For nappies i read loads of good things about the Aldi ones so have stocked up, can't believe how cheap they are in comparison to pampers! I bought a mixture of size 1 and 2 as i've got no idea how big this babys going to be

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/01/2023 11:13

Thanks. And consultant just signed me off for a water birth if I don’t need the drip (so that’s a big if), but I’m very pleased with today’s appointment.

ChristmasJumpers · 17/01/2023 11:24

Anyone still working and totally disengaged? I'm not finishing work until 17th March (all being well) so 2 more months and my brain is so full of baby stuff that I'm daydreaming or checking on this thread all day 🫢

Nappies - my mum has been buying them on her weekly shops so we have a pack of size 1s from Aldi, Morrisons and Lidl from her. Just had a message from MIL to say a colleagues baby grew out of size one so they have a box of pampers for us!

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 17/01/2023 11:34

@ChristmasJumpers thats totally me! In all honesty i've been very much all about my career my whole life and part of me wasn't even 100% sure i wanted children at one point, but now i just feel like i have complete baby brain and don't have the capacity for anything else 😂

i'm working literally up to the birth just because my maternity isn't very long so want to spend as long as i can with the baby but dear lord these next 2 months are going to be the longest of my life!

Cats23 · 17/01/2023 11:39

@ChristmasJumpers , my last day is 17th too, DD is 27th.
My job role is v.v.v easy so It wont make too much difference working till then.

Nappies- Ive so far got 4xpacks of Aldi own size 1, Ive used them with my last 2x Dc and they are great!

Nappy bin- Had 1 with Dc 2 , found it pointless tbh, as easy to put in a scented nappy sack and into a bin bag ( our council provide purple bin bags specifically for nappies, seperate to black bag collection)

@Cuppasoupmonster - Glad all well

We have our second growth scan today, hope baby is all good 😊

Good luck! Hope all is well

I’ve bought 2 packs of size 0 Little Angel nappies from Asda. We get our weekly shop delivered from there so figured it would be easy in terms of consistency.

Good luck Havana, let us know how it goes.

TeddyBeans · 17/01/2023 11:53

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/01/2023 10:12

Nappy bins are magic - well worth it in my opinion for keeping the smells in 🤢

I didn't bother but then we put poopy nappies straight outside last time (except at night time cuz bugger that)

ToffeeEl · 17/01/2023 11:53

@ChristmasJumpers me too, I'm floating around work like a fart 😂 Have a week annual leave beginning 27/2 then ML starting after and girl is due 13/3. On my feet 5 days a week is becoming a struggle now so looking at using more leave for an extra week or maybe 1 day a week.
2 months must feel like a lifetime!

Perexi · 17/01/2023 11:53

I'm due 29th and said I would work until the Friday before 😂😂 I figured I WFH and would want to have the time afterwards but I'm starting to think I was being very optimistic! The projects I'm fine with but my brain is less able to focus on writing code and problem solve as quickly as it used too

I am thinking about bringing mine forward but I so badly want to have 9 months from end of March to end of December so I can start fresh in January! We can't afford more Mat leave and I can't even fathom going back to work just before Christmas with a 9 month old.

Obviously baby will ultimately decide for me if she decides to come early! But yes I'm completely brain dead at the moment and seem to get very little done in a day! I work from home so physically I'm fine, mentally not so much!

iratepirate · 17/01/2023 12:05

Can’t really afford to disengage from work as it’s my own business. I’ll work right up until the baby arrives.
DH may take some parental leave as I won’t take mat leave.

havanamama · 17/01/2023 12:43

Thank you @TeddyBeans ☺️

Baby is all healthy, measuring 77th centile and nearly 5lbs now!

havanamama · 17/01/2023 12:45

I'm working until 1 week before due date, and then have 13 months off.

I find myself focusing on the written handover, as I don't have too much energy at all for calls, meetings, etc.

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/01/2023 12:47

I start mat leave the first week of March. So hopefully will have 2 weeks or so before induction, planning to get my hair done, do some nesting/clothes washing and maybe take DD out of nursery for a few days so we can just hang out together 🥰

allthingssparkly · 17/01/2023 15:03

Thanks @TeddyBeans 😊 I'll just pick more up as and when I need too. I have packed 10 nappies in my hospital bag, thats a good idea actually having a just in case stash in the car!

@Choc2022 definitely have another look, you can also pick the emmas diary ones up from Argos and Sainsburys stores if you have either near you 😊

allthingssparkly · 17/01/2023 15:07

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I couldn't believe the price for a pack of 20odd size one nappies in Aldi it was something ridiculous like 85p a pack!

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 17/01/2023 15:56

@allthingssparkly it was ridiculous, i think i bought 156 nappies in total and it cost me just under £6! Went into Boots and Pampers were £4 for a pack of 22!

TeddyBeans · 17/01/2023 16:12

Morrisons nappies are 85p a pack too in case anyone had a local one

OP posts:
TeddyBeans · 17/01/2023 16:13

I lied, they're 89p a pack

Blocklynn · 17/01/2023 16:47

@ChristmasJumpers @Cats23 my last day is the 17th March too! Only decided on it yesterday, lots of people think it’s quite late but I want as much time with baby as possible.
Planning 9 months maternity then will have a months worth of holiday to use.

Babynum2 · 17/01/2023 16:58

Everytime I have a BH I get really dizzy the last couple days its so strange!

allthingssparkly · 17/01/2023 17:46

Crazy isn't it 😆 when you compare to the price of other brands of nappies @AGirlsNameIsAryaStark

We all love a good bargain!

Shep21 · 17/01/2023 20:09

Loads of recommendations for Aldi’s premium nappies from my family and friends - we’ve gone with a couple of packs of size 1 and size 2 so far, might grab some more in the next few weeks as I reckon we’ll need them one way or another!

I’ve got about 4 weeks left of work but getting physically ready to be done! I’m a shop manager and on my feet for most of my shifts which is starting to become tiresome! But will be worth it to have until new year off with the baby!
