Huge congratulations stockpilingallthecheese ! Lovely news! Sorry to hear that the birth wasn't ideal, I hope both you and baby are able to take the time to mend and relax. Huge hugs.

Is anyone else being inundated by family asking for updates? 😂 I'm due on Saturday and since yesterday I've had my parents, MIL, SIL and husband's aunt all phoning to ask if I feel that baby will be here soon. Maybe they have a secret sweepstake going on!

Smilesarecontagious · 02/02/2023 09:58

No unfortunately both our sets of parents have passed away and no siblings etc just us and our little family
Maybe they have a little bet on 😄
It's nice though x

I had this constantly with my first and actually hated it as it made me feel really pressurised and even more aware that the baby hadn't come on time. This time round I've not told anyone the actual due date, I just said end of Jan. My uncle messaged yesterday asking if I'd had the baby yet (!!) so I just decided to message my family in our group chat and to say that I would let them all know when I had any news, and in the meantime I appreciated them thinking of me.

Hopefully they will read between the lines and realise that I will off course have told them if I'd had the baby already 🙄

😂 I should have thought of that. I feel like going back to everyone and saying "you know it could be another 2 weeks?" It's like they think I'm somehow choosing to keep baby in

Holeymoleymacaroni · 02/02/2023 15:38

Congratulations!

I've had a few texts fishing for updates. Really don't mind generally but when it's from someone I barely ever speak to it annoys me a little bit...

Mood has been really low for the last few days. Anyone else had this? Been fine throughout the rest of pregnancy!

WonderWoop · 02/02/2023 22:17

Is there any way at all to stop the urge to go to the toilet? 11 days to go before section and I am so fed up of getting up& down for loo 😭😭😭

I have gestational diabetes and just want to eat a lrge slice of cake now please 😫.. Trying to avoid the induction in 6 days as ive scared myself with some of the stories ive read

Smilesarecontagious · 03/02/2023 11:16

@Smilesarecontagious im sorry you're feeling this way too, but its nice to know im not alone feeling like this right now!.. My BS levels are still wacky even though im on insulin so i have will have to get induced when im 39 weeks thats the furtherest they letting me go after pushing it back from 37 weeks! I am ready for this to be over with.. Have u asked for a stretch and sweep to help things along?

Smilesarecontagious · 03/02/2023 13:32

@blibbyblobb
I've been diet controlled since November with the gestational diabetes it's been really tough at times something I wasn't expecting
They offered induction but we agreed on a sweep next week
Lots of pain in my back and lower stomach so I'm hoping things will happen 🙏
Really know how u feel I'm also ready for this to end!!
My husband asked what I'd like after the birth regards the sugar and diabetes
I just can't wait to have a proper coffee with two sugars !!! That will be heaven x

@Smilesarecontagious thats good you have managed to stay diet control, im guessing thats why they are letting you go to 40 weeks?

I can't wait for that first meal after birth.. Im going all out.. Burger, chips, cheese sauce and strawberry milkshake 😋😋😋

Smilesarecontagious · 03/02/2023 14:24

Yeah it's been very boarder line so they said I can go 40 plus 6
That sounds amazing I've missed carbs so much especially bread if I have bread my bs goes through the roof !!!
Been so many things I've been so shocked that I can't eat as bs goes crazy
Basically been on protein and veg for months lots of bacon and eggs🤣🤣

So many extra appointments also but all growth scans were spot on so I've been lucky in that sense

I'm 40+3 now 😩

The irony of needing to be calm and relaxed to produce oxytocin versus the stress of the anticipation of what's to come. HOW CAN I RELAX?!!! Out of my whole pregnancy this week has been the worst just because of the not knowing. Imagine if all other major events in our lives were so unknown... I'm getting married but just don't know which day this month or I'm starting a new job but will just wait for a while and then start without any warning...!!

PotatoFacedWombat · 03/02/2023 17:41

I'm 39+2 today and am really trying not to think too much about it- not that I'm doing very well! I am self employed and wfh so I've been working with no break until today, when I decided I'd just read and watch TV (thought I might produce oxytocin if I completely relaxed!) I feel a bit crappy though, I think I need work in order to get me through the days until baby decides to come.
Feeling more pressure down below now, a bit like a stitch sometimes... Don't know if that's a sign!

Smilesarecontagious · 03/02/2023 22:07

Waters went an hour ago 🤞this is it !!!

NewandNrvous · 03/02/2023 22:26

Smilesarecontagious · 04/02/2023 10:17

He's here !!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
So went in after waters broke as contractions came thick and fast
Midwife recorded active labour at 11.54 born 12.54 so 1 hour exactly absolutely 🤪
Water birth so perfect
Weighed 8lb exactly
He's just perfect so in love
Still no sleep but I'm soo happy ☺️
Have to stay in just to monitor babies blood sugar and temp due to gestational diabetes but all good so far all being well home tomorrow 🥰🥰

NewandNrvous · 04/02/2023 11:07

So glad it went how you wanted! Sounds like the perfect birth!

Bet you can't wait to get home and rest(as much as you can) in your own bed

What name have you given little one?

.....and any tricks for starting things you want to share 😩

blibbyblobb · 04/02/2023 11:32

@Smilesarecontagious omg congratulations 🎊🎊🎊🎊 enjoy your non diabetic diet! And of course your new bundle of joy

Smilesarecontagious · 04/02/2023 12:02

Thankyou soo much xxx 🥰

Day before I went on two walks had a vindaloo and did some nipple twiddling in the bath!!! Even managed to get some milk😂 must have done something I think !!!

I'm definitely going to enjoy my non diabetic diet so far I've had some lovely nhs toast and jam!! never had toast taste so good

To be honest I'm just going to enjoy some alone time just me and him before the chaos commences at home

But yeah I'm looking forward to going home tomorrow ☺️

Nothing set in stone name wise keep looking at him and trying different options

Too much choice!!
