I know exactly how you feel @justbelieve just wish we could feel more

firsttimelondonmummy · 19/02/2023 19:01

@DrinkingAllTheGin you just reminded me to ask has anyone been to a concert heavily pregnant?
I naively booked Paramore for April (standing) and now I’m questioning if it’s a good idea or not at 31 weeks pregnant.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 19/02/2023 19:15

@firsttimelondonmummy I know that I couldn't stand for that long now, let alone at 31 weeks.

firsttimelondonmummy · 19/02/2023 19:20

@DrinkingAllTheGin i’m still going on 2 1/2 hour weekend dog walks with no issues and understand it’s a while away but I currently feel great and still feel pretty fit!
It’s more the music damaging his hearing or something that I’m worried about 😭

Anyone else getting stitch like pains in their bump and lower back ache when walking? I also get pins and needles in my left hip when I lay on my side. I've been to physio about it and he said it's likely to be round ligament or the start of pelvic girdle pain. Couldn't really do anything apart from give me a support belt but doesn't seem to do much, he said some people end up on crutches with PGP so that's reassuring...😒

I've been for a few dog walks this weekend and on the last few occasions I've come home and my lower back has been absolutely killing, I've had to lay down and put heat on it. Keep having to have baths in an evening to help.

I love walking with my dog so it's really disheartening that I'm having these pains so early. Is this normal for 24 weeks? It's hard to know what's normal pregnancy pain and what's a cause for concern with your first.

Belami · 19/02/2023 19:29

Also kind of related to below posts - going in the bath really gets my baby moving, or at least I notice it more in the bath! It's really reassuring if he's had a quiet day

firsttimelondonmummy · 19/02/2023 19:40

@Belami I get a bit of back ache on super long dog walks but tends to ease straight off as soon as I’m home and resting.
How long are you currently walking for?
Maybe shorten them and see how you feel?

OP posts:
Belami · 19/02/2023 19:48

@firsttimelondonmummy only like an hour or something?

The stitch pain in my bump can happen after like 5 minutes which is really odd but the lower back ache seems to start if I've been walking a bit longer.

My husband and my mum said I've probably over done it but an hour doesn't feel like long to then be in pain for the rest of the day? Some people are still running at this point!

Scared I'm going to turn into a right pudding if I can't walk as normal 😅

firsttimelondonmummy · 19/02/2023 19:58

I tend to have to go over the two hour mark to get it and the pain is short lived so I don’t think I can be of much help 😞
Annoying if you were dog walking before and it’s not a new form of exercise.
People do say the belts can really help but I hear the way you put it on and how tight it is can make a huge difference?
Also if it’s anything like pillows may be worth trying a few brands?

@Belami I'm getting the stitch like pain. Comes on if I've been on my feet maybe 2 hours or more or if I'm walking quick. I'm actually limping when it comes on it's so painful. Goes off if I sit or lay down though. It's on right side of bump so I was thinking ligament pain. DD2 has woke up a bit tonight as I lay down on sofa. She's dancing inside me.

BathshebaEverdeen · 19/02/2023 20:41

I do get backaches, especially lower backache. It happens after standing for longer time. It does subside after I have a lie down.
I do daily dog walking for around 30 minutes, if it goes longer backache starts.

On a side note, I wanted to ask how do you know the movements are kicks?
I have anterior placenta and been feeling some movements, but they are so muffled that I feel they might be baby changing position.

PurBal · 19/02/2023 20:52

@Hlc86 amazing nesting! I got a bit excited today as found out my sister is expecting.

Not sure I ever had “regular” movements with DS, just got to the point where it felt normal or not. I do remember downing a pint of ice cold water at 4am in an attempt to get him moving though.

PurBal · 19/02/2023 20:59

@Belami in my first pregnancy the physio advised no more than about 15 minutes walking at a time due to the pelvic pain I had. Then to sit down for a rest. Pre and early pregnancy I had been walking around 12-18 miles as a Saturday activity (20 miles at 6 weeks pregnant). Apparently it’s to do with the amount of relaxin. I’ll be honest: my mental health took a downturn after being told not to walk. I couldn’t be bothered going out for a walk when I had to spend so much of the time sitting and didn’t get anywhere. Also live in the countryside and there are only so many tree stumps. Have you got a physio referral?

Belami · 19/02/2023 21:22

@firsttimelondonmummy thank you for your suggestions 💕 I've got a belt my friend lent me and one from the physio but not really sure how tight to have it ? But i'm scared to put it too tight.
Im currently using a long pregnancy pillow to sleep but not really sure how much difference it makes.

@BellaTheDarkOverlord sorry to hear that:( my stitch pain goes off if I sit but the backache doesn't seem to for ages.

@PurBal thank you for sharing, that's interesting to know what you were told. I'm shocked that they told you to rest after only 15 mins, maybe I need to try that.... I can totally relate to how you must have felt. It's crap. How're you feeling with this pregnancy so far? Yeah but it wasn't useful at all, he said he couldn't do anything and he'd send me some exercises on an email (which he never did) & he gave me a belt but doesn't seem to do anything 🫤

PurBal · 19/02/2023 21:35

@Belami was he a specialist obstetrics physio? I ask because it seems an odd specialism to go into as a man (judgmental of me I know), my mum’s a physio and she said she couldn’t help because he hadn’t done the specialism. I got a belt / bump support and definitely found it helpful later on but until there’s a bump support I don’t think it eases anything. I also had a coccyx cushion to ease pain whilst sitting. I have the email from last time, I’ll send the information to you. I’m feeling much better this pregnancy but not even attempting the walking I was last time (2 miles today, phew!) I’m about 3 weeks off where I was in my last pregnancy when I saw the physio so I’m hopeful it doesn’t get as sore.

Belami · 19/02/2023 21:40

@PurBal thanks for mentioning that because I didn't even think about that. I'm not sure as it was just a referral through the nhs. It was in the hospital where all the other standard physios were.

I've definitely got a bump but the belt doesn't seem to be helping so far so unsure if I'm using it right/tight enough/loose enough.

Thank you, that's very kind. Really pleased to hear you're doing well so far. Maybe some of its to do with the babies positioning?

PurBal · 19/02/2023 21:43

@Belami I think you’re right about positioning. My placenta is anterior this time. And I feel kicks lower down and closer to my bladder than I remember. We’re told all pregnancies are different after all 😊

pippabg · 19/02/2023 22:28

I've not really had much pelvic pain, but getting a lot of backpain - lower and upper, especially at night. I wondered if anybody had any tips or advice. I have a pregnancy pillow, but it doesn't seem to be working. I've found some relief from going swimming and stretching all my back muscles, so will continue with that, but wondered if there's anything else to try?

summerpoolandsun · 19/02/2023 23:21

I’ve been getting back pain and I find it helps when DH gives me a gentle massage/uses his nails to go up and down my back gently. But my real annoyance is cramp. Getting cramp in both legs nearly every night and it’s really hard going. Just feels so uncomfortable. Again poor DH is on massage duty with that.

PurBal · 20/02/2023 06:42

@Belami about your belt, because I didn’t reply to that, I always go with tight as possible (but not uncomfortable so it digs in or anything). The baby is well protected with amniotic fluid.

C1umsyGiraffe · 20/02/2023 07:11

I've been really lucky this pregnancy so far, haven't had any symptoms or discomfort! I know I've over done it this weekend though because my back and hip really hurt.

The only thing, my bump really hurts where baby is when I roll over on time my other side? Only ever after I've been sleeping on one side for a long time. Anyone else got this?

Also totally understand what people say about movements, one day loads the next hardly anything and it's not good for anxiety!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 20/02/2023 07:59

I've been awake most of the night. How can I be soooo tired, yet so unable to sleep?
I'm going to go to work for a couple of hours then come home early. DH and the cat spent the night snoring away. Bloody men! So unfair.

ImHopeful2023 · 20/02/2023 13:37

Thanks everyone for your comments about movements it's put me at ease somebit don't think the anxiety will ever go away tho

summerpoolandsun · 20/02/2023 14:19

Me too, thank you for sharing about movements. After an amazing scan I didn’t feel any movement for hours, really started to worry. Just now baby started moving loads, it’s all such a mind play. Can’t wait till she’s in my arms and I won’t have to worry about movement

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/02/2023 14:40

Sorry for those worried about movements. It's hard when placenta is on front of not knowing what's normal for you. Hopefully these next few months pass quick for us so we then have our lovely babies.

I woke DH up last night as I was having a panic attack. I went to bed with left chest pain and left arm pain. My mind went straight to preeclampsia I had it in my head I'd die in my sleep and I couldn't stop crying. It was horrible. Told DH I'm really worried about the complications I have and if me or the baby won't make it. Really horrible feeling but DH was great. I feel better now but I just couldn't hold on the emotion and was inconsolable. Really weird.
