And MATERNITY NOTES 🥴 think that’s everything!

Sorry to swing back to the hospital bag chat, but anyone who’s started packing theirs how big is your bag? I got out my little cabin suitcase thinking that would be plenty and easier to roll than carrying a bag but it’s basically full already and I’ve only got half the things on the list 😂

Cabin carry on for me
Changing bag for baby
Backpack for husband

havanamama · 19/01/2023 17:35

In my hospital all vending machines and parking is contactless payments, so no need for a purse.

Do NHS hospitals have hair driers?

Babynum2 · 19/01/2023 18:17

I'm having the most craziest feeling right now it's a first. The baby has hiccups but he's head down so I can feel it in my bum! Every 5 seconds it's like a little pulse

Not as far as I’m aware!

Growth scan was good today, the lady that did it said she wouldn't have booked a 2 week one after my last result because baby's inside the 10-90th bracket. As it is, little lady's put on an entire pound and is now weighing an estimated 5lbs 3oz. Lots of positives so feeling pretty good this evening 😁

Aw thats fab news well done baby girl! Is that it for scans for you now Teddy?

My next one is at 32 weeks. Then another one is pencilled in for 36, when an eviction date will be set! Can’t believe I’m 30 weeks next week, definitely feels like the final countdown is about to start ⏰

TeddyBeans · 19/01/2023 18:55

@Cuppasoupmonster nope got two more booked in on 1st Feb and 22nd Feb 😁 not sure if I'll make it to the 22nd one - I've got 5 weeks left until my due date which is just ridiculous!

Eviction 😂 love that

I have only 36 week scan left now. ☺️

Are you guys planning to use any post-partum supplements?

I see Pregnacare do one specific for breastfeeding and one general post-partum. But is this necessary? Or does it make more sense to take hair supplements or iron?

TeddyBeans · 19/01/2023 20:04

I might try and find a hair and nails one. PP hairloss was massive for me last time but I lost so much hair in my first and second trimesters this time round that I really can't afford to have any more fall out. I'll be completely bald come the summer otherwise! 😱😱

I took it. Breastfeeding made me lose loads of weight and sapped my energy, I looked ill. One of the reasons I gave up after 8 months, I just couldn’t take feeling so tired and washed out.

Cuppasoupmonster · 19/01/2023 20:06

My hair fell out as well and grew back in an odd kind of ‘hat’. Luckily I was fine with looking like Jabba the Hut for the first 6 months after Dd was born because I was too tired to care!

TeddyBeans · 19/01/2023 20:08

I bought wool today so I can crochet little miss a blanket during early labour 🥰 I think part of me still expects to be induced so there'll be a lot of waiting around at hospital. It's really soft!

I'm another hair loss lady but it didn't really fall out until I stopped breastfeeding last time so will have a look into getting some supplements.

iratepirate · 19/01/2023 20:44

I’ve taken the pregnacare ones whilst breastfeeding.
I remember big chunks of my hair falling out in the shower and really crying about it.
Luckily I have thick hair so it wasn’t really noticeable either time.

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 19/01/2023 20:52

@Cuppasoupmonster this is my first so completely clueless, I hadn’t realised people had separate bags for labour, after and baby which makes me feel so much better! I see people packing towels and I kept
thinking wtf that takes up basically half my suitcase where is the rest meant to go😂

TeddyBeans · 19/01/2023 20:55

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I've packed a microfiber towel, it takes up far less space than a normal one 😊

Question to the non-FTMs.

When/if you had pp hair loss, did you not have hair loss during pregnancy?

My hair has pretty much shed as normal during pregnancy and I've never had the mythical thick hair that I thought pregnancy would give me. The only benefit has been getting less greasy hair.

Does this mean I'm less likely to get pp hair loss as I'm still shedding hair as normal? Or does hair loss just happen despite what happens in pregnancy?

Worried as my hair isn't terribly thick to start with...

Babynum2 · 19/01/2023 21:11

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I have took a old thin towel for after labour and also one of then hair turbans to leave on my head because I won't be able to dry it. I really wouldn't over pack because if you have to stay in longer than expected visitors can bring things up for you to.

iratepirate · 19/01/2023 21:12

@Katdemar i don’t recall hair loss during any pregnancy.

I didn't get thick luscious hair either and still lost a butt tonne 🙁 it's no guarantee unfortunately
