thetravelphotographer Huge congratulations! Hope it all went smoothly for you and baby and that you're both settling. I'm finding it difficult to imagine the transition from pregnant to actually having a baby in my arms (even though I've done it twice before!)

Am 40 weeks today. Apart from my digestive system having a clear out (ahem) no sign of anything as yet... I've arranged some work meetings today just to take my mind off it!

I'm only 36+3 and seriously already fed up I've had a really bad pregnancy HG, PGP, blood thinning injections, numerous admissions for days on end due to dehydration and carrying a bigger baby. This is my third and my first 2 were prem baby 1 born at 36 weeks baby 2 at 34 weeks so I just think i wasn't expecting to be this pregnant. They will induce me at 40 weeks but terrified about that also so hoping I just go into labour naturally.

Another baby arrived! Induced yesterday then contractions started and baby born relatively quickly at 3.45pm. I’ve just been up all night feeding and with after pains so swapped one sort of wake less mess for another!

@Whatames ·
Huge congratulations to you so nice to hear another baby has arrived safely ❤️ 😊

I know what you mean about swapping one kind of sleepless night for another!!
I spent the first two nights awake after he was born just staring at him!! Couldn't take my eyes off him just so elated and happy!! Thankfully I've slept since though !!

Congratulations again!!!

Congratulations Whatames! Lovely lovely news! Hope you're getting some rest.
Now can you all please send your contractions my way when you're done with them?!

Ooooh a week old stockpiling! What a lovely birthday! It sounds like you're doing really well. Are your hormones settling okay? I remember with one of mine I had a huge weep a few days after his birth, I couldn't believe the world was trusting me to be in charge of an actual human being! Is your baby sleeping in a moses basket during the day at all? Mine never did and I really really REALLY hope this one does...

Still no sign of baby here! I can't believe I'm 2 days from the due date and nothing. They were so convinced that he/she was going to be early, I was admitted a few months ago to have steroids to strengthen baby's lungs! I'm very very glad that didn't happen, but it's quite odd to think that I could well be late after all.

We are doing ok thanks! The hormones have been ok - I have cried a few happy tears when he's being all adorable or when my husband is just being such a wonderful dad or really supportive it just makes me cry 😆 we've been feeding expressed breast milk overnight as it fills him up more and a lot quicker so he settles in his crib and sleeps for longer stints. The first few nights he would not settle in the crib and I swear was up every 30 mins wanting a feed, which was tiring 😱😆

The only challenge at the moment is recovering from the episiotomy. Not sure how everyone else is doing recovering from birth but Jesus these stitches are so uncomfortable. I went to the doctors today who have given me antibiotics and some sort of codeine that can be used while breastfeeding. I've also ordered some cooling witch hazel pad things because honestly it's agony. Plus seem to have got a UTI. So frustrating as I feel great otherwise so just desperate to take baby for lovely walks and visit people but really cannot walk, and getting major cabin fever! Hopefully with the help of the tablets and little more time it will sort itself out. Even with that it's still far easier getting up off the sofa than it was the last few weeks of pregnancy Grin

Hope everyone else is doing well and recovering well, and has lovely happy and healthy babies that make all this shit so worthwhile! Flowers

I'm still waiting! Going slowly mad here and wondering if I'll be up the duff forever...

Smilesarecontagious · 12/02/2023 21:35

I've been wondering how you are getting on xx

@stockpilingallthecheese that's exactly how mine was after my first. It felt like they had pulled the stitches together too tight. This time round has been much better, though I went for a walk with my dad earlier who walks fast, and I literally now feel like the stitches are going to ping undone. All the post-pregnancy joys!

But totally agree about being able to get off the couch without having to mentally gear up for the workout!

@NewandNrvous My plug came out at 35 weeks and still no signs of anything happening at 38+4... I've been having practice contractions that feel like the real thing too but they never get any stronger and then they stop. It's so annoying but babies don't stay inside forever x
