I Hope we keep this group going for the early newborn days at least ! :)

Room4onemore · 16/01/2023 23:08

@Cuppasoupmonster my last baby was transverse and I got admitted at 38 weeks on bed rest because they worry if your waters go then you could have a cord prolapse which is bad, so yes it’s a section always. I was in hospital when she decided to turn head down, omg it was painful, worse than my contractions before lol. So then I could come home and was induced at 40 weeks.

Blondewave · 16/01/2023 23:13

Cuppasoupmonster · 16/01/2023 22:31

@ToffeeEl is your little one transverse? I think mine is - I feel movement in both hips at the same time. NHS says delivery is always by CS if transverse at the end.

Mine was transverse at scan despite midwife saying she thought he was head down..turns out he wasn’t 😂 but they can turn around up until 36 week..Mine is always in a diff position as I feel the hiccups all over in different places every day 😅 my midwife said being transverse is normal at this stage (32 weeks)

We have the baby jogger city tour 2 which also folds small enough to be cabin baggage. Though from experience when you check in/at the gate it's best to have it folded and in the travel bag to demonstrate how small is it - generally staff only seem to know about/trust the yo-yo! It also doesn't lie completely flat either so would need a car seat or bassinet for very little ones.

They do treat checked prams better than general luggage - you can take them to the gate and then they return them by hand at the baggage collection point (rather than sling them on the conveyor belt). But £1000 worth of pram may be pushing it 😅

With my last baby I got on a plane home when he was 2 weeks old completely by myself - didn’t even know how to fold down my pram 😂 it was a car seat travel combo...the cabin crew were great and just lifted it on and off for me before and after the flight. It didn’t need to fit in an over head locker.
Magically appeared ready for me when I was getting off the plane
no idea where they keep them tho 😂

I'm really wanting some pampering and thinking of getting a facial BUT that would entail laying on back for at least 45 mins - I'm guessing based on that getting a facial isnt advised?

Babynum2 · 17/01/2023 07:12

@Choc2022 my last pregnancy I was having lashes done every 3 weeks and would be a lot longer than 45 mins. I used to lay on my side and point my head up and then stop every half hour for a little move around.

TeddyBeans · 17/01/2023 07:55

@Choc2022 I'm sure there'll be a post partum group but I found that they don't last as long as the pregnancy groups. Check with the place you want to go to do to the facial, they'll have policies for pregnant ladies 😊

@Cuppasoupmonster your scan is this morning right? Hope it goes well and you get the result you want 🤞

I've worked out from my growth chart that little lady needs to be 4lbs 13oz on Thursday to stay on 10th centile. I really hope she is, I'd like a standard birth this time if at all possible 😭

Perexi · 17/01/2023 08:58

Yeah good luck for the scan this morning! @Cuppasoupmonster

Thank you guys for the heads up on the heartburn meds from the GP, finally managed more than 90 mins of unbroken sleep and feel like I can function a bit more!

TeddyBeans · 17/01/2023 09:14

@Perexi yay glad you're sorted! This last week has been glorious for me. Haven't had a single bit of heartburn 😁 I love my Dr a little bit for prescribing enough to get me to 40 weeks 🤣

I've got three boxes which is much more than I expected to get! I was genuinely beginning to wonder how I was going to cope with it!

allthingssparkly · 17/01/2023 09:37

Nappies, what size have you all bought so far? I have got a couple of packs of mamia, pampers and the tesco fred and flo ones some of which were freebies from the emmas diary or bounty packs (check them out if you haven't already) I think there's around 150 nappies in total in size newborn (4lbs-11lbs)

Should I get the next size up? Or hold off until baby is here?

Are you all using a particular brand?

X

TeddyBeans · 17/01/2023 09:45

@allthingssparkly I've done the same. They get through so many nappies to begin with that I've just bulk bought own brand 4-11lbs nappies from wherever I happen to be shopping at the time.

DS was 8lbs 4oz and IIRC he was in 4-11lbs nappies for a good 6-8 weeks

OP posts:
allthingssparkly · 17/01/2023 09:55

I think I'll hold off getting the next size up for now then until he's here, unless of course there's good offers on them between now and his arrival.

How many nappies are you packing in your hospital bag @TeddyBeans? X

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/01/2023 09:59

ITS MOVED 🥳 well clear of the cervix so all set for induction at 37-38 weeks. Relieved is an understatement! Just waiting for the consultant appointment…

havanamama · 17/01/2023 10:02

I've got Size 1 Lidl nappies small pack for hospital and at home we have about 40 more of size 1 from Asda.

I was advised to not buy too much size 1, as maybe baby will be 10lbs and size 2 weight range would make more sense.

We get weekly food shop deliveries and got Amazon Prime, so I don't see the need to stock up on loads of one size if it's unknown yet.

havanamama · 17/01/2023 10:02

We have our second growth scan today, hope baby is all good 😊

Rose429 · 17/01/2023 10:08

What are your thoughts on nappy bin? Is it necessary?

We were given a Tommee Tippee twist and click one, but the refill cartridges are like £14 for 3 and don’t seem to last that long. Not sure if it’s worth investing money on.

Cuppasoupmonster · 17/01/2023 10:12

Nappy bins are magic - well worth it in my opinion for keeping the smells in 🤢

Great news!

Perexi · 17/01/2023 10:18

Nappies wise I've bought two packs of size 1 and now just going to add some size 2 nappies to each shop we do as weight wise it seems sensible not to get loads of size 1 Incase hes on the bigger side.

I don't remember what the overlap is for size 2 but I used size 1s til he grew out of them. Found they leaked otherwise cuz he has no waist (same now, trousers are a fucking nightmare 🤣)

I think I've packed about 12 nappies in my bags but will make sure there's a stash in the car so DP doesn't have to go get any more

@Cuppasoupmonster good news!

@allthingssparkly I asked about Emmas diary and bounty right at the beginning and tesco and boots were out of stock. I must remember to ask again.

Havent even considered nappies, impressed with how organised you all are.

havanamama · 17/01/2023 10:49

@Rose429 I've got that bin for the nursery. For downstairs I just got nappy sacks as we take the bin out daily anyways.
