I’m pretty good with my meals but bad with snacks 🙈

JG24 · 14/01/2023 08:22

@Perexi ask for omeprezole! (Probably spelt wrong!)
I have just got some after a recommendation on here and its changed my life 😁

Is that from the midwife? I'm leaning on Gaviscon advance at the moment but the texture is so grim 🤣

iratepirate · 14/01/2023 09:13

I still haven’t managed to shift the daily sickness. So fed up of it!
My eating is therefore pretty terrible; literally just snacking on grapes or a baby bel as and when I think I can manage to keep it down. 😔

JG24 · 14/01/2023 09:37

@Perexi I messaged the doctors surgery in the middle of the night asking for something suitable for heartburn in pregnancy and by the time I woke up the doctor had prescribed it
Gaviscon and rennies didn't help me at all

QuinnofHearts · 14/01/2023 10:00

Hi everyone! Im Quinn, due March 20th with a little girl. We lost our daughter in 2021, so I feel so blessed that I've been given a second chance at having a little girl. I have a little boy too who is 5.

Anyone else experiencing horrific back pain?

ChristmasJumpers · 14/01/2023 11:47

Can anyone tell me if this is braxton hicks?

In the night I'm being woken up by my belly feeling really tight. It only lasts a few seconds and then I go straight back to sleep when it stops. Only thing is I seem to be stretching my legs out at the same time (making them cramp up) which I don't think is anything to do with braxton hicks?

The belly tightening feeling is nothing I've ever felt before so I don't think it's gas or cramps. It feels like an intense but not painful squeeze on my whole belly

Babynum2 · 14/01/2023 14:26

@ChristmasJumpers sounds like BH that's what mine feel like they have also ramped up a bit more the last week!

LifeOfRiley1 · 14/01/2023 15:56

Hello! We had a private 3D scan today as haven’t had a scan since 20 weeks. Sonographer confirmed baby is currently breech position!! Any tips on things I can start trying, to get them to turn would be much appreciated.. still plenty time for them to turn themselves though!

Are there any ladies on here intending on BF their baby?

My intention is to BF but don't know whether I should cover all bases and take a couple of bottles of ready made formula too incase things dont work out 🤔

Flittingaboutagain · 14/01/2023 18:56

I will be. I fed my first (and still am at 18m) but had to start with cup feeding as she was prem. I recommend you look into cup feeding (better than bottle feeding newborns) and colostrum harvesting.

The majority of UK women don't feed beyond six weeks (and it often takes 10 to establish supply and work through various early challenges such as tongue tie)...so if you want to breastfeed join your local support group and know who your lactation consultant is now. You'll have a much better chance at not giving up on a bad day!

Kelly mom and La Leche League is also great for advice.

If you plan on trying BF, but it doesn't work out, then the hospital will supply formula.

If you're unsure, or plan to FF, take the ready made formula with you.

allthingssparkly · 14/01/2023 19:31

Thanks @havanamama 😊

Hey everyone

I’m 27 years old with our first baby due 29th March (29 weeks). Based in West London if anyone else is nearby!

I am very new to the world of pregnancy and even Mumsnet haha so learning as much as I can.

Currently my fears are around how to know if baby is moving normally or not, I’m a bit worried that I haven’t quite worked out her movement pattern so I keep thinking is this normal or not..

Also thinking about the birth eek anyone thinking of water birth? Not sure how I will handle the pain without epidural?!

Hey, also in West London (new to the area) first time mum and 30 weeks :D

I'm also hoping for a waterbirth but everyone I've spoken to says they end up on a bed in the end!

Have you attended any local classes, my hopital provides a few?

muminlndn · 14/01/2023 19:37

I read Ina May's Guide to Breastfeeding before I had my daughter. I can't remember much about it but I was confident about breastfeeding and fairly unphased by all the cluster feeding (particularly bad at something like day 2, 7, 14) so it must've been informative enough to help me through. I didn't do nct or other breastfeeding courses but I do remember watching YouTube videos showing how to latch properly.

iratepirate · 14/01/2023 19:42

I will be. YouTube was my main port of call as none of the bf support was running due to covid last time.
We persevered and it was all ok, DC decided to stop at about 12 months, which was ok by me.

Babynum2 · 14/01/2023 19:54

I will try BF again I did last 2 times I lasted 6 weeks with the first and 6 months with the second I don't see much benefit once they start eating food and it's just not for me when they get older.

I didn't actually read any books or go to any groups but the midwife I had was really really good and they won't let you home without knowing you are feeding properly.

Cats23 · 14/01/2023 20:07

I plan to BF again.
Dc1 was prem so I had to express, which worked really well for me too. Expressed until 4months.

Dc2&3- 8 weeks BF, I found it hard with DC2 as he slept so so much and my milk supply was great, it would choke him as soon as he latched as just flowed to quick , Dc3, I was simply exhausted. Dc4 Bf for 5months .

I hope to BF for 8 weeks this time as I will return to work then ( I'm SE and do really low hrs each day byt will need baby to FF still

Perexi · 14/01/2023 20:36

I'm going to try to BF, actually had the NCT feeding session today which I found really helpful and they provide postnatal support which is handy and apparently so does the borough I live in so might be worth looking into where you are as some area's have charity support.

I have also bought some bottles for later on and the premade bottles to take in my hospital bag just to take the pressure off. Ideally I'll end up combi feeding so my partner can be involved but need to establish milk supply first if I can .

JB2021 · 14/01/2023 20:47

@Perexi we have a session on breastfeeding with our NCT course but I hope to decide what I want to do before then so I don't feel pressured one way or the other.

Leaning towards combination feeding....

They do talk about formula feeding and expressing too although nowhere near as much but I didn't feel pressured but I guess it's all dependant on the person leading the course.

It was really informative but definitely good to know your own mind what you want to do. Personally I don't think I want to be solely responsible for every mealtime but who knows what will happen when he's actually here!

JB2021 · 14/01/2023 20:59

@Perexi thank you! The appeal of bottle means husband and others can help and I'm not as tied.

I'm FTM so wondering if I'll "regret" not breastfeeding so thought combination good option. Although on reading think you still have to breastfeed for so many weeks first.

Babynum2 · 14/01/2023 21:16

Yes solely try to bf first to get your milk supply up. I pumped in hospital while my DS was in NICU and got a good supply going so when I was home DP could do some night feeds out of a bottle and also got him used to drinking from bottle. Hospital gave me a pump and bottles to use they was these tiny little ones with a small teet because he was premium but they was so handy.

Me too!

Yep they recommend that for supply but as with everything each baby and birth is different so just a case of figuring out what works for you I think.

I had a little bit of ice-cream tonight for the first time since the summer didn't think anything of it...the cold and sugar means hes basically having a rave in there 😂
