Went in yesterday to check reduced movements, of course the second I arrive she starts moving like crazy which I think then threw off their monitoring lol so ended up with an overnight stay as a precaution. Suppose can't complain they are being cautious but baby seems fine now, need to be monitored again this morning and can hopefully go home!

Cats23 · 13/01/2023 07:48

@beatingheartbaby glad all well!
Ive been a bit worried since yesterday about reduced movement..., usually in eve I have so much but not last night, v.minimal.
Ive been half asleep all night worrying and this Am BUT in the last 20mins, lots of movement!!
What a worry though!!

ChristmasJumpers · 13/01/2023 08:15

@Cats23 I was so disappointed yesterday after being excited to go to Aldi. Lots of baby grows, bottles etc. But I thought there'd be much more! It was a tiny section of the shop really.

I've check the website and a lot of stuff online is "buy instore" so I'll be back to a different aldi tonight haha

We did manage to get a feeding pillow, a nappy caddy and some dummies though 😊

beatingheartbaby · 13/01/2023 08:27

@Cats23 I honestly think the babies know what they are doing to us stressing us out haha

Room4onemore · 13/01/2023 10:03

Morning, I grabbed some some muslins and a changing mat from matalan yesterday. Grabbed a couple of things for my hospital bag so will make a start on that later. 31 weeks today here

Cuppasoupmonster · 13/01/2023 10:22

Baby events are often a bit over hyped in my experience. It’s a shame Mothercare isn’t still open, when I was expecting DD I basically went and got everything in one hit and there was even a cafe so it was like a nice day out 😂 the only thing we didn’t buy from there was clothes because we bought cheaper elsewhere and the cot.

Cuppasoupmonster · 13/01/2023 10:24

Baby was also very quiet last night for me but has thankfully woken up today and is doing lots of what feels like forward flips 🤢 if the scan goes well on Tuesday I’m going to start the spinning babies routine at least a few times a week if anyone else wants to join me? After all this I would be desperate not to be thwarted by a breech or transverse baby 😂

havanamama · 13/01/2023 10:27

I'm in week 33 and baby is luckily head down, facing my backbone, so I hope she stays like that till her birthday.

My little one is stubbornly breech - he has been that way for the last 4 growth scans and my consultant said I need to prepare myself for a c-section!

I'm 33 weeks today but he is small and they are likely to want to induce at 37 weeks. I did consider doing spinning babies but after reading the outcomes of early inductions, I do wonder if I would be better off having a planned c-section!

Cuppasoupmonster · 13/01/2023 11:23

@havanamama great!

@LizziBee not sure if it helps but my 37w induction with DC1 was fine - I’m aware though that most of them do end up in c-section, it took ages to get me to the point where they could break my waters. It’s definitely a personal choice but here if you have any questions!

Mamamia154 · 13/01/2023 13:05

Hey everyone

I’m 27 years old with our first baby due 29th March (29 weeks). Based in West London if anyone else is nearby!

I am very new to the world of pregnancy and even Mumsnet haha so learning as much as I can.

Currently my fears are around how to know if baby is moving normally or not, I’m a bit worried that I haven’t quite worked out her movement pattern so I keep thinking is this normal or not..

Also thinking about the birth eek anyone thinking of water birth? Not sure how I will handle the pain without epidural?!

TeddyBeans · 13/01/2023 13:16

@Mamamia154 hi! It's completely normal for babies to fail to settle into a 'regular' pattern. There are a few of us where 'no pattern' is the pattern. As long as you're feeling bubs several times a day you're good really. DD generally has 3-4 good wriggle sessions spread out across the day though I don't feel them all if I'm busy doing other things.

I wasn't allowed a water birth but I was allowed in the bath during early labour and it was the only time during my labour that I felt no discomfort or pain outside of any drug related pain killers. You can always change your mind if it's not helping you as much as you expect

Has anyone written a will / chosen a legal guardian in preparation for their first born child?

GreenIsle · 13/01/2023 14:46

I'm 32 weeks with no pattern of movement at all it is really hard to pin point it aswell.

I prefer to just give birth on the bed it's just the safest I feel so midwife can see everything and reassure me. Everyone is different of course and in labour you will change your mind a lot. I wanted a water birth with my first dc but once I got in I hated it so got straight back out.

Pickles23 · 13/01/2023 14:58

@Mamamia154 I'm hoping for a water birth (but this is my first so will see how it all goes!)

I haven't been tracking baby's movements very closely, they just come and go, but I usually notice more in the evenings and when I get into bed.

Mamamia154 · 13/01/2023 18:34

Thanks everyone I feel a bit more reassured now about baby movements :) I have a few more weeks to decide about the water birth so will just do a bit more reading and I'm hoping if I reallllly am struggling they'll let me go to the ward or get me something if it's possible.

JG24 · 13/01/2023 18:41

@havanamama we've chosen a legal guardian and we've asked him but given him time to speak to his husband and have a think before we draw our wills up
Hoping to get them done in February.
It seems strange that everyone doesn't do it but then for a lot of people it might be obvious who would look after the baby if anything happened
We're going for a friend rather than family so I think our wishes needs writing down officially

Yes same thoughts here, but we have family internationally, so it is not as straight forward.

TeddyBeans · 13/01/2023 20:42

I had a massive message typed out and then MN crashed 🤦‍♀️

Basically I wouldn't have even considered writing a will, BP, glucose and protein were all fine at my check today. Bumps shrunk from over 97th to 97th to under 90th in 5 weeks and the midwife (not my usual) doesn't think IUGR is on the agenda at next week's scan. I am withholding judgement for now

Out of curiosity, is it a good sign that it's measuring closer to average ? Or would it be better if it stayed the same or increased?

TeddyBeans · 13/01/2023 21:01

@havanamama I think once you're on a percentile they like you to stay on it but I don't really know

Cuppasoupmonster · 13/01/2023 21:04

We just have a reciprocal arrangement with my sister - will do same for her kids. Need to get it in writing though.

DH has gone away for a few days so just me and DD at home, hoping she won’t be begging to go to soft play or similar as I absolutely cannot manage those activities anymore!

4 days until the scan, please let it all be ok 😢 I’ll be a wreck the day before.

What have your pregnancy diets been like? I’ve been making an effort with meals but have such a sweet tooth so a lot of chocolate and stuff on top 😭

TeddyBeans · 13/01/2023 22:31

@Cuppasoupmonster all the best for your scan ❤️

My diet is horrendous 🤣 it always has been tbh. I have a massive sweet tooth - Christmas is literally the worst time of year for me to be pregnant and I've done it twice now

OP posts:
Choc2022 · 13/01/2023 23:30

@NM1819 we have the same due date!!!

I'm 30 weeks and high risk so had 4 midwife appointments to date and will be having one next week then every two weeks. Also consultant led so will be seeing consultant a few times in between.

As im hospital based we have carbon dioxide alongside urine and blood pressure as standard and had 5 or 6 in total.

Perexi · 13/01/2023 23:34

We haven't thought about guardians, my parents are fairly young and we have 5 siblings between us but I genuinely haven't thought about what would happen if something happened to the both of us but we should do.

Diet wise second trimester was great, load's of vegetables and quite healthy. It's dipped alot the last few weeks, carb's and sweet stuff I think mainly as I've been nauseous again and OMG the heartburn is a killer. I am trying to make better choices but figure something is better than nothing.....
