feel her moving around but not kicking as such today.

summerpoolandsun · 19/02/2023 18:22

I’ve found days of not much movement very stressful too. We just had a 24 week quick reassurance scan and it was lovely to see baby yawning and practicing swallowing and to share that with our son. I’m finding I need a scan every month to stay relaxed. They are 2D and only 10 minutes so I don’t think it bothers baby. After years of secondary infertility and IVF, I just need a bit more reassurance I guess to believe this will all be good. And today was especially wonderful because she’s developed so much in a month and we got to share that with our son. He’s more excited than ever. Was really worth the £70 for peace of mind 🙌 🥰

justbelieve · 19/02/2023 18:45

I’m also feeling anxious over movement, I don’t feel very much yet. I’m 22+3. Normally 2-3 kicks in the morning and about 3 kicks in the evening. I can occasionally feel one or two throughout the day but that’s rare so I don’t worry too much if I haven’t.
I have an anterior placenta so that could be cushioning some of the movement. I’m trying not to get too worked up though at the moment as it’ll be a slippery slope for me once I do 🙈 my first trimester was the worst for anxiety, I had 5 private scans… 🙈

DrinkingAllTheGin · 19/02/2023 18:55

DH and I have been to the cinema this afternoon and if you want baby to move, go see something with a lot of base! Bubs danced all the way through.
